    Thanks for the video. I'm searching for someone to post one that tells me why MrCool isn't as good as it appears. I need to replace my old household units and these seem too easy not to use.

      These units are manufactured by Midea, they manufacture Mr.Cool, Gree, Pioneer, OXBOX , Bosch mini and full size, Carrier mini splits, Haier mini splits, Hessaire, and they used to build Ameristar for Trane. So they definitely know what they are doing.

    I installed 2 of these bad boys. Need to switch to 4 tons - bill was high. Hit 3600kw in january(first month) was a little shocked. But man our house was warm for once. No heat strips installed! Never missed a beat. Minus 9 f outside- 73 inside. 6000sf house. Next month (Feb) 3000kw. Next month 2600kw. Now April 2023 and it’s off - thank god. Lol it is high quality for sure. My 2 tranes I took out look so cheesy compared to these. I love it. Just need solar now to run it all.

    I just purchased one of these 4 to 5 ton units and am about to install it into my house. When i ordered this I was told I needed a 4 ton unit but after further investigation it appears a 5 ton would work better. So I guess all I have to do is set this thing to 5 ton mode and that’s it right? No need to exchange anything? Wow how cool is that!

    • @TylerCary
      @TylerCary  3 года назад

      Correct on the control panel you can slide it to 5 ton, the reason someone would use one rather than the other would be to avoid short cycles I believe

      did you also experience P5 error ?

    • @hedge605
      @hedge605 2 года назад

      @@RRmelgar they sent us that same board for the previous unit also to fix the P5 code. It had new software on it and it did fix it! For about 6 months. However the unit failed again this time with a dead compressor. Both times the unit ultimately failed with failed compressor for us. No refrigerant leaks that I can see anywhere. We will install our the third brand new unit this weekend. Did you use precharged no-vac lineset?
      P5 was the same error for us which even after a new board still ended up resulting in complete failure after some time.
      Also, be careful when you change the circuit board with all the wire harnesses. There are tiny retaining clips on every single connector that need to be removed before you can disconnect each plug. And they are easy to drop and lose.

    Hi Tyler- great video. What do you think of the unit after running it for a year?

    • @TylerCary
      @TylerCary  2 года назад

      It has been great, in our shop we run a large dryer at 330 degrees and the unit is able to keep the temperature down. When we are not in production it can quickly drop the temperature. In the winter I don’t use the heat pump often only because our dryer puts out heat. But I do run the fan to keep the warm air circulating in the building.

    I am planning an install for a Mr Cool 4-5 ton Universal unit and I am curious how much condensation are you getting from the outdoor unit? I am planning on moving the location of the outside compressor unit to an upstairs balcony but I am concerned the condensation my be too great to control and divert off that deck surface? Thanks for any help.

    • @TylerCary
      @TylerCary  2 года назад

      The condensation only comes from the air handler inside, we run a small line to the drain. You could connect to a rain gutter or any inside drain if needed also.

    • @TylerCary
      @TylerCary  3 года назад

      Servicing the unit seems like it will be very easy to access. The only difference in my opinion with this unit vs other units is that you can connect charged lines without any special tools. The condenser is set up like many of the mini splits that seem to have a long track history. Having had it open the internals were very basic. That’s a positive in my opinion.

      The area the unit is in is about 24x70, we would set it around 70-72 during production when our dryer was running. It runs at 330 degrees, is well insulated but puts off some heat.
