Argenti is basically HSR Itto, but less well handled. I think he has a loooot of potential to grow as a likeable character, if not a crazy well-performing one. He already had a small but dedicated fanbase that grew EXPONENTIALLY with the release of Boothill and their shenanigans!!
He is still good with robin but needs a 5 star version of tingyun that gives something aside from energy regen. I have an alt dedicated to main him and is part of my daily cycles any my team there is argenti e1 s2, robin e0 s5 event weap, tingyun e6 dance s5, huohuo e0 perfect timing s5.
Ngl Argenti feels much closer to a POLARIZING character rather than a "Why No One Plays" type. You either obsess over him and his kit (like the other comments), or you sometimes forget he exists (me)
... but that's how it also works for the other why no one plays characters. those who do play the unpopular characters(arlan, yanqing etc) do so because they absolutely love their character to the point they ignore the meta and go all out on building them and making them work
To be fair I think in his endgame content video Vars said that it's kinda hard to make WNOP videos for star rail because between the diversity of endgame modes and the break mechanics, you're heavily encouraged to invest horizontally.

I do really think character appeal does a lot more than we think. I know Vars' mentioned it in the video regarding Argenti specifically, but we saw the same happen w/ Boothill, Jade, and Yunli. Boothill, imo, only got more popular amongst the fanbase after seeing more of him in the story and now that we see the Break meta as the giga strong meta it is. But that still doesn't help that when he was first announced, everyone was like "who?" (I remember Mina specifically tweeting "who are you???"). Now we need to see if the inverse is gonna be true; if Fugue/Tingyun and Sunday do extremely well, it proves just how important character appeal can be. I know in my case, I would've gone for Aventurine regardless because he was the new preservation character, but then his story quest really endeared me-and many others-to him, hence his insane popularity. Unless a new unit is so broken, like Feixiao, their appeal can be a huge carry for them. I eagerly await Sunday and Tingyun 2's ownership rates.

Argenti definitely one of the prettiest men hoyo have ever created (aventurine, ratio, jiaoqiu and many others are pretty af as well) I don't personally own Argenti but I will definitely be pulling for him on a future rerun, I still do miss his old va I will say though but I've gotten use to his new voice by now and have grown to like it. I like the rose knight, he's a silly guy, himbo energy (and well considered that his new va is the son of the icon who voiced kronk, we love himbo energy)
If u like I guess pull for him......but if u want a good PF unit, jade will do u better in long run or just get rappa who is just better version of argenti

Okay. I'm predicting a WNOP for Jade because she's in a similar predicament. Only appeared at the tale end of the Penacony arc. We don't know much about her as a character so players won't form a connection with her, not to mention that she's pretty hated by the community because she herself is not a good person. She's only good at one endgame mode and that automatically makes her less valuable to be pulled for.
Your right with the exception that her being a stoneheart means we'll definitely see more of her later on. Not to mention that while she only excels in pure fiction her FUA sub dps function is more flexible than Argenti's kit. Basically She's in a way better position rn because she can just assist other characters like yunli.
She’s good in any AoE fight, take her against Sunday / Choir she’ll clear them without problems and if you have Lingsha GG then they make an insane pair People make her a PF only unit when more and more fights are AoE (And AS has adds since it’s release)
Tbf jade gimmick is way easier to abuse compared to argenti. You can find an aoe damage dealer in any element, and as long as the enemy have multiple opponent and quantum weakness you can play her and have ok resoult. Exceptional in pf, but fine in moc. Playing her with yunlin was glorious.
At E1S1 her "only good at one game mode" dissipates somewhat, but it is a shame she wasn't picked up on. Her and Argenti are 2 of my personal favorites but I understand why people slept on them.

Argenti is probably gonna be like Keqing from Genshin, all it takes is one character/mechanic to make a character rise from the dead. Hoyo i is definitely gonna make another battery unit and when that happens Argenti is gonna be used everywhere
Well difference is Keqing is a standard banner unit while you have to go out of your way to get Argenti, so even if they do giga buff him, he's probably still not gonna be popular
Himeko is already the Keqing of Star Rail. She started out as a weak unit where she can only go up from there because since Pure Fiction and the Break meta, she's constantly maturing in value overtime. Heck, Fugue is coming out soon and her kit is practically made for Himeko.
It might be copium, but I can't help thinking they are setting him up to be something important in the story later down the line. Like, distracting us by him being comical, but keeping him on our minds until his big moment/reveal arrives. That or I'm just biased because he's a beautiful man.

Also want to point out how, like Misha, Argenti didn't get a dedicated set until this patch. Scholar Lost in Erudition is only now giving generic skill-based ult units those extra % they need to compete with follow-up and DoT. Otherwise, I definitely think Argenti, Boothill, and Rappa suffer from lack of buildup. The reactions I see is always, "Who," followed by, "This character is awesome! I kinda want to pull for them!" Argenti's companion quest did a lot to win people over, but when you got to plan your pulls in advance, it is too late for character appeal to matter by and large.
Is it even worth it to swap off the phys set for Scholar? The twenty to forty percent seems nice but is it gonna trump the physical boost and attack scailing?
His faction bogs him down a LOT, KoB is a lot like the Galaxy Rangers imo, both are enigmatic in nature and vary to each individual according to their idea of "beauty" or "hunt". But the Rangers are handled in a good way, making Acheron lie about being part of it before introducing Boothill who's a real Ranger, then having the Ranger's cameo arrival being a key plot point on beating Sunday's illusion, this also ties up nicely while introducing Rappa as another Ranger KoB members have done...nothing thus far, outside of Argenti we don't know anyone else who's a KoB or what their motivations are; even the path itself is underrepresented in the game; at least the Hunt, which the Rangers follow, also has the Xianzhou Aliance, so we can see the grand motivation behind their stories. I believe if they wanna do an update on Argenti he'll be remade into another 5* like DHIL or Fugue, his physical erudition will be left as a gag char

Argenti bros, I have 3 cycled the current MoC first phase using an Argenti and Himeko dual dps comp and with an Argenti hyper carry build. He might not zero cycle like current dps but he is still far from useless in MoC.
I can imagine a future character whose ult is charged by other characters using ults, or charged by the number of enemies attacked at once for a huge erudition snowball. Alternatively, if there is a future character that increases the damage or frequency of bounce damage, his second ult could be funny. I think he might have the only bounce ult in the game? So there's something there if they play into that

A lot of people also misplace Argenti's character as "only trying to find Idrilia." While this is a major part of his character, Argenti (from his character story, which most people miss because he isn't owned by many people) is on a crusade against an omen, similar to the story of the knight killing a dragon, then becoming that dragon themselves, Argenti is attemtping to fight against Finality's prophecy. Its a major part of his story a lot of people miss, I doubt this will be the last time we see him.

I’m an Argenti cope main fr. Realistically he’s godly in PF, and servicible in the other two modes - it’s just situational. If the meta ever shifts to waves of enemies or more bosses who share HP he could see a bit more use. He’s now where as bad as people say in the other two game modes, but it’s true that he’s nowhere close to tier 0
tbh, i don't know why Vars claim no one plays Argenti when he's SSS in PF tiers (lots of people use separate tiers for PF and MoC). i really haven't seen anyone talk about him negatively except people saying you can skip him if you want, but pulling for him is not detrimental also
P.S. (I know this is before, but this is more important) Argenti does give a reason why he's in Penacony after the full story, though I can't recall when you get the chance to ask him about it. He knows Aventurine. Aventurine brought him along as his backup to get him out of the realm of "Death" in case anything went wrong. Similarly, Sparkle was ONLY on Penacony because Silver Wolf was worried about SAM. It's kinda adorable why the heck these two are here when you look into it. ----- I do agree with Hoyo being the advent of the big sticking point of "waifu over meta" but I think there's a VERY specific reason for that. Genshin, in all it's popularity, is the first Gacha I've played, where no matter WHAT character I pick up, I go "Oh, they're viable" No matter WHAT in game you're doing, you can take your favorite character/s through it, barring the enemy being immune to their element. Prior to Genshin, there was a MASSIVE issue with the entire Gacha industry that 99% of the time, characters that just came out COMPLETELY invalidated starter characters, so it got harder, and harder, and HARDER to get INTO said Gacha, and similarly, if you put it DOWN it got harder to pick back UP. With games like Genshin, Star Rail, WuWa, ZZZ, PGR, any character you pick up is "good" weither how good you can't say, but Mualani doesn't Invalidate Childe, she's only SLIGHTLY stronger than him, (and lets face it, it's because she's easier to use)
Or even if a character is not amazing in isolation, most of the time you just need another character to make them go. For example, Yanqing - not the best 5 star in the game, but if you have him and Gepard you have a pretty viable single target nuke. Or Fancy Dan, who just needs some people who are generating skill points to make him go.
Argenti suffers from 1.x units syndrome, where Hoyo doesn't know wtf they're doing so just make most dps a generic hypercarry then completely forget about them later as they develops new play style instead
he's not terrible tbh. but his faction is an obscure one, with a dead Aeon. and said Aeon has made no appearance/relevance yet. so people forget about him. design wise though, i like him a lot. reminds me of that one Fate servant
The funny thing about this entire video is that you don't understand the whole point of Argenti's kit and what makes him legitimately the best most versatile DPS in the game. Argenti is in the unique position of being a jack of all trades while also being a master of one, he deals amazing AoE damage while also doing a ton of weakness break and has an ultimate that can funnel into a single target, which means if you build him right you can absolutely use him in all end content and clear them quickly as I do. Feixiao is absolute crap in Pure Fiction unless you have her built to the max, and because she's a single-target DPS she will never have the same overall versatility as Argenti. Acheron relies on debuffs and she doesn't do much weakness break which means she's bad for Apocalyptic Shadow or against any enemies that doesn't take debuffs or can clense. Firefly doesn't do true AoE and she's break reliant which makes her bad in Pure Fiction and against enemies that can protect their weaknesses, she's also bad in PF because she depends on a time-gated ultimate which runs the risk of it running out before you can break the enemies or move through waves. Meanwhile, Argenti can do basically everything while having a high specialty for AoE situations. I would say he's a much better pull value than most other DPSs, especially since there's a high chance that he's going to be continuously buffed in the future by newer characters thanks to his generality, unlike Acheron, Firefly, or Feixiao, which all have pretty set teams that are difficult to add to in the future.
In my opinion, his role in the story is just to throw in as a boss unit. The amount of times we have fought this man is absurdly high, probably more than any named character at this point. If we are to compare him to his fellow Erudition counterparts, I think Jade and Rappa are probably ahead of him already simply because they fit into a specific team comp, Jade being follow up and Rappa being Break. Rappa in particular has so far to my knowledge actually been pretty good in MoC and AS, though that may be because of the current cycle.

I mean, he's the AoE specialist and shines whenever there are such scenarios (mostly Pure Fiction, but we can see their nudging to AoE on some bosses for the Apocalytic Shadow, such as Aventurine and Sunday)
The explanation for Argenti on Penacony was to help Aventurine return after getting "killed" and sent to the Nihility zone with Acheron For the Xianzhou, he was accompanying a "legendary" cursed sword to return it to the maker, which was Yunli's father

Anyways, I use people's Argenti support when I farm because he still is strong at least to me. I have him as my support and he is one of my most used supports. I absolutely love this man and have since release. I think his continued interactions with boothill are gaining him popularity to. And they did give explanations to both of his appearances. In Penacony he saved Aventurine and in the wardance he was returning a sentient blade back to the luofu and fulfilling its wish. He also participated in the wardance because he gave boothill a six hour lecture on why he cant be scaring luka.
Never have i ever regret pulling for Kurama. Carried me through early PF, GnG appeared and i destroyed it with Erudition path, can be used in Apoc like what more can this dude do. AOE units are broken on HSR so i dunno why even rappa got shitted on by players when i pulled for her.
Got him E0 on his release even tho I had to go to 80 pity twice and got his LC on his rerun. Hes one of my most used characters and usually brute forces some stages of MOC and PF for me since he likes to pull out a 500k fully charged Ult most times. Generally an overlooked and unappreciated character, especially bc his F2P teams are generally easy to get😅
2:05 my five cents: I got spoiled that Firefly is SAM while I was doing military service and hence unable to play, got back home and soon after I see Firefly, pulled without a thought didn't even read the kit. I initially built her 2p2p Cavalry ATK with crits, paired with a lucky pull Ruan Mei, Asta and sustain

Okay. I'm predicting a WNOP for Jade because she's in a similar predicament. Only appeared at the tale end of the Penacony arc. We don't know much about her as a character so players won't form a connection with her, not to mention that she's pretty hated by the community because she herself is not a good person. She's only good at one endgame mode and that automatically makes her less valuable to be pulled for.
Your right with the exception that her being a stoneheart means we'll definitely see more of her later on. Not to mention that while she only excels in pure fiction her FUA sub dps function is more flexible than Argenti's kit. Basically She's in a way better position rn because she can just assist other characters like yunli.
While you're at it, might as well prepare for the "Why no one plays Rappa".
She’s good in any AoE fight, take her against Sunday / Choir she’ll clear them without problems and if you have Lingsha GG then they make an insane pair
People make her a PF only unit when more and more fights are AoE (And AS has adds since it’s release)
Tbf jade gimmick is way easier to abuse compared to argenti.
You can find an aoe damage dealer in any element, and as long as the enemy have multiple opponent and quantum weakness you can play her and have ok resoult. Exceptional in pf, but fine in moc.
Playing her with yunlin was glorious.
At E1S1 her "only good at one game mode" dissipates somewhat, but it is a shame she wasn't picked up on. Her and Argenti are 2 of my personal favorites but I understand why people slept on them.

Himeko is already the Keqing of Star Rail. She started out as a weak unit where she can only go up from there because since Pure Fiction and the Break meta, she's constantly maturing in value overtime. Heck, Fugue is coming out soon and her kit is practically made for Himeko.

It might be copium, but I can't help thinking they are setting him up to be something important in the story later down the line. Like, distracting us by him being comical, but keeping him on our minds until his big moment/reveal arrives. That or I'm just biased because he's a beautiful man.

Also want to point out how, like Misha, Argenti didn't get a dedicated set until this patch. Scholar Lost in Erudition is only now giving generic skill-based ult units those extra % they need to compete with follow-up and DoT.
Otherwise, I definitely think Argenti, Boothill, and Rappa suffer from lack of buildup. The reactions I see is always, "Who," followed by, "This character is awesome! I kinda want to pull for them!" Argenti's companion quest did a lot to win people over, but when you got to plan your pulls in advance, it is too late for character appeal to matter by and large.
Is it even worth it to swap off the phys set for Scholar? The twenty to forty percent seems nice but is it gonna trump the physical boost and attack scailing?

His faction bogs him down a LOT, KoB is a lot like the Galaxy Rangers imo, both are enigmatic in nature and vary to each individual according to their idea of "beauty" or "hunt". But the Rangers are handled in a good way, making Acheron lie about being part of it before introducing Boothill who's a real Ranger, then having the Ranger's cameo arrival being a key plot point on beating Sunday's illusion, this also ties up nicely while introducing Rappa as another Ranger
KoB members have done...nothing thus far, outside of Argenti we don't know anyone else who's a KoB or what their motivations are; even the path itself is underrepresented in the game; at least the Hunt, which the Rangers follow, also has the Xianzhou Aliance, so we can see the grand motivation behind their stories.
I believe if they wanna do an update on Argenti he'll be remade into another 5* like DHIL or Fugue, his physical erudition will be left as a gag char

Argenti bros, I have 3 cycled the current MoC first phase using an Argenti and Himeko dual dps comp and with an Argenti hyper carry build. He might not zero cycle like current dps but he is still far from useless in MoC.
I can imagine a future character whose ult is charged by other characters using ults, or charged by the number of enemies attacked at once for a huge erudition snowball.
Alternatively, if there is a future character that increases the damage or frequency of bounce damage, his second ult could be funny. I think he might have the only bounce ult in the game? So there's something there if they play into that

A lot of people also misplace Argenti's character as "only trying to find Idrilia."
While this is a major part of his character, Argenti (from his character story, which most people miss because he isn't owned by many people) is on a crusade against an omen, similar to the story of the knight killing a dragon, then becoming that dragon themselves, Argenti is attemtping to fight against Finality's prophecy. Its a major part of his story a lot of people miss, I doubt this will be the last time we see him.

I’m an Argenti cope main fr. Realistically he’s godly in PF, and servicible in the other two modes - it’s just situational. If the meta ever shifts to waves of enemies or more bosses who share HP he could see a bit more use. He’s now where as bad as people say in the other two game modes, but it’s true that he’s nowhere close to tier 0
tbh, i don't know why Vars claim no one plays Argenti when he's SSS in PF tiers (lots of people use separate tiers for PF and MoC). i really haven't seen anyone talk about him negatively except people saying you can skip him if you want, but pulling for him is not detrimental also
P.S. (I know this is before, but this is more important) Argenti does give a reason why he's in Penacony after the full story, though I can't recall when you get the chance to ask him about it. He knows Aventurine. Aventurine brought him along as his backup to get him out of the realm of "Death" in case anything went wrong. Similarly, Sparkle was ONLY on Penacony because Silver Wolf was worried about SAM. It's kinda adorable why the heck these two are here when you look into it.

I do agree with Hoyo being the advent of the big sticking point of "waifu over meta" but I think there's a VERY specific reason for that.
Genshin, in all it's popularity, is the first Gacha I've played, where no matter WHAT character I pick up, I go "Oh, they're viable" No matter WHAT in game you're doing, you can take your favorite character/s through it, barring the enemy being immune to their element.
Prior to Genshin, there was a MASSIVE issue with the entire Gacha industry that 99% of the time, characters that just came out COMPLETELY invalidated starter characters, so it got harder, and harder, and HARDER to get INTO said Gacha, and similarly, if you put it DOWN it got harder to pick back UP.
With games like Genshin, Star Rail, WuWa, ZZZ, PGR, any character you pick up is "good" weither how good you can't say, but Mualani doesn't Invalidate Childe, she's only SLIGHTLY stronger than him, (and lets face it, it's because she's easier to use)
Or even if a character is not amazing in isolation, most of the time you just need another character to make them go. For example, Yanqing - not the best 5 star in the game, but if you have him and Gepard you have a pretty viable single target nuke. Or Fancy Dan, who just needs some people who are generating skill points to make him go.
You either Absolutely love and adore the Goat Argenti, or you have no idea who he is. There is literally no in between.

tbh i stopped using him when his voice changed, he feels more like a gag character now but I really preferred when he sounded gentle.
The funny thing about this entire video is that you don't understand the whole point of Argenti's kit and what makes him legitimately the best most versatile DPS in the game. Argenti is in the unique position of being a jack of all trades while also being a master of one, he deals amazing AoE damage while also doing a ton of weakness break and has an ultimate that can funnel into a single target, which means if you build him right you can absolutely use him in all end content and clear them quickly as I do. Feixiao is absolute crap in Pure Fiction unless you have her built to the max, and because she's a single-target DPS she will never have the same overall versatility as Argenti. Acheron relies on debuffs and she doesn't do much weakness break which means she's bad for Apocalyptic Shadow or against any enemies that doesn't take debuffs or can clense. Firefly doesn't do true AoE and she's break reliant which makes her bad in Pure Fiction and against enemies that can protect their weaknesses, she's also bad in PF because she depends on a time-gated ultimate which runs the risk of it running out before you can break the enemies or move through waves. Meanwhile, Argenti can do basically everything while having a high specialty for AoE situations. I would say he's a much better pull value than most other DPSs, especially since there's a high chance that he's going to be continuously buffed in the future by newer characters thanks to his generality, unlike Acheron, Firefly, or Feixiao, which all have pretty set teams that are difficult to add to in the future.
In my opinion, his role in the story is just to throw in as a boss unit. The amount of times we have fought this man is absurdly high, probably more than any named character at this point.
If we are to compare him to his fellow Erudition counterparts, I think Jade and Rappa are probably ahead of him already simply because they fit into a specific team comp, Jade being follow up and Rappa being Break. Rappa in particular has so far to my knowledge actually been pretty good in MoC and AS, though that may be because of the current cycle.

5:07 Argenti was the one who found the sword that was going to be given away for the winner of the wardance. It was revealed in Yunli's char quest
The explanation for Argenti on Penacony was to help Aventurine return after getting "killed" and sent to the Nihility zone with Acheron
For the Xianzhou, he was accompanying a "legendary" cursed sword to return it to the maker, which was Yunli's father

I have him as my support and he is one of my most used supports. I absolutely love this man and have since release. I think his continued interactions with boothill are gaining him popularity to.
And they did give explanations to both of his appearances. In Penacony he saved Aventurine and in the wardance he was returning a sentient blade back to the luofu and fulfilling its wish. He also participated in the wardance because he gave boothill a six hour lecture on why he cant be scaring luka.
Never have i ever regret pulling for Kurama. Carried me through early PF, GnG appeared and i destroyed it with Erudition path, can be used in Apoc like what more can this dude do. AOE units are broken on HSR so i dunno why even rappa got shitted on by players when i pulled for her.

Got him E0 on his release even tho I had to go to 80 pity twice and got his LC on his rerun. Hes one of my most used characters and usually brute forces some stages of MOC and PF for me since he likes to pull out a 500k fully charged Ult most times. Generally an overlooked and unappreciated character, especially bc his F2P teams are generally easy to get😅

I initially built her 2p2p Cavalry ATK with crits, paired with a lucky pull Ruan Mei, Asta and sustain
