Equivalent price of £790 today, too. It was the 4090 of its day for less than a 3rd of the available price. When 4090s were launching here. £2000-3000 was the money you'd be expected to pay.
btw glad you added ashes of singularity its only game I know that has explicit multi-GPU support meaning it can run on 2 different GPU in dual mode on dx12 mode, thats also only game I managed run amd S10000 using both core on og firepro bios (not 7990 flashed) , game also has benchmark build in for either gpu focus or cpu focus. Hope it will be good game for ur benchmarks. Thanks.
Nice addition to the video to show case the GPU :) please do this for future videos as well even 5-10 sec showcase at the beginning or at the end 💪🏽🙏🏽 nice one man
Good video. It's a card from an interesting era. The raw GPU horsepower this has, is displayed in Crysis. Would be interesting to see the HD 6990 tested, which has twice the VRAM. I believe the reason dual GPU support is outdated, only has to do with business (they want consumers to replace their GPU, so they can sell new ones). The tech itself works fine, when supported.
True and i think there's definitely a market for high-performance, offline capable machines. I think we'll see a resurgence in that area soon, driven by a growing desire for privacy and independence from this constant online connectivity.
"they want consumers to replace their GPU, so they can sell new ones" That's not the reason. Not even remotely. If it were: Why would they sell the 4090 to gamers for thousands? Actually. The main reason why multi-gpu era is dead is because it was janky, barely ever worked, and they learned how to make bigger cores for cheaper. Simple as that. It's just economics and practicality.
@@DanielCardei too late for that im affraid Daniel :( Only 1 chip is recognised in device manager (without drivers) and Windows wont load with drivers installed. I'm still glad to have it as I think less than 1000 were made.
@jakepatton3493 I have one too and it's broken and i want to fix it. Idea was to make some measurement like resistance to map the card and to know where the fault leads. I understand the feeling on having a rare card like that.
I wonder if it were modded to have 2, or 4 GBs what it would do. Probably actually would use less than 8. I didn't know that crossfire added the cards vram together unlike Nvidia
@@DanielCardeiI have no idea,i looked it out on the internet and some say that the game is more cpu intensive and unity games dont support much dual gpu's .
This card is Super Duper Fantastic for a so old video card. I remebmer like it was yesterday, I was ready to buy the hd6990 new back in the 2011 summer at 600+€. I Never bought the 6990 finally. Instead, afew years later I bought the hd5970 used from ebay and never regreted (except of its XXXL Size). I Also own the hd 4870, not so crazy powerful card, and its biggest downgrade its the Dx10 limit. And as 4the end, I dont give af*** really personally for the games out of the reach zone of Dx11. I Really, dont even want to know about their existence. So, dont make a video about those games that the hd5970 cant play. Its something like they dont even, ever sould exist those games.
I knew it this thing was a damn monster back than. Thanks for bring this 5970 to a vídeo.👌

You’re entertaining! & I have a blower style GTX 1080ti so that fan noise sounds so familiar 😆

that is perfect to see you still have HD 5970 and making movie with it.

While visually the 5xxx line of Radeons is great, the cooling of them coolers not soo.
true. this card needs constant maintenance and if you do that you maybe get to keep auto fan and keep the card cool and quiet.

Sapphire did a 4GB Toxic version. Limited numbers & very expensive at the time. I'm lucky enough to have one in my collection.
