Austin Texas. America's Coolest City and Live Music Capital of the World

- Austin is known for its local food, great live music, and keeping it weird.
Its a great place to live and visit, thanks to low taxes and low crime rate. It's a party town and the music capital of the US. This video about Austin is more than a travel guide.
3:24 caught me so off guard. he said that shit so casually
Seriously. Surprised there aren’t more comments about this. Wonder why they mentioned it in a tourism video
Yeah wtf hahaha
Come visit when we don't have mass shootings XD
We’ve reached that point, I guess
"Too bad the night ended in a mass shooting..." then casually carries on with the video as if that's a completely normal thing to have happened.
I’ve lived in Austin for a few years. It’s a great place for jobs and young people. It’s one the prettier areas of Texas with beautiful nature. It’s very warm in the summer but the rest of the year is nice. If you are coming just to visit, don’t come in the summer unless you like sweating a lot.
How is the public transport ?
@@ahmedzakikhan7639 You can rent a bum to ride for a very reasonable price.
@@ahmedzakikhan7639 Public transport? Here? 🤣🤣🤣
@@mikelamberth9975 I thought Austin was progressive and conscious about the environment.
@@ahmedzakikhan7639 Sorry, but you were mistaken. Austin leans to the progressive side in many ways, but it's in the middle of a very, very, very conservative state with an economy built on oil and gas production. Austin has one single commuter rail line, and a bunch of half empty busses roaming around. The city council has been fighting with Uber and Lyft for years. Cars are important.
Austin has the most beautiful sunrises/sunsets, and it always smells great. Great weather most of the year so we can enjoy the great outdoors. Love my Austin.
I lived in Austin over 10 years, college and stuck around. I loved everything about it - but there’s no denying how much it changed and will never be the same. It’s just overcrowded now.
I don't mind the crowd if infrastructures can keep up. Sadly they haven't and likely won't ever.
It's ripping people off and killing the scene, a blue sanfransico
all woke ideals and empty bank accounts. its boring.
Agreed it’s changed sooo much but still the place to be!

This is the best video ever created about Austin Texas. Great job 👏
Great video of Austin. You do an incredible job on all your videos giving pertinent information to the viewers about many cities across the U.S. Thank you. Since I lived in Austin for several years I thought I would mention that the million or so bats under the South Congress bridge are all female. The males live near San Antonio. Kind of crazy. Also, Queso (cheese) is pronounced kay-so. You have the best southern Tennesse accent ever. When you speak one would never know you were from beautiful Russia. Thanks again for the magnificent videos.
Thank you for your hard work in 2021. I hope you finish the rest of the day well and see you next year with a new look. I always support you, thinking that greater blessings will come in the upcoming new year as much as the sweat you shed this year.🥰🤗👍❤
Thank you for your many outstanding videos here and on your RussianPlus channel. I learn more about America from your videos than I ever knew - and geez, I grew up here. Also learn much about the other destinations and subjects you cover. You are doing a great job - thank you!

I can remember back in the days of my youth, when Austin's population was a mere 70,000 people. That was back in the good old days when Austin had the historic Austin Aqua Festival, and Holiday House Hamburgers with the world famous Charlie the Alligator.

I love the video. Austin is a vibe! I’m hoping to see a Dallas/Fort Worth video come from you soon.

Thanks for this wonderful video! You've covered up pretty much everything about it. That will help me a lot planning for my trip :)
Just don't move here. We don't need anymore people moving here. Making this town go down the drain.
Thank you for truly capturing the Austin vibes! You really did your research! :)
Very nice honest look at a beautiful city. One of it's charms is the people...no matter where we came from. Thanks!
Thanks for the quality videos!
As a former Austinite I loved this! Great footage and very informative. I'm so glad to see you gave a mention to Paramount Theatre at 12:16; it's one of my favorite theaters and it doesn't always get the attention it deserves in Austin-related content. I also love the HOPE Outdoor Gallery at 12:12 but I think it's been closed since 2019 😭

Moved out 15 years ago. My allergies have gone away and I no longer have to really plan ahead on traveling anywhere in Austin. I live in an affordable house in Kansas that would cost me nearly $500k-$800k easily in Austin. I grew up in Austin and graduated from high school. Went away for a few years then came back and lived in/out of Austin for over 25 years. Decided to move away for good. I still miss Austin regardless.
Thats the thing tho.. Red states tend to be more poorer/welfare states/low cost of living, they don't bring in much money, they are easy to survive in, as I live in one too, I don't mind living here, its cheap, but lot of low wage jobs, no real innovation here. While when you see modernization that liberalism brings in with tech/higher wage jobs/higher cost of living/surplus of money towards the state, which makes homes more costly, property/taxes, greedy politicians, it only takes time til it becomes like any expensive liberal city. If your able to survive in those areas, that goods, need the skills; no skills, the odds of homeless much higher.
@@koilamaoh4238 Texas is a red state.
@@TourniquetAndDeliverance Temporary tho. Lately they been getting more blues.. With covid killing off a lot of their antivaxers.. they'll reach 100k death soon, thats a lot of voters. . We got a democrat politician recently due to many "red" deaths. You may be surprised with the years too come, wont happen immediately, but you'll notice soon lol. If its one thing, our damn hospitals are full of these dummies, makes me extremely angry, no one takes it seriously, they basically created the "Death" panels in which they blamed obama would bring..The death panels are their antivaxers.
When you look at death tolls, they make a huge change to politics. And looking are majorities and health conditions, you'll see a connection.
Very easy to turn colors, with liberals bringing in more higher wage jobs /tech/better living standards, and homes, people will turn blue naturally from there. Its why our red welfare states are soo poor, nothing changes here where im at, poor education, poor jobs, poor everywhere, everything has been the dam same past 30 years! ANd yet these idiots say, "you see our city is great again cause of him!)" nothing nothing changed. what BS.
@@koilamaoh4238 Some of the poorest areas I've ever seen are in the bluest of blue cities. Unfortunately, the issues go beyond red or blue. The issues point to a nation that is weak and a nation of people who need to follow the one and true almighty God.

Thank you for showing Barton Springs. Most channels don’t show it. It’s the biggest gem in Austin.
My beautiful Austin!! Once upon a time there was a "North Cross Mall"( Best spot in town if you skipped school, had a movie theatre, Ice skating ring, arcade, buffet, etc.), Highland Mall, Barton Creek Mall, Lakeline Mall, The Arboretum, Dobie Mall, San Marcos Outlets. A few of these are no longer with us, but others have been built, such as the Domain and Round Rock Outlets. Don't forget about Skate World, and Show Place Lanes! If you want to know more let me know.

As an Austin native born at the original Seton Hospital, and a LBJ by way of McCallum high school alumni, I can honestly say it has been nothing short of amazing watching the transformation of this great city. However, I do miss a lot of the Black owned businesses with which I grew up. Due to massive gentrification in certain areas, Austin has definitely taken on a new vibe in parts of the city that use to be much more laid back and some areas just flat out dead. But a few things I love about my hometown include the “Big city” experience with the small town feel; the Black Chamber of Commerce, the great support the city gives to local musicians, SXSW Film/Music Festival (amazing), and I can’t leave out our boy… Matthew McConaughey!!😊
I'm also a Austin native born in the Brackenridge Hospital and also went to McCallum High School lol. Class of 2019.
I live on the east side and it has changed quite a bit over the years. That said, I didn’t graduate from HS and you can’t forget about Owen Wilson and Wes Anderson 🤓
Small town feel? There's a million people that live here now.
The other day I went down white gentrified yuppie 11th Street near Franklin Barbecue. Laughed my ass off at a huge "BLACK LIVES MATTER" painted on the street. Nothing says Austin more than a bunch of privileged white yuppie slimeballs pretending to support the black community they expelled from their historic neighborhood to build dog yoga boutiques.
I don't know but the name Austin sounds soo cool. Probably one of the iconic names given to a capital city
This was great! Thank you!!
Have lived in and around Austin for the past 20 years. Very good doc.
Love your content bro. Born and raised in Austin - I’m so happy to see the city continue to grow and I’m excited for the future.
Seriously? You must be rich or aren’t at all paying attention to what Austin has become….
Austin is actually the 10th most populous city with 1,011,790 residents. Austin jumped San José, CA (1,009,340) in 2021. Right after the census data was released. Fort Worth, TX is expected to jump San Jose by 2025.
Great video.
Austin has not passed the 1 million mark. Many source online are not accurate. I go by census and addresses occupied. Austin is still under 1 million. Less than San Jose. Making it #11.
That would explain the awful Austin traffic.
Thank you for this!
Great video. I have the chance to see and know better the USA thanks to your awesome videos. Happy New Year

Every city has bad areas but San Antonio as a whole is beautiful, from it's landscape to it's urban historic districts with many centered around the world famous Riverwalk. I used to visit here from Houston and it was a great city and affordable. I remember going through Georgetown to get to Burnet up to 7 years ago and it was very small and rural. When I moved here in 2018 it was crazy how much it grew. Now, within the past 2 years so many people I knew had picked up and left because rents are now close to $1500 right outside of downtown and the average person can no longer afford it. Most people have to drive an hour into Austin just to work. It's just going to get worse.

Austin has been the most expensive city to live in Texas since the 90's largely in part because it was a growing city. One would think that because Austin is tech oriented or job heavy, the average house hold income today would be higher than 67k. Currently Austin ranks 19th for wages in Texas.
I love the way you provide unbiased information on these cities. As someone who’s possibly moving to Austin in a few months, it’s nice to hear you put the pros and cons out there without a tone of bias. This made my decision very clear. Thank you!

It is too late. Austin has already been overrun by corporate America. Iconic Threadgills is gone (probably replaced by a Starbucks). My brother-in-law owned a wine bar downtown that had live music most nights (a staple of downtown Austin pre 2020s), but megacorps made bids on the lot that just priced him out, so now there is a Starbucks or some shit there.
In closing, everyone coming to Austin now is just feasting on the corpse of what Austin used to be.
That’s sad
Yep. All of these Liberals who "supposedly" hate corporate America have followed it to Austin and destroyed it. They should have stayed in California.
Trendy hipster types declared Red River and South Congress the places to be, so investors tore down everything unique about it and built cookie-cutter condos there. Now it is just chain stores and condo owners complaining about the noise.

Great overview of Austin. I was born, raised and still live in South Austin. Speaking of which, if you ever see Mopac, S.Lamar, S.1st, S.Congress, and I-35 weekday mornings, the only reason that the inbound traffic is so terribly dense is because S.Austinites and our neighbors to the south in Buda and Kyle, make up the MAJORITY of the workforce in the greater Austin metro area.
