Life is too short to not say things you wanna say. We've never met, but I love ya man. I actually found trail running and ultra running because I stumbled upon one of your videos on RUclips a few years back. Then I fell deep down the RUclips hole watching Ultra Running videos. Don't question your calling in this life. You are an incredible story teller. That only happens because you are an incredible person. Again, we've never met but your kindness and love drips all over your videos. Your stories are authentic....thats what people connect with. We are actually connecting with you through them. It's been a unique season for sure. In my line of work (I'm a pastor) its been rough. Ive seen division like never before. People hurting people. Mental health issues have sky rocketed. But, like in Ultra running, we must continue to push through because I truly believe for something greater.
Billy - I am so glad you made it through; such a surreal set of circumstances and I am saddled for the impact it had on you. Thanks for sharing; the other side of the Good Life is that there are struggles and most people aren’t willing to be vulnerable enough to share. And those last few frames - warmed my heart! May the Good Life keep going!
Thank you for yet another poignant and touching film. PRE-COVID, I didn't have a true appreciation for community. COVID painfully taught me that I need people in my life. I will always remember the first time I went to work and I got to see the faces of the people I work with, it satisfied something visceral that I cannot explain. I always look forward to your new films and I wish you continued successful with life and with your community. 🙂. Thank you for sharing your work with us.
Your videos are so amazing and full of wisdom and inspiration. You probably don’t remember me but I met you during the AC100. I tried the race in 2018 but DNF. The last three years of my life were challenging to say the least. In 2019 we had a major financial melt down where we were in danger of losing our properties. In 2020 I was sent to a mental hospital by the police for suicide risk due to the onslaught of unpaid medical bills we had to deal with. It seemed like in 2021 things were turning around, our finances were stabilizing and delinquent bills and debt caught up. My wife who was in poor health, house bound and in a lot of pain was doing better and integrating herself in our small family and then passed away unexpectedly in May last year. I am really feeling a lot of grief right now, more so than the months after her passing. I am thankful though to have made some really cool friends at Bellevue rec center where I train and the rock climbing gym that I joined after my wife died. I don’t know why I am sharing this but the message of community and socialization is vital for everyone’s well being and health and I am glad you shared this.
Just know that when you are feeling lonely that you come into our living rooms and keep us from feeling lonely. I love your videos and I did not discover your RUclips channel until COVID so thanks for keeping us all company!
Hi Billy, thank you for sharing this. I have been struggling with depression for a long time and the last two years really exacerbated that. I have been searching for "myself" again and it hasn't been easy nor have I really found what I have been looking for. Stories like these give me hope and help me keep putting one foot in front of the other. I wish you nothing but the best in your future endeavors and I look forward to seeing your future work.
@@servethesongs Thank you for the reply. I think so to, no matter how I feel I know that life is a gift and these feels are part of my human experience.
Was thinking about you recently, wondering how you were doing and when we would see your beautiful story telling again. So , so grateful you made it through and so glad your are coming back to creating once more!
Many years ago you changed my life and ever since then I have been living such an incredible life. I am happier than I have ever been, and I love the ultra running community. Thank you for everything!
Billy, thanks for putting this out there. I think one thing that also united us all was that no matter your status, you were equally as vulnerable to Covid - it leveled the field and for a moment, in many situations brought about a humanity that I haven't seen in a while. Last year was one of the toughest years. I also had lost a lot of work due to Covid, my father was murdered and mother badly injured, I moved back to my mom's place to help her while she recovered and transitions into her new life, I also got injured, so had to stop running at what was probably the fittest I'd ever been and because of getting Covid, had heart complications that stopped me for months which has a huge impact on motivation. There is definite importance in sharing. Hearing others being caught in that rut, and pointing out the importance of community sends a beacon to those who thought they were alone.
I put this video on my "watch later" list initially. Billy I have to say, once I watched it, I regret not watching it when you released it a week ago. You said so much that I can relate with. This past year's ups and downs (mainly the downs) really made me think about my true happiness. It's an ongoing search, but your shared insight gave me a stronger hope for the possibilities. Thank you.
Billy!!! Thank you for this. Just watched it again, for the second time this week. Talk of loneliness & connection to combat it made me think back to one of your other shorts, "GRAND CANYON | The Window Seat". This is the simplest of scenes where you were meeting up with your group in the Las Vegas airport...... Truly, connecting and re-connecting with "Your People". Simply beautiful. Thank you for sharing your heart and your content with the world.
Thank you for the "announcement" without the "announcement" part, lol. Happy for you. I'm sure it's strange to have people that you don't even know express worry for you, but we have been worried. Glad to see you working through it and not afraid to share.
Billy. As a fellow trial and ultra runner and lover of life have always watched your films. Again you have delivered. Sorry its been tough for you but you are right. The Good Life. friends community family. Thanks for making this.
I needed this today. As an elementary teacher, I am part of a wonderful community. However, we all need to be reminded of the truth you spoke of in this video. Thank you for reminding me. I will share your message with others. Run long and prosper!
I missed you. I missed your content and your perspective , and how you wear your heart on your sleeve… thank you for this - thoughtful and poignant as ever. Made me tear up. In a good way 💝
Billy you hit it on the right spot...sometimes life turns in a way we have never seen coming.. painfully true to feel how many, including myself, are downward spiraling .. happy there are still friends and a pair of shoes. Take care man and keep on sending those good vibes💖☀️✨✨
Beautiful and powerful as ever Billy. A very poignant reminder that in times of uncertainty what we need is each other - hugs and high fives, compassion and clarity, unity and support. I don’t know you, but man do I appreciate you
Thank you for sharing Billy. YOU are not alone! I am always so inspired and truly respect your messages, vision, and storytelling. You are a true artist. I hope you have a blessed year.
Thank you for all you do for the running community - your videos remind me of my "why". Cheers to new beginnings and a new year. Much love to you, Billy.
As a long-time fan of your work, this moved me more than any of your others. In times of pain and loss and suffering --- this reminder of the power of love, friendship, connection and simple gratitude for nature and running rings so profound and true. Thank you, Billy!
Over the past two years, being able to run and be outdoors more has helped me. Being able to show my son the outdoors and take him hiking everywhere on my back and watching him climb stuff and seeing the smile on his face.

Glad you are back Billy! What a timely reminder to connect with the people and things you love, definitely needed that after the last 2 years. Welcome back and enjoy life again.
Billy, your impact on people is beautiful and your the reason I started running. I hope you keep creating and sharing your art. Thank you for being you.
Man, this totally is true. I am RN, mom, wife, trail runner, BJJ blue belt. Mentally, I have had the hardest time coping with everything. All the changes with mandatory vaccinations for healthcare workers, my kids having to do distance learning and trying to help them not struggle, to making sure my family is ok. This plan and simple, sucks. But I find happiness on the trails. So peaceful and beautiful. I love my husband and kids so much. I love the community in trail running and races. I'm glad races are back. I'm hoping 2022 is the light at the end of the tunnel and we have reached the other side of this 2 year pandemic. Many blessings to you Billy. I love watching your videos. Keep on keeping on!
Hi Billy. I just wanted to say that I hope you are keeping well. I also wanted to thank you for some of the most resonant and empathic storytelling in the ultra/trail community - probably all of RUclips in fact!
