Wow! I have never heard of this technique. That’s actually why I clicked on this video. Nice tutorial and I will have to try this technique. I love line and wash and have only found two other artists on RUclips that do line and wash tutorials..now I found you also!
Thank you for another excellent tutorial John. I recall someone else (can't remember who it was) saying that if you do accidentally lift your pen off the paper that's ok as long as you start again from the point where you lifted - hope that makes sense!
When I first started drawing many years ago I learned by continuous line drawing, even blind contour drawing. Great video, I'm going to start warming up again using this technique.
Thank you, John! I find your videos very soothing. I shall definitely try this as an exercise because I cannot seem to make loose sketches. It was very helpful indeed!
Thank you for this. I am always so uptight but this really helped me have more expressive lines. The idea that you could just go back over your line to get back to where you need to be was the best tip ever! I'm feeling a little stupid but duh! Thank you
Incredible ... You are pushing us beyond our (supposed) limits. I'll try tomorrow but not sure of the result. If you ever have some time later in autumn, a tuto showing how you managed the river in your (old) drawing showing a bridge in foreground , you would make me more than happy. Another one dedicated to how to shape the stones (one by one) of your dry stone walls would be fantastic ! (I just do not "understand" how to manage ... Thank you again and again. Thank you for taking the time to share your skills John. Very instructive. I am interested in your sketchbook of choice. I have tried this and usually regret not making a few rough pencil marks first. However, I guess that's the whole point isn't it? Thanks again.
I enjoy doing this as a warm up. This was a brilliant demo, thank you.
Another amazing drawing drawn without lifting the pen..think it gives the lines more character
Excellent as usual. Nice Seiko as well! Best regards. X

Always a pleasure to watch you sketching John. 🙌
A fabulous drawing. I must try that technique. Thanks John and welcome back.
Thanks for sharing your talent! I have tried this in the past with pencil and it’s not easy!

Excellent John - and thanks for the shout out. A technique I must try as I find my drawing is getting a little too stiff !
Thank you! I found you yesterday on an etchr tutorial. I can't wait to try this. It's encouraging to know that a lot of us struggle to be loose😊

I watched the video to the end.
And the reference is of Cove Harbour near Cockburnspath - East coast Scottish Borders!

That’s marvellous to hear Susan… so glad it’s been of use.
Best wishes
