The Maestro... RIP. He styled amazing cars in an era that is now long gone at MB. Elegance, functionality, no unnecessary bulges or lines. All that is gone these days. I feel very fortunate to own a C215, one of his last designs (together with Peter Arcadipane). Thanks for the nice video collage.
Wow… didn’t know Sacco spoke German that well. Impressive! RIP - one of the all time greats. He and his team really shaped an era at Mercedes-Benz. Quite literally. The R129 - is still one of the most beautiful SL for example.
Not only one of the greatest MB designers, but one of the greatest automobile designers of all times. Clear lines, timeless elegance. My personal favorite is the BR126 (both W126 und C126 are equally beautiful in their own way), but almost all his designs were perfect. Concepts of brand design like vertical affinity and vertical homogenity were first defined by him and then used all over the industry. Sadly, in the last 1-2 decades most brands seem to have forgotten them. Even MB themselves seem to have forgotten them for a while, but luckily seem to do better again most recently.
Er und seine Mannschaft haben tolle Autos designt - hatte einige W124 und einen W126. Zeitlos und schön. Zuletzt (2014) fuhr ich noch einen S205 als Dienstwagen - auch sehr schön. Seither ist Schluss mit Mercedes! Das Desingn ist allerwelt und nur noch rundgelutscht!
Quite simply, the most prolific and legendary car designer of all time. He was responsible for or oversaw an incredible number of MB cars over the decades which still today, 25 years after his retirement are widely regarded as among the best ever.

Another twentieth century icon. A period of cars without iPads bolted to the dashboard, controls with haptic feedback that work less than 50% of the time, and when driving meant looking at the road ahead, not scrolling through menus to listen to your favorite tunes.
Decades ago, I remember Mr Sacco explaining that the 126 and other MBs of the time featured horizontal indentations (lower side panels and tail lights) in response to mud. The ribbed side panels slowed the upward movement of mud from the roads to the windows (and also strengthened the sheet metal). The ribbed tail lights allowed half of the lens to be visible despite caked on dirt. This seemed so practical that I was sure MB would carry it forward for future generations. But it was discontinued in the next series as if it were just a styling trick.

I am sad to hear about the passing of Bruno Sacco. He was the brilliant designer who brought Daimler Benz from the rather old-fashioned styling into the modern era, without being as aggressive as the cars look now. The cars he designed were the best of the brand! Timeless classic which still look modern.
Auch wenn die berühmte Losung, dass das Aussehen eines Mercedes bloss stets in Rufweite der Mode sein muss, nicht von ihm stammt, so hat er diese doch am besten verinnerlicht. Vielen Dank für Ihre zahlreichen zeitlos-eleganten Kreationen und gute Reise, Maestro!
Dass er selbst, vermutlich als Einziger, überrascht war in die Automotive Hall of Fame aufgenommen zu werden sagt eigentlich alles über Herrn Sacco aus. Er war ein seriöser Visionär, in Zeiten in denen wir täglich mit gesichtlosen, banalen und überstylten Designs konfrontiert werden wünscht man sich Menschen wie Ihn umso mehr zurück. Jedes Mal wenn man einen R129, W126, 190er, W124 sieht wird man an Ihn denken, nach ihm kam kein Design mehr bei Mercedes, nur noch Styling. Sehr traurig.
Seit 1958? Das überrascht mich jetzt. Ich dachte bislang, in den Sechziger Jahren wäre Paul Bracq der Chefstilist gewesen, mit dessen Namen ich eigentlich die Philosophie "ohne Schnickschnack" verbinde, und bis dahin Bela Barenyi (wenn ich das richtig geschrieben habe).

One of the best designers of all time! Wish the "designers" today had unique principles to establishing genuinely special and awesome designs, but instead it's all become homogenous. There need to be more Saccos in this world and less Dukecs or Wageners.

Bruno was DER BESTE Designer von M-B in der Moderner Era. Besonders die 560 SEC war AUSGEZEIGHNET. (Er Fuerht sein eigenen 560 SEC taeglich noch heute), Die grosser S class 140 von 1991-99 was auch Monumental, aber, wie Bruno Selbst sagt, es war bischen zu gross (Height, not mass or volume).
