Have you ever noticed that residual oily feeling left behind in your mouth after eating crescent roll pigs in a blanket? No, thank you. The flavors you'll find here are cleaner and eons better with this made-from-scratch pigs in a blanket recipe!
Not to mention, this homemade dough is one of the easiest doughs you’ll ever make!
It comes together in less than 10 minutes with just a few ingredients! If you live in a dryer environment, you may find you need to add 2-3 tablespoons more milk to the dough when mixing!
Here’s how you make it!
Ingredients
1 (12-14 ounce) package of Little Smokies or Cocktail Sausages, patted dry
1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt, plus a pinch -- separated
1/2 cup milk* (see note)
1/3 cup unsalted butter, melted
***If you live in a dryer environment, you may find you need to add 2-3 tablespoons more milk to the dough.
Instructions
1. Preheat the oven to 400° and have ready a sheet pan lined with a silicone baking mat or parchment paper.
2. Pat the sausages dry using paper towels and with the tines of a fork, poke two sets of holes in all of the cocktail sausages. Set aside until ready to use.
3. Whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt. Add milk and butter and stir until combined.
4. On a floured work surface, pat out the dough, dust it with flour, and using a rolling pin, roll it out into a rectangle, about 1/8" of an inch thick.
5. Cut lengthwise strips, about 1" wide. Then cut 2 1/2-3" sections across the strips. You should have about 20 rectangular strips. Combine any dough scraps and repeat with what's left. Place a cocktail sausage at the end of each strip and roll it to close. Place seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Repeat until all are assembled.
6. Bake for 15 minutes, serve, and enjoy!

It's 4:39 am 😂.
Thank you so much! I needed a quick snack for my hungry children. This cheered them up greatly. Amazing as always!
My job is done! So glad this helped you out and made for happy little ones!
Thank you so much for sharing 😊. God bless you 🙏🏿
While trying to make the healthiest cocktail frank that I could (without high fructose corn syrup, which should be banned in America.)I tried this recipe. I actually used bun length Hebrew national beef franks(cut in fours) and making a batch of 96 total I had to make 5 times the recipe. I also cut back a little butter and used cooking olive oil, not evoo. I sampled out four, they were fantastic. However, I did mix in 50% more sugar and they still didn’t have quite enough sweetness. So I sprinkled on a small amount more on the rolled out dough. But they were excellent soft and crispy. Thanks Anthony’s kitchen.
Thank you so much!!! And WOW! That's a lot of pigs in a blanket!
Yea this works i followed every step and the dough came out perfect definitely liking this video and if i forget i know to definitely come back to this video ❤
You took something simple and complicated it!!!
Thank you! Nice tutorial and clear instructions. Love this 💕
Exactly what I was looking for, thanks.
My absolute pleasure!
Life saver😮 Can these make a day before use❤❤
Crescent roll dough is now $5/can of 8 rolls, way more expensive than the meat! Thanks for this low-cost alternative.
Crazy right??? Glad you find this helpful!
Perfect for eating with some games on tv!
SO PERFECT! 🤗
hey Anthony, I'm making these for my Christmas party my team is having I'll lyk how it goes
Just made these and man did they not turn out at all followed the recipe exactly and I'm just disappointed I guess 😕
Hi quick question can I use this same flour recipe for a pizza??
Cool homemade stuff instead of factury dough
Only the best around here!
So amazing foods maam Anthony
Thank you, Ernest!!!
Thank you!
You're so welcome 🤗
is there a substitute for the milk?
Any ideas what I can replace the sausages with . I do not eat meat 🥩
Oh that’s a tough one! Baby carrots are the right shape, but I have no idea how they’d do in a dough like this…or what their texture would be like at the end of the bake time 😬 I’ll think on it some more and let you know if I come up with something!
@@TheAnthonyKitchen Yes I couldn’t think of anything but I just know I would love the bread dough ! Thank you
off the top of my head i'd try chopped spinach with some salt & seasoning, mix with mozzarella and form into sausage shape then roll those up. Healthy and cheesy. Must be a million variations on that theme, but use something that would be cooked within 15min at 400F
@@kouklakee Asparagus spears. Might get a bit more done than desired, so perhaps put 2-3 in each wrap. Or a thick slice of cheese...?
@@CaptApril123 Great idea....make the filling for spanakopita - which is spinach, feta, dill and some onion and garlic.
Why were the sausages poked?
Can i use yeast instead of baking powder?
This recipe hasn't been tested with any substitutions so I can't say for sure how that would work. Sorry!
Can i put the unused dough for later use?
I haven't tried that specifically before, but you can definitely assemble them the day before and bake them within 24 hours.
When I’m making the dough, is “less” better? I mean should I knead and Pat as little as possible like making pie dough?
If you need to knead it to help bring it together, no problem!!!
Hey my dough is elasticy how do i fix it?
If you just let it rest for about 10 minutes or so, it will relax 👌🏻
@@TheAnthonyKitchenbut I didn't put yeast in the dough so will it rest without the yeast
I made this and was disappointed. The dough did not expand at all in the oven and the "pigs" were tough and not fluffy as with other recipes. No idea what happened, followed the recipe to the letter. 🤔.
Was the dough perhaps overworked? If your increments were spot on, that would be the only other thing I could think of! So sorry they didnt turn out for you. That stinks!
@@TheAnthonyKitchen I think with baking powder you'd want to not knead the dough too much, unlike with yeast for bread.
If the baking powder is too old, it loses its ability to "puff."
2.9K Views but only 79 thumbs up??? come on people!!!
So nice! Thank you!
