Hi! Does anyone tried to apply this to a complex object? I'm trying to put this in to a letter and my computer crash (kernel panic like). It all happen when i try to apply the cloner to an object. Any ideas? (And buy a new computer is not available right now...)
8´48" - where the hack do all these parameters come from in the Render Settings? I use R18 Studio and I have much less parameters here. I also can´t change shadow map resolution here. I do have these parameters in the light itself, don´t know however if this makes a difference. Does anybody know if sth has changed here? This vid is früm 2013, so this should be R12 or R13 or sth. Usually the parameters get more, not less? ;-) Maybe Maxon has just simplified it? Who has more information? Pls comment. Thank you. Great tutorial btw, thx!!!
Hey ! I think that they simplified the hair parameters, I tried to go on "Multi-passes" part and I checked shadow and illumination.... then I think you have to try different render settings but its not that complicated :)
Does ANYONE know how to port this idea to Maya? I know all of the steps up until the cloner node. We don't really have anything like that to MY knowledge... Thanks for the vid though! Very interesting...
I don't see why this couldn't be done with Paint FX or Maya hair. Though it may take more time and involve some scripting and some vector displacement maps. The first thing that falls on my mind is probably distributing many follicles across the desired model and then making sure that they are clumped in two follicles, point all of them downwards or upwards, so they are laying almost flat on the mesh make their tips very close to each other and then around each follicle make sure to render as many hairs as you need for it to look like a single chunk of rope (English is not my native language so sorry if "chunk of rope" makes no sense :D). A little bit of tweaking and hat should look a lot like the end result in this video, as follicles are based on UVs too, at least as far as I remember (haven't used Maya hair in a looong time).
This tutorial just save my ass in 2024. Thanks man.
Wow, it looks super realistic
Brilliant idea to bring 3D Tutorials on this channel.
This tutorial is 🔥 relevant still in 2021!
A lot more simple than the method used in the mitsuba example, nice work. Proof of concept successful.
My lord. The hardest tutorial to follow. Put that blunt down sun you are the mumble rapper of C4D. But! I appreciate ya.
Wow, that's very cool!
