    I actually use a small layer of anti-seize compound on the flat side of the hub and it prevents that rust. My hubs come off easy every time.

    Great video! Any chance you know if/when the rear diff would have to be removed when doing a suspension rebuild?

    • @austinsoffroadgarage
      @austinsoffroadgarage  Год назад

      shouldn't need to remove the diff to do a suspension rebuild. I broke the teeth on the ring gear that is why this one was pulled out.

    Do you think its safe to change a 97 4runner Ltd 240k differential oil if it has never been changed before? Everything works well now.

    hank you for the amazing video. I just got a new 98 4runner. The 4WD would engage (solid green light) but to disengage after pressing the button the green light stay solid nothing happens right away but later after driving awhile there would be a BIG bang (shakes the car) and it disengages. Any guidance on what the problem is?

    • @austinsoffroadgarage
      @austinsoffroadgarage  3 года назад

      You need to make sure it disengaged before driving. Back up and pull forward a couple times and it should disengage for you. You are lucky it didn’t break your transfer case haha.

      @@austinsoffroadgarage you are supposed to be able to shift between 2H and 4H while moving. My other 4Runner just do a loud Click. But this one had a loud clunk, like smacking a sledgehammer.

    Austin maybe some high lift jack upgrade so that way you dont need to crawl under your rig

      I am currently working on getting a two post lift in my shop so I won't have to do that haha.

    How did you diagnose the trouble with ring gear? What were the symptoms?

    Is it hard to remove the complete harness with switch?

    Maybe I’m just not seeing it right but one of those stands doesn’t look like it’s holding anything.

    Hey dude nice work!
    Had a big question for you, I also have a 97 4runner, and I am trying to get 35s on it. How many inches should I lift it so it clears?

    • @austinsoffroadgarage
      @austinsoffroadgarage  4 года назад +2

      Thanks. A lot of people run a 1" body lift and a 3" suspension lift and do some trimming. Here is a video on how I did it. ruclips.net/video/VlPi6NfJEhM/видео.html
