Can we get a superb snakehead adventure? I'd love to see your reaction when you hookset a 10lb< snakehead. Caught my two PB's @ 9lb & 11.8lb Snakehead during the cat spawn this year, Rappahannock. Also caught a reward tagged bass... of course, they never answered my calls. Going out every day this week, aiming at the bigger snakehead.
@johnstallings4049 Dragon slayers we are. Man, Justin would love it! I've been using a Golly Whopper rod these past few days of snakehead fishing. Absolutely love it! It's action is perfect for my style.
Steak deals for all of your viewers to take advantage of at the store. If you can buy a chuck eye steak, buy it. The USDA only allows ribeye steaks up to the 7th rib and the chuck eye steak is from the 7th rib. It’s a little smaller steak, but it’s the same cut as a ribeye and it’s half the price. Make sure you’re not getting chuck roast, which is best cooked for a long time.
Would you say letting the lure slowly sink and reeling it in catches more fish than a live worm with a bobber??? I grew up using a bobber and I don't have much success with casting and doing whatever retrieve style is why I'm asking. I think I caught one small bass out of every lure and retrieve style I've tried within the past 6 months if I decide to messin with lures. Just seems like casting over and over verses just waiting on the fish to hammer the worm.
Artificial baits allow you to make more casts and spend less time rebaiting than with a live bait like a worm. Both methods work extremely well though. It’s just a matter of which you prefer.
Just an FYI, after 2001 Alabama did change the design of there A logo after the braves made an argument for it. It is still similar but not at all hard to no the difference. The old one was so close that if you don't know about the "mullet"😂 you could easily mistake one for the other. Now it is more than just that to make it easier to tell them apart
J D powers the 3rd - James David Powers 111 2:58:55 is who that award is named after lol, also I watched a video of a guy that ultra light fishes with jigs all the time and he uses heavy mono to make those jigs weed less, I tried it and it works. You hang up a lot less and easy to tie on jig head
If I wanted to fish for bluegill and bass on the side and I was out of of real worms (I got those free from my yard), what would you say is a great all in one gulp bait for bass and the sunfish??m Would it be those gulp minnows or thr gulp worms??? Something else???
@@KayakCatfish OK, sometimes it would he just for fun while I have one rod in the water for catfish, and sometimes for catfish bait. What size would you say would be best?
Hey Justin I’ve been watching for a little bit and I wanted to start kayak fishing for catfish I fish on the Tennessee river wheeler lake and the cats get big so if you have any recommendations on gear to use tell me no info is bad 😂
I'm still trying to figure this out. Are you just casting out and letting that minnow bait sink until you get a bite and real it back in if there's no bite and cast it again??? Do you put any weight on the line or no weight???
I have found that casting to your ideal location in front of brush/rocks/etc and then letting that jig slowly sink down before retrieving is best. You would be surprised just how often you get a hit letting it fall during this phase. Then, when I have decided it has sunk an optimal depth I give a few small jigging actions before reeling in a touch of line followed by a pause and a few more jigging actions. Rinse and repeat this reel/pause/jig method. My pauses are typically very short, maybe a second or so? Once I feel like the jig is out of the optimal strike range of my structure I am fishing, I will reel in what is left and recast. Sometimes that is a few jigs after the jig sinks or sometimes if I am casting down the shoreline I could be working that jig until it reaches my kayak again since there is so much good structure to "work". This appears to be how Justin prefers to fish his jigs as well :) to get the right wait time before reeling in I have counted how long it take my jig to sink a foot in comparison to a second, then use that to approximate the seconds to wait while the jig sinks if I know my water depth.
@@calebpartenheimer7636 I do not like to put weights (splitshots etc) on the line if I can help it myself. If possible I try to find the jighead weight that is optimal for the situation. That, and the small jig head and lure combination (1-2" gulp minnow) being so light contributes to the slow fall speed in the water, that is a large part of the reason you have to let the jig sink initially for a good bit vs. other larger lures (heavy jigs and swimbaits etc) that might sink much faster so less pause before retrieval. The slow fall rate of the light jig like this setup allows a longer window to target fish along the structure you are aiming ur cast for as well.
@@UnshapenNote Do you get better results casting a jig and letting it fall or with heavier lures then you do just putting live bait under a bobber and letting it sit or maybe reeling it in slowly??? Seems like everytime I try the no bobber/weightless jig approach, I get snagged very quickly.
@@calebpartenheimer7636 I dont use bobbers myself. This morning I had a small jig head with 1/3rd of a nightcrawler strung onto it like a plastic would be. It was a semi-light setup. Not as light as what Justin is running with his 1" gulp minnow however. While in my kayak I throw towards structure and let the jig drop around 5-6 seconds then work it in slowly, I was in around 17ft of water. Caught yellow bass this way. Keep in mind if u are along the shoreline or find urself in shallow water you may need to shorten your wait times on the sinking initially as well as the occassional pause while jigging in the retrieval.
