  • All there is to know about LED Light Therapy. Not all LED treatments or devices are the same. So I'm giving you a run down of what to expect and what to look for if you're interested in investing in a home device. It's taken a while of trying the different devices available and learning more about what really works. I also explain why I don't opt for Blue Light in my devices, and which wavelengths of Red light I look for. I also share a couple of devices that I personally trust and will give you the closest alternative to a professional salon treatment! I also managed to score a 20% discount code of my favourite for you!

    I love my Boost Light Salon face mask. I have been struggling with acne my whole life. When the pandemic hit, I went through a MAJOR breakout out and then maskacne made it worse. I stopped using foundation and focused on healing my skin. I purchased in July as I wanted to now focus accelerating my skin renewal and diminish dark spots. I have used it consistently (night and day 3x a week) and saw improvements in a month = improved skin texture and reduced oiliness. Now in Nov, my dark spots have been reduced significantly and my acne has healed. I now only use the mask one a day 3x a week.

    Ive seen the benefits of red light therapy, my boyfriend bought some panels off Amazon that actually have the same wavelength quality that you described, and red and near infrared light as well, they are fairly inexpensive ($60-80) and he uses them on his psoriasis. I've used them but wanted something that I could just comfortably lay with, an actual mask. • @thelightsalon392

      The blue light wavelengths on a phone are different to an acne treating LED device. 415nm blue light is the most affective wavelength that will target acne forming bacteria. Devices that deliver alternative blue wavelengths such as 460nm are brilliant blue in colour but not as affective.

    Do you have any recommendations for protective eyewear goggles that are effective at blocking out ~400nm to ~700nm light (which include all the colors I personally use particular LED mask). Ideally their shape/size would resemble tanning bed goggles so I can target skin around my eye area which you can’t really get to with the (huge) IPL treatment type goggles. Ones I’ve found (super sunnies) unfortunately only protect eyes from UVB and UVA waves, not visible light waves so they’re incompatible with light therapy. Love the video and love the channel!!!!

    I have much respect and faith in your thoughts as I appreciate your honestly and objective reviews.
    I am desperate to use red light therapy, but I am petrified that it will worsen me melasma. I have really bad melasma on my entire face; I am a Fitzpatrick skin type 4. I have tried everything as well as 8% hydroquinone mixed with azelaic acid etc (made a modest difference , I am serious) . I tried Meladerm, Cyspera, Retin A, azelaic acid 15%, Tranexamic acid, Arbutin, Niacinamide, Good molecules, Vit c etc ( and the list goes on) with modest results. I am vegetarian, does not eat processed food and does moderate exercise 3X a week and very vigilant about using sunscreen and reapplying!
    I would like to try red light therapy but I get mixed results about the effect on melasma, some says it does not affect melasma and some says it does for example Dr Vanita Rattan prohibits the use of red light on skin of color and I believe Dr Sam Ellis made a similar comment.
    I would appreciate your thoughts on the effects of red light on pigmented skin like mine…much appreciated.

    I purchased mine on Ebay for $30. It has red, blue, green, yellow, purple, cyan, and white but I only use red, green and yellow. I don't know what I'm doing or what brand it is but I think I got lucky because my skin looks better than it ever has and I had severe sunburn with blistering over the summer but all of the scaring from the sunburn is gone, it's really amazing. I want to get my younger sister one because her skin is aging faster than it should be, (I believe it's from stress) but I don't want to hurt her feelings.

      M.C. Thats misinformation. They have the exact same number of lights and irradiation (energy output). All I could tell is that Currentbody has better discounts and is much cheaper. The Light Salon appears to be a rebranded product with a markup, and a different logo. I used that same site to make my decision, but I should have verified the facts. Buyers remorse lol

    • @gothamista
      @gothamista  4 года назад +5

      T Borisenko hi love! I support the Light Salon because they originally developed this mask with omnilux. It was a labour of love but unfortunately theyre not a huge brand with the funds required to protect their product and demand exclusivity. This came out at least 8 months before the Current Body or omnilux came out with their branded mask. I personally want to support the small business whose expertise revolves solely around LED - but my viewers are smart and wise shoppers who will find deals may even want to try something different. This is just what I prefer to use. 💕

    • @TB-rx1ue
      @TB-rx1ue 4 года назад +2

      Gothamista thanks, Renee! It’s hard to see the full story and both sides of the story online. Currentbody claims to have access to the patent so I assumed that they either own the patent or the Light Salon is getting paid the royalties on the sales. At least that’s how it works in the US on patented products. The patent owner can choose to let others to use their tech for an appropriate cost. If that’s not the case, I’m sorry to hear that. As someone starting up a company, I would be very upset if someone ran with the profits! Not to mention, I’d be chasing them with a team of lawyers and slamming their reputation online :)
