Hello sir i have some questions about this laptop Is the 8g ram running in dual channel mode ? And can we upgrade the storage by putting another ssd into the laptop or it just have on slot for that
I purchased the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 15IIL05 81YK 15.6" Notebook, Intel i7, 16GB Memory, 512GB SSD, Windows 10 (81YK000LUS). I am thinking about upgrading the Hard drive to 1TB.
@@nutcracke16 Don't think so bc with the smaller battery options it comes with an extra 2.5" SATA drive slot. You should be able to get up to 11 hours of battery life with yours I read.
that rarely ever happens, usually you fry ram by chosing a too high voltage or static electricity when touching the pins. But since that won't be the case with ram thats soldered on the chances that you will ever fry it are very minimal. The ram chips that are soldered on the board on the lenovo are also underneath a metal shield I believe.

yeah that is one of only two contra points of this laptop: soldered ram and no RJ45 so you will be restricted to wifi (or ethernet through usb). TL;DR there is a spot for the drive, but you have to buy a laptop hard drive cable to install it I just took this type of laptop apart. mine had the smaller battery and a hard drive bay. It did not have a sata cable for the bay, but the motherboard has a slot for a cable. If you want to add a hard drive, you'll have to also buy the required cable. The SSD is also upgradable and it measures 80mm from around where the connecter is and the last mounting screw. You should be able to install a 2280 form factor drive in place of the current smaller form factor m.2 drive that is shown in the video.
@@sullidav I just checked the pictures I took and it looks like there is slot on the motherboard that I missed. So I guess you could buy a cable online along with the required drive. I'll update my comment. Thanks for replying!
If you'd have held the WiFi card out for even a second of non-blurred motion, viewers could have seen the one-notch or two- configuration. That snapshot of it inserted makes it look like there's an "E" for designation.
It will depends of the battery installed: if it's the 70Wh you can't add a HDD because it doesn't has a 2.5" drive slot, only if it comes with the 45Wh or 57Wh battery.
you would need a smaller battery to fit a 2.5" drive solid or mechanical. and also you will need the case and the flex connector. you may get all this in amazon / aliexpress
