Oz Holness and Tom Stokes tackle the mighty St.Ives Lagoon. With little to no knowledge of the venue or it’s stock, they had their work cut out on the notoriously difficult, weed-choked Cambridgeshire pit. With numbers of anglers already in situ upon arrival, it was time to play carp chess and every move had to be made wisely. From the areas they fished, to the rigs and bait they chose, there was no room for error!
Great vid lads - great combination of OZ and Tom who really know their stuff but come across as so down to earth
Great to see Oz with his new pup 🥹❤️
Been out of the carp fishing game for a while but wow theres some fantastic angler's
and personalities now. Not that there wasnt before we just have social media and RUclips to thank

Great watch, you both done really well on that lake. Well done 👍
What a banger that common was. Well done. Great vid too.
Great video CYP , Stokesy' one of the most likeable anglers with great solid angling skills on youtube , and Oz who's and angler you'd bet on to save your life to catch a carp anywhere and reminds me of Charles Bronson in the Death Wish Films ( showing my age Elliott , he is proper old skool 👊) 😆
Superb film
Steve M

mega video lads well done on some lovely fish good angling by the both of you.
Glad you enjoyed it thanks for watching and your support
Great video, great anglers and beautiful fish!
Was a great few days...top result for Oz! p.s. No spombing til 11am Tom! 😆😆
That's a good rule - nothing worse people turning up at first light and thrashing the water with a spomb at bite time 👍
Great video! Nice to see Tom and Oz in a joint video, both seem genuinely nice guys as well as top anglers. They were lovely looking carp, I’d be over the moon with those catches. Ps, how Tom manages to put up with the squeaky reel I’ll never know! 😂 Would drive me up the wall. 😂 Cheers for the great film.
Glad you enjoyed it! You should check our session film series on the website!

Tom Stokes - the modern day Terry Hearn
Always makes me laugh, seeing anglers in videos "leading around" after showing drone shots 😅
Tim was pretty open about spotting that area on the drone, so why wouldn't you lead it to find out more?
Hi there, was st. Ives lagoon on the amey roadstone permit in 1982 , cost a £10 a season, Berkshire, Cambridge, Oxford, Gloucestershire, heartfordshire, Surrey, Sussex, i think 9 counties of lakes , canals, rivers
Such a good watch! 🔥
New korda rods ? 👀👀👀👀
Whilst your in the tackle shop Tom . Get some oil for those squeaky old reels. They sound like a diawa.
Oz reminds me of bit of Steve renyard
Stokes please sort your squeaky reels out buddy please lol 😂
Mega ✌️👏
cheers mate
une révision moulinet tom !!!
😄
What a fish
Kaptor rods?????
12:20 - even premier league players miss penalties occasionally x
Drone though 🙄
It only takes 1 drop of oil 😊
hahaha there's a common theme her in the comments
Great film as it was obviously gonna be. A quick comment on Oz’s insanely long landing net mesh. Whoever designed that net ( I guess) did so to keep up with current trend of keeping the fish in the net and sticking the handle in the lake bed. If that makes you happy I’m happy for you! But one day, maybe with the fish of your dreams on the end, you will try to net a fish only to find the mesh is stuck on a root or something on the bottom and you are now in shitsville! One of the worst designed items of tackle I have seen in nearly 50 years of carp angling. Avoid the desire to be trendy at all times!
Nobody designed the mesh for that purpose…..they have always been made twice as long as they need to be. I retain my fish with the landing net on a stormpole with a two rod buzz bar and ESP buttgrips and a rear bankstick with an ESP butt grip. If there isn’t sufficient depth in front of me for the mesh I just extend the storm pole up . The fish can never jump out and is safely retained for unhooking and weighing. If the day comes when only short mesh is available ( probably never) I will make a cover to go over the landing after the fish has been landed.

>Nobody designed the mesh for that purpose
Korda have literally done that. This is how they advertise their deep mesh and I'm pretty sure it's the same mesh that Oz is using.
"One of the great things about the Korda Landing Net Mesh 42in Deep is that it's deep enough to allow you to push the handle into the lakebed with the arms far enough above the water to retain and stop any carp jumping free after capture. This is especially important when you're trying to catch larger fish, as they can be more prone to jumping and trying to escape."
@@carper123 : They were being made far too long way before Korda designed ( if that’s what you call it) their net meshes. I don’t need to worry about mesh length with the system I came up with. Just adjust my storm pole up or down. Works for me.
That's not going to happen! The mesh isn't heavy 😂
Both of you need to pay a little bit of attention to your reels 🙈
Do quiet reels catch more carp?
Ye, mine do 😝
@@Apocalyptic656 anyone can catch at match lakes pal 🤣
Nobody else would have been aloud out in the boat 😂
Anyone is allowed in a boat if fish welfare is the key. Life jackets and letting me know prior to execution. Fishery management. Not been an issue since as the weed had disappeared.. 😮
Privileges!!!!
Like MP’s expense accounts. Unfortunately that’s life !!
