    Yes enjoyed your video. I have a isx 450 bought new in 2000 no emmision crap on it. Rebuilt it at 450,000 cummins used a new liner in them. Had to go back to old style. Now has 1,745.000 on it. Just got guy that rebuilt years ago fixing leak in front of engine this weekend. Big job. front cover over the timing gears. Around a twenty hour job. That engine is still running great. Just pull a spread axle stepdeck.

    HD mechanic in SK here. Like what you've done with the pete, bet it sounds awesome! When I do deletes I always prefer to leave the DPF/SCR/DOC filter assemblies in place and just remove the insides. Weld block off plates in the exhaust feed to the egr cooler, plate off the intake side. Leave everything in place so the delete cannot be visually identified. Some people like doing the vgt delete, i personally have no experience with it. Replaced a vgt turbo on an x15 last week that cost 8900 Canadian not including the actuator, so i can definitely see the reasoning behind that! Our programing is done by hooking up insite program and my tuner does the reflash remotely using team viewer. We also deletes on DD15/16 engines using the same process except detroit program not insite.

      That's stupid. First, anyone who has been around a diesel engine will immediately recognize a deleted truck by soot in the exhaust and elevated turbine noise in the exhaust. When you punch out a dpf you ruin an expensive piece of hardware that can be resold to someone who needs to replace their dpf.

      As both a diesel owner and with mechanical background some emissions aren't bad for the truck and some are. Dep and def are systems that help environment as well it doesn't hinder engine performance greatly. That being said EGR systems that are designed currently are horrible on engines and hinder health and performance in which a better system should be designed. My engine had crank breather going in front of turbo which can suck oil in which is not healthy for an engine in turn is worse for environment because it is running poorly. You don't have to hate a side or jump to concussions about people. We are smarter than that...I do like the truck but would be nice to know how you handled the computer side of those modifications.

At first it ran slow in my opinion for about 400 miles till I guess motor and ECM got it figured out and now I'm getting 6 mpg vs the 5.5 non deleted and I pull hills better. Stock tune not added power. I can do low 6s all week long but granted I do flatbed and have a stand up sleeper not flattop so that helps with mpg but I do notice it runs better. Just now warranty is trash on the motor but I didn't get an extended one when I purchased it last year as my down payment was maxed as it was so only 80,000 more miles and the warranty would be up anyways

      Yes the engine brake performance suffered significantly by removing the VGT turbo. It is the one disadvantage I've found. I do have some ideas I'm planning on trying though to improve it.

    What was the reason for getting rid of the vgt turbo?

    • @peterbiltlogger1189
      @peterbiltlogger1189  2 года назад +7

      @Mike Beasecker Some guys I've talked to up here are not getting very good life out of the VGT turbo after deleting the rest of the emissions system. Not sure if that's a tuning issue or not but they are very expensive to replace. And I also wanted to run straight pipes, and in my opinion the Cummins sound terrible with a VGT turbo unless you muffle them way down.

    • @windowrattler4520
      @windowrattler4520 2 года назад +7

      The turbo operation is intertwined with the egr operation and what tends to happen is the VGT isn't remapped properly or at all and the turbo over spins greatly reducing the life of the turbo.

    2 things. First of all you're going to blow out your air compressor by running the intake hose like that. That's putting pressurized air in there. The intake hose needs routed to the air cleaner pipe. Also if you're gonna go this route with a sig600 turbo and eliminate the vgt you can add another jake brake rocker shaft and jake solenoid to the rockers so you're jaking all 6 cylinders. We always had good luck with these. Just make sure if you crank up the hps that you're easy on the pedal for the first 5-10k miles. Or you'll crack a head.

      @@dieseljett1 I'm not gonna sit here and say I know it all. I'm still learning. But I'd love to hear your credentials. If I'm being honest I was drunk when I wrote this. But I've never taken an air compressor from negative intake air and put positive air to it. Doesn't seem like the right thing to do. I've seen compressors blow out due to it. Not alot but some. Also I meant you add a jake solenoid to increase jake oil psi. You gotta change the shaft to a dual drilled shaft. And if you wanna give all the beans to a freshly increased horsepower engine that's been broke in at a lower hp its whole life...more power to you. But you'll be overhauling it in less than a month.
