      Thank you for your very helpful videos. Just wondering if you have covered the topic about which foods to avoid if experiencing vocal cord tension or hoarseness or pain? Some say cold drinks or food such as ice cream is okay, but some say it is okay. What do you think about chocolates and coffee?

    Great video.
    My question is this: for better resonance should we sing with our nostrils expanded at all times? or is this just for exercise purposes thanks!

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  2 года назад +1

      It depends. There are singers who have their nostrils open because it activates other musculature that helps them "support" their voice or create a bigger resonating space. But if you can open those spaces without flaring the nostrils, then just use nose flare as a prompt. It's your choice.

    Katarina madam I saw you so many days. What happened madam ? All your videos are very useful for me. Especially phonation after straw exercise. Recently I heard a words i.e., Direct Voice Rehabilitation and Mid section Breathing for clear voice. Please make a video on these.

      Yes, you are right. I was absent for a little bit but for good reasons - I needed to recharge and I was working on new projects. But now, I am back. Thank you for being a loyal follower!

    You are a truly wonderful teacher and such a nice person! I am so glad I discovered your channel. Watching these videos calms me down and motivates me a lot ! One question: do you drink coffee? I wonder if that dries the vocal chords. ( I drink two big cups every morning )
    I wish you a wonderful 2022!!

      Thank you Lua for your very kind words. Yes, I drink coffee. I love my coffee and I also have two cups in the morning. In the past, we thought that coffee was very dehydrating but it is not as dehydrating than we originally thought. So it is ok to drink coffee as long as it is not the only liquid you drink. Have a wonderful 2022 too!

      @@healthyvoicetips Hello Katarina!! It is so nice to hear from you! Thank you so much for taking the time to respond! I would love to return you the favour, so I would love to recommend you to listen to two excellent podcasts that could be very interesting for you as a vocal coach:
      1. One is the podcast of the most famous famous vocal coach in USA named Eric Vetro. He is the teacher of Ariana Grande, Shawn Mendes etc. He is very similar to you in terms of personality: he absolutely loves his work, he is brilliant at it and he is extremely modest and kind. I am sure you would love his podcast, where he interviews his own students. The podcast is called " Backstage Pass" I would recommend you especially the episode with John Legend.
      2. One of the best non fictions writers in USA, Michael Lewis, made a whole season on Coaches in general and in one of them he gets coached by Eric Vetro. Imagine having a student who hates singing and has a phobia of singing! It is amazing how Eric Vetro takes this man's fears away and step by step makes him love singing. It is an absolutely heartwarming and very interesting episode. You can find it if you search for this on youtube:
      "Against the Rules with Michael Lewis | June 16, 2020 | Aim Higher"
      Once again thank you so much for your wonderful videos that helped me lot! Much love to you from Cologne, Germany!

      I don't think I made a video just on this topic but I mentioned it several times in my videos. Foods and voice are very individual. My recommendation is to avoid foods that you are allergic or intolerant to. For example, I don't eat dairy because I am lactose intolerant. Other than that, I would experiment. I personally have a few food sensitivities (like peppers) so I am trying to manage those. I personally drink coffee, it does not influence me. For others, coffee can be triggering acid reflux or can cause sleep disturbances (and for good vocal health, you need good sleep). As far as I know, there is no specific food that would cause tension or pain. But people may develop reactions to some foods, so do an eating journal and see if you can find some patterns between what you eat and how your voice feels.

    Hi, Katarina! I’ve only just started Day 1 of this plan, and I’m really looking forward to it. A question for Day 1- Is it normal for there to be so much clicking?? There’s no physical pain, but the sound of it is a bit uncomfortable.

    • @healthyvoicetips

      Yes, clicking is normal. Good timing of your question. I just released a video on that. You can watch it here: ruclips.net/video/alXC-sxdi5A/видео.html

      @@healthyvoicetips Hi..thanks for responding 😃
      As suggested by my Speech Therapist, I went for 7-8 hrs voice rest (he had suggested for 16 hrs, which was obviously not possible). Salt water gargles and having warm water. This has helped sometimes..but the effect isn't long lasting. Sometimes it becomes extremely painful and I'm not able to speak at all. Kindly help with a long-term/permanent solution other than surgery.. I would be highly grateful! 🙏😊

    With the first exercise i felt a small bump moving around from one side to the other when gently pushing?? Is that normal? It wasnt painful or anything but i have no idea what it was haha, thanks for the videos.
    I love ranting for ages about the things i like but its so exhausting, when i talk in my natural voice its like my voice is "to deep" for me, its raspy. Like a "uuuhg" rumble sound idk? I also have breathing issues due to anxiety (always breathe using my chest) i just wanna talk without feeling like im pushing everything in my throat down or having to talk in a singy high voice that doesnt feel like "me"

    • @healthyvoicetips
      @healthyvoicetips  Год назад

      The bump that you felt moving may be one of the cartilages in your larynx or maybe the hyoid bone?Have you ever tried to speak to a voice therapist to address your voice concerns?
