I took an outdoor education course and the instructor said you have to cook and eat a hundred metres downwind of your tent to avoid drawing predators in. So is this actually unnecessary, since you're cooking right outside your tent or with all these videos of people cooking on woodstoves inside next to their cots?
This is the kind of video that got me hooked... Your old bushcraft camp videos. Just building a home away from home with natural resources and a few QOL items from home. Especially with all the chaos in the world, you've built an escape for the rest of us to join you. Thank you.

There are a lot of videos out there that do the same thing, you actually explain what's going on and how you do it and where you get your ideas from, it is very very cool,..my heart wants to go deep constructa shelter out of whatever there was to build a stationary structure, With with all your, Love n knowledge from your Pops😅 💥 A powerful connection, in which one can share with their own children.❤️ Thank you

A great video lad, enjoyed that immensely. I think ya should do a three day camp every day 😅😂. Long time since I had any pigeon. Really did like them. The Da used to shoot them regularly and I was given the job of plucking them.. hated it! I'd rather skin 20 rabbits before plucking one pigeon😅
New to the channel, first video I have seen and absolutely loving the dream there. Tent, shotgun, hoping for fresh food. All I’d need is my springer with me and absolutely perfect. Now to watch some more vids and talk to the local keeper to see if he’ll let me go 😂
That’s a great tent but I really like that WWII officer’s tent you showed us before. It would probably benefit from a water proofing treatment but, I would love to have one. Easy enough to modify into a hot tent. Just seemed roomier compared to this one. Fun trip out. 🍻👍🇺🇸✌️
Laying on my bed watching on a Wednesday morning enjoying watching camping and hunting gut turned a little at the rare pigeon, as I like my meat well done. I not shot a rifle or shotgun here in Australia since the government buy back and they made it mandatory to be licensed I did it for a few years but decided there was no point as I don’t live in the outback anymore and don’t need to put stock out of its pain or do any pig or roo shooting I have not renewed my license.
Nice video Mike. Back in 🇨🇦 you have to wear a bright orange vest when hunting, don't have to wear ear defenders. Cos you don't want bears, cougars, Coyotes & wolf's, sneaky up on you. Especially cougars, BIG kitty cat .
All hunting is with the owner or occupier's explicit permission. So we don't really have situations where multiple people are hunting on the same land and unaware of each other. Or at least we shouldn't. So there isn't the same need for hunters to wear orange. Maybe trespassers should though 😀
I’m curious about your table! I really like the larger ones. I haven’t been able to find a metal one like that. A fabric table is all I have been able to find! Thanks again
I’ve been known to put a whole game hen into a crockpot before… my mom used to tell me when growing up in the 50s and early 60s, every so often they would head back to South Dakota or Wisconsin to see the family on either side, and they had no idea how to cook a decent pheasant… and she also broke / bent her braces on the birdshot at least once, which undid work and extended time having to wear them. I’m yet to get the chance myself, but hope to someday. I picked up a few tips from MeatEater on how to make a juicy pheasant. Pigeon looks very different than what us citydiots in America see, very deep red… making my mouth water all the way over here! Can’t go wrong with butter for frying… or if you’re crossing the mountains on foot or up in Alaska, frying everything in rendered bear or pig fat-especially ones fattened on wild blue berries, just be sure to cook it very well, since trichinosis is no fun as “MeatEater” also found out that one time.
Great Video, Mike! I never used earmuffs during the hunt, as I am used to hear what's going on around me, shot many game birds including ducks and geese by hearing their take off and turning to them ready just before they fly out of shooting distance. As I hunted in bear country, it was vital to hear all the woodland noise and sounds as well. I know modern earmuffs just cancel the shot noise(I used earmuffs on gun ranges only), but wanted to hear your experience in hunting scenarios, how well you can hear when you have them on. Thanks in advance, JEBO!

Brilliant video. SO jealous of your set up. Land has got so expensive in Scotland at the moment would love to do similar set up to yours. Will have to keep saving.
This tent was delivered to me a few hours ago. I'm really pleased to see your setup. I'd like you to note the tent name in your video title so those searching for info could easily find your excellent content. I had a concern about the groundsheet, but there appears to be no issue with table, chair or camp bed pressure points on the groundsheet. Good to know. I'll be using a SS pipe stove. I've never hot tent camped before but I was wondering if the silicone type chimney port attached to the chimney outlet might provide a really safe option. I note you don't mention a carbon monoxide alarm, ( or if you did I missed it). Most other camp stove users do recommend one. Very good content and really useful setup info. Thank you. 👍
Happy days! I've spent several trips like this. Sadly having moved from Kent to Wiltshire this year, and with the land I used to have a permission on, sold off, I no longer have anywhere to practice my passion. 😕😞
Just a suggestion. When hunting, I have always had more success when I break up my walking pattern. That is, I don't just walk around with a gun. Take a few steps, stop and look around (including behind you). Walk a little more, stop and look, etc. etc. I find this does 2 things. 1. I don't sound like a human stumping around, and 2. I see a lot more of my surroundings. Especially if a hare or other animal was hiding and then tries to get away now I'm past them. Even if I don't find any game, I am far more aware of my surroundings, and enjoy it more.
I LOVED IT BUDDY, REALLY GREAT VIDEO. THAT TENT IS JUST 2 COOL 4 SCHOOL, CARY ON MY GOOD MAN! ... M. PS: ON MY WAY NOW FOR SOME LIFE OF MIKE, ALSO EXCEPTIONALLY COOL. LATER BRO.

I thought there would be more actual bushcraft, such as properly showing the daldinia concentrica, although I have used it in pouring rain to get a fire started before! The crane is a handy device. How much difference in degrees does the stove make, please?
I've got a couple of scandigrind knives. I've kept one as is and sharpend the other to a scandivex style. It's really good, I'd say a master of none (bushcraft v survival) but pretty good at both including dressing game.
