Hi rock does lee take it back shut in the back swing

No he supinates right forearm to open clubface. His key is to keep inside of right elbow stable and going straight back towards his right side while arm bends. He doesn’t allow right arm to go right away from side. Allows him to freely supinate in downswing to get shutface. I do it by my grip and maintaining counterwound hands.

    Hi Rock,
Does Lee setup with the face closed in relation to his stance?
Is it closed or square to his grip in his hands when he takes his grip?
Or is the clubface pointing in the direction he expects the ball to land?
Or is the face/grooves setup parallel to the imaginary box he has setup to the left of him?
Playing pain free easy golf, but feel like something is still missing in the details.
    Thanks

      Steve,
Those are very insightful questions. I last saw Lee in early 2011 so I can only give you my recollections of what I saw then and can't really answer your questions factually as only Lee can do that so you should ask him. For me, I believe in a diagonal stance where the feet are closed relative to the target line. In this video, you can see Lee in a diagonal stance although I never heard him discuss that when I saw him. Dariusz has discussed it at length in vivid detail so you should check out his Biokinetic golf swing theory. Since I believe the clubface should be slightly open to the target line at setup, then I would say the answer to your first question is Yes as the feet are closed about 10-15 degrees relative to the target line and the clubface is open a degree or two relative to perpendicular to the target line so the clubface is closed in relation to the stance. On the second question, I believe the clubface should be open a degree or two when you take your grip at address. Your lead wrist (left wrist for right handers) should be in PF/UD, lead forearm should be supinated, and lead shoulder should be ER at address and will go more so like that as the load gets greater during the golf swing primarily peaking through impact. I have done a couple videos on my recollections of Lee's grip and I still use that grip to this day so check those out if you want more details. In my Suspended Animation Golf Swing theory, I have documented how to setup and swing without any manipulations of the wrists, forearms, and shoulders so check that out. You should experiment with changing the clubface, stance, and grip in relation to each other which will give you a better understanding of these concepts. However, I believe firmly it is really all about how aware you are of your body and how well it functions that you will find the most benefit from pursuing. There is no quick fix by changing your stance, grip, and clubface alignment as your body is the primary game changer in all of this so I would rather see you spend the majority of time there. I have spent a ton of time over the past four years investigating a lot of grips, a lot of stances, and a lot of clubface alignments some of which I have documented on my RUclips channel so my conclusions that I am sharing with you for your benefit are based on a lot of testing and analysis.
      Thanks,
      Rock

Thanks for the reply. I'm going to print this out and digest it. I'd ask Lee but he seems very elusive - even on his own paid site. Thanks again.

      Steve Wolfington Steve,
I am glad to hear that you will digest my inputs and i hope it helps. Lee is a very giving person from what I saw. He would walk around the range helping others and has a lot of energy to do it. Can you post a video of your swing and I will take a look and see if I can help and ask Lee to do the same? It is very difficult to self diagnose what you are doing and more than likely you will need a good coach local to you to help. The golf swing happens in 1.3 seconds so it is extremely difficult to coach and extremely difficult to repeat. I have seen a lot of folks asking for help, but most are looking for a quick fix...not saying that is you. It will be the biggest challenge of your life to make any improvement in your swing and I mean any so make sure you really have the passion to do it because you will need it. I have been working on mine for four years solid and I guarantee there are not many in the world including pros who do it for a living who have put more effort out then me...and still my swing is a work in progress...and I still believe I will do better...love the process and the great people I meet along the way.
      Thanks,
      Rock

      Rock,
Does the Driver do the same thing? Face the ball that dramatically?

      Michael,
Yes, all clubs should do the same thing. There is a lot going on in what he is doing there with the clubhead being one factor that was very exciting when I first noticed what he was doing. Lee gets his torso way out over the ball, he turns it beautifully in sync with his pelvis, he sits back nicely with his butt leveraging his hips, thighs and core and gets the shaft really low down around his pelvic floor through impact. Watch all of this in this video and imagine yourself doing it and then go do it. He pounds the clubhead down with great force as I observed when I saw him as it is a very loud sound that I had never heard before or since...very powerful.
      Thanks,
      Rock
