My high school girlfriend watched all the flashing lights trying to get across the bridges from New Jersey. She saw everything after the planes hit from a pier in Staten Island. All the responders are heroes not even a second was wasted.
Chief, I was a 15 year old kid who wanted to be a fireman more than anything else when 9/11 happened. Seeing you, your men, and the entire FDNY’s courage that day is still something I draw upon to this day, almost 23 years later, as a fireman myself. We will never forget you. And we don’t let our probies forget, many of whom weren’t even born yet. Take care and God Bless.
Thank You for doing what you do.
You have a heart of compassion. God bless you and watch over you. ❤️
As a retired NYPD detective I try to avoid anything related to 9-11 story or any article pertaining to that date .I have been to the site only once with the Mt sinai group therapy officers and we fully medicated ourselves with extra XanaX and Klonopin and I could never go back there again I spent months at the Fresh kills landfill watching conveyer belts and picking up bones and anything relevant to the that day.till this day I cannot see a supermarket conveyer belt..baggage claim area in an airport due to the 9 months of and off 2 to 3 times a week 12 hours tours of being assigned there I Thank u sir for your service as an American citizen and as an FDNY responder..FIDELIS AD MORTEM...Amen!
God bless you sir and thank you for the courage to watch this interview and thank you for your years of service with the NYPD. If you would ever like to sit down and talk with me on your terms I would be honored.
I wish you a wonderful life now!! Thank you for your service.. Big hugs..
PTSD is such an ugly beast. You ALREADY lived through it, though. The memories are horrifying and painful. They also cannot hurt you. You have survived the thing that you want to forget. I hope you can one day feel safe again. ❤
I'm sorry you had to go through all of that. I wish you the best going forward. I suffer from PTS myself and its a real demon most days. Thank You For Your Service💪🏽🇺🇸
❤❤❤❤❤
It is encouraging to know we have great Americans like Fire Chief Grabher, and those that wear the uniforms of heroes. The uniforms that run toward danger, not away from it. God bless you Chief.
AMEN Chet!!! One of my heroes!!!
I’m so glad that he was able to share his story and that you aired it so the rest of us could hear it. When he said that he wishes he could just go to the firehouse kitchen and talk to the guys there it just tugged at my heart. I hope that he is doing well now and has found another purpose for his days.
Very intelligent man, very well narrated, very touching ... a great fireman, who, in his own words, accepts he and his battalion were just very lucky. We will never forget these brave souls and the horror or that day. I'm a Canadian, living in Toronto on that day, and we felt deeply for our fellow (American) men and women.
Thank you for watching one of my stories.
Thank you for your service Steve! I heard you say it didn't feel productive because you were running for your lives. Believe me brother, it was productive! I remember days on deployment when I felt the same way, until I looked around at the guys there with me. Everyone being there with me made it productive! You, and every fire fighter, and first responder, every person that lost their life, or survived made it productive. I thank you brother, your life story makes me feel great about serving until retirement in the Army. I hope we got justice for you, and everyone lost or effected by 9/11. I love you guys brother. Take care! ✌🏾❤️
Great comment. I have passed it on to Steve. God bless you and thank you for your service in the Army.
@@VoicesofHistory Thank you sir!! I appreciate you doing these interviews. They're amazing history! We are lucky to hear about the actions these men took to save lives! Just amazing!
Great interview, almost 23 years later people should watch these guys talk. In the UK, I remember that day so clear, my husband calling me at work and seeing those first tv images 💔
Thank this Veteran for calmly detailing the entire debacle of epic proportion. Great leadership skills faced with the chaos.
We salute you and everyone who gave all.
Well, said Ronald, well said. I will share your comment with Steve. God bless you!!
Stunned!. I am stunned and exhausted from just watching this. Rest assured.. There will be 3 minutes of silence in my home at 14:45L in Germany tomorrow. Rest in peace all who passed away.. Another remarkable piece of work Larry!
God bless you Reginald. 3 minutes of silence. I will share this with Steve Grabher.
What a wonderful firefighter this man is . Such knowledge when he’s speaking about what to do as he was traveling down to WTC2 . His brain going through everything he’d leant and how helpless he felt that he felt so naive thinking he could put out the fires . Listening to him say that I wanted to shout out to him that he wasn’t stupid or naïve, none of them had ever faced anything like this before he did his job and he should be so proud of him and his team .
RIP to the 343.
Thank you. I hope you have watched the entire film done in 3 parts. Steve is featured in my film. Steve has become a good friend of mine.
I am British and have watched many of the firefighters stories. Without exception they are amazing human beings. With integrity, character and bravery. With men like this in the USA tell me how the best they can bring forward as Presidential material , Trump and Biden?
Thank You SIR......for everything.
Thank you Larry for doing these interviews God bless America and never forget 9/11
Thank you Frank. Stay tuned this weekend...
Great interview. Thank you Steve.
God Bless America 🇺🇸
This was a great story and one of many untold stories of FF's who survived that day but have 911 related illnesses. Just recently the number of FF deaths from 911 illnesses has pass the 343 that die that day. There are most likely many more stories out there. God bless Chief Grabher, the men and women of the FDNY and FF's across this nation that answer the call everyday. Ret. Lt. Danbury CT FD Never Forget!!
Some guy I worked with years ago said that same thing about our government made those buildings come down. Anyone who understands that steel, structural steel that is subject to extreme heat, like these buildings were, the heat takes the structural integrity right out of the steel,it loses its temper. And when the steel that holds up those buildings hears up like it did,all that weight, hundreds of thousands if pounds, can no longer be supported by the steel that was heated well beyond the point. There's no way that it can continue to hold up all that weight. And then explained to him, what about the plane that hit the pentagon,ir the one that crashed in Pennsylvania, did the government do that too? Some people just get their mind set on something and there's just no changing it. Any way, this man I must say is a true hero, just l8ke all of his fellow fire fighters who perished that day. I think that there are no fire fighters like there are in New York. New York people in general are the toughest Americans that exist today. But I guess any big city fireman are pretty damn brave in my book. I just saw tremendous character in New York when these things happened. God bless you all, thank you for keeping us safe. You really are a special kind of breed.
Unbelievable work with this story and salute to all fire department heroes
Thank you for your kind words. I hope you’ve seen my complete film.
I like this gentleman’s story - he tells an honest human story. I appreciate his efforts.
Good bless you Larry are freedom was viciously attacked and first responders in civilians ate the grunt of that so thank you Larry
Thank you sir for everything you did on 9/11. If I would have been stuck in the World Trade Center and I had to choose between flames and jumping I would jump. I was at a accident scene one time and we couldn’t get the woman out of the car and she burned alive in that car. I will never forget the screaming and the smell of the burning flesh. It still haunts me in my dreams at night. I hope that if I am in this position where I can’t get out that I can get to my tactical Tupperware to end the situation. God bless you sir.
Ed this one needs to be watched by all and shared. The DEMS want to erase history.
@@VoicesofHistoryI have shared it with several. I added to my comment. So if you get a chance read my whole comment.
How dare you reduce all this to some kind of partisan hack!@@VoicesofHistory I mean....really?
@@VoicesofHistory That is absolutely false. How dare you say that. 😢
I, like many millions around the world watched in absolute horror from the comfort and safety of my living room of the horrific events on that day. It had a profound effect on my life yet not involved or knew anyone who was there. Can not fathom how people directly involved coped with their loss or what they witnessed.
Thank you for sharing this. God bless.
Heat will push you out!! always knew that!! but him telling it Confirmed it.. Absolutely Horrible.. This is a wonderful man so down to earth, and Honest" gotta love him..
Under stress you sometimes for get basic facts. Like the fact that gas expands when heated.
I thank you Steve for your bravery and service. I hope you and yours are well. Your actions are an honor to us all! I pray for everyone that was there at the Trade Centers are at peace.
My mom took me down to the trade center the 2 weeks before they were destroyed, she had to get a new birth certificate and they kept all records downtown. Make a long story short, I decided I wanted to be an accountant and work there one day, but I had a nightmare that night about having to jump off the building and my parachute wouldn’t work. My nightmare became true, but for all those people down there. I hopped in my car and drove to the water just in time to see the North Tower collapse. I’ll never forget those people who were killed there that day. I have taken the time to look at their pictures and names, to remind that life is precious.
This was absolutely amazing R.I.P to all of the falling heroes
I will never forget the determined faced firemen marching directly into the site, and then seeing the powder covered devastated 1000 yard stares limping out of the wreck after the collapse.
Great job Larry, he is quite story teller
❤ honored to have listened.
Thank you for sharing your story Chief. ❤ thank you for your service ❤
Good interview!
So wonderful, Larry. Thank you both 🙏🏽🌈
Thanks Jim. My best film story.
My brother is FDNY. He was a probie on 9/11. He said the same thing that Chief Grabher said. 2 110 story office buildings and there wasn’t a thing that would tell you that…not a printer not a phone, computer monitor just millions of pieces of paper. My wife was a nurse in Maimonides hospital in Brooklyn and there were papers all over the buildings and the street. That was the force of the collapse cause that part of Brooklyn wasn’t right over the river.
To all those we have lost and continue to lose RIP 🙏❤️ I WILL NEVER FORGET
There is actually a photo of the leg the firefighter spoke of, the woman's leg with a high heel on it.
What a hero 🇺🇸
AGREED!! Thank you James. I just got off the phone with Steve.
Good report,well done!
Thank You!!
This dude looks like a mix between Steve Nash and John Stockton. That aside, incredible story. Thank you for your service.
I see Christian Bale
Wow. Just WOW!!! I’ve got a new sense of pride. Deeper maybe. Instead of being left with an empty, sad feeling after watching much of the 9/11 videos this one didn’t do that and I really appreciate that. I mean the sadness will always be there but this was different and I have new respect so thank you so very very much !!!💯❤️🙏🥀🇺🇸
Leanne, I appreciate your kind words. As the producer of this channel and my second 9/11 film, I agree with you. There was a strong sense of hope amidst the sadness. Please feel free to share this video. Thank you and God bless you!!
Never Forget. 9/11/01
I remember watching a news report on the plane hitting and seeing another plan hit live from England. I hate people who send thoughts and prayers and other useless crap and I'm not a big fan of American politics and gun laws and stuff but I have a lot of respect for the people who responded to this horror.
I am so proud of the firefighters of NYC.
The first casualties of the war against terror. 😔
Good one Larry
Thank you Winston. Stay tuned this evening for Part 1 of my 9/11 film.
I remember how scary it was just watching helplessly as both towers fell, mostly due to structural failure because the fires were just too intense.
Chief, I am so glad you hesitated. It boils my blood that the white hats kept sending fresh bodies into that death trap. I’ve seen photos of the men who were probably 10 minutes ahead of you who were wiped out. Crushing.
After seeing the things he did , I believe a person kinda go into shock!! In order to cope and just do what you have to do..
The 9/11 memorial is one of the most powerful remembrances of americas darkest day. The day everything changed. Never forget those lost and the ones left behind.
They tough of toughest.
Thank you Mike!!
Interested to hear his thoughts on what another Fireman saw and said "the steel was molten like a Foundry for weeks after collapse" How does steel become Molten like that in i fire that was not hot enough to Melt steel ?
It didn’t melt. It softened, bent, and twisted.
It could have been melted since jet fuel burns at 2000 degrees.
There is footage of molten, liquefied steel running out of the building. Jet fuel could burn hot enough but not in open air. The biggest question is why nano-thermite was discovered in the dust. There is no reason for it to exist in that environment/wreckage. No doubt the jets and fire did significant damage and softened steel. Lot of things out of place. That said, innocent people were murdered and still dying via 9/11 illnesses. Upmost respect to the heros that day and those that died. Ive been to the memorial and its a somber experience.
I really like it when new Yorkers say Coiffey(coffee) ., it's like coming home ❤
"To see if it was somebody or not"
Wow. I dont know if ill sleep tonight.
I was on leave from the military when 9/11 happened I was in Florida when a friend woke me up and told me the first time I've been hit when I walked into his living room I watch the plane hit the second tower I was standing there in shock when the report came in that the Pentagon had been hit 10 minutes after that my pager started beeping my was paging me when I when I called to check in with him he inform me my leave was canceled to report back to base shortly after that I remember hearing that the plane went down in Pennsylvania in a field and all air traffic was restricted and I had to drive from fort Pierce Florida all the way back to camp lejeune which was a long trip but anyways I remember talking to a structural engineer that was later on couple years later told me he was in New York that day that day and he told me that the intense heat and jet fuel in the impact or the reasons the towers fell that when the planes hit the towers it knocked the fire proofing off of the walls in the building around the impact zone which caused super heated jet fuel be exposed to the steel structure which attributed to the collapse
This man looks a lot like my father in law.
I unfortunately can't forget the terrorist meeting for September 11 I was taken through and too the meeting for it I was raped by 2 men the day of it and convinced by intelligence service to imagine it it hurts my conscience as my imagination was responsible for ksm Khalid Sheikh Mohammed to plan and Al-Qaeda to carry it out it was ksm however I imagined the target when instructed to do so I was 9 and 12 years old the meeting happened Oct 31 1990 boxhill Melbourne Australia
Wtf you talking about? I live in Melbourne city.
@_Only_Zuul the world trade centre terrorist meeting happened Oct 31 1990 at the Greek orthodox church hometown prd boxhill next to boxhill central names involved are James Oberlin Tony sergeant Erik Zander Ozzie Zander John Vandekolk a man claiming to be Satan a man claiming to be honzi munbarack or Joe and a man claiming to be Gaddafi all real experienced and remembered content not true because they use under cover themes
I think you mean "scooting down the street" 😆 👍
Ask this guy what the on earth made everything pulverised, if not a product of conspiracy?
I understand why the airplane casualties would have just traces of remains, but why would the collapse alone leave only tiny, unidentifiable human remains?
You do not understand the size and scope of the buildings.
When you go to the polls on 11/5/2024 America, remember 9/11 and the enemy now within your borders. God bless Trump, his family, friends, colleagues and America!! ❤
Many thanks Susan. Great comment. God bless you!! I hope you have seen my two 9/11 documentaries. Please let me know. You may reach out via my website: larrycappetto.com
