  • There aren't many words that get me as worked up as this one does.
"Debossing" isn't really a thing. Here's what people usually mean when they say it.

Embossing is making a raised image onto the background surface. Debossing is making an indented image into the background surface. I deboss images into clay like polymer clay, very often because an embossed image will wear off much faster than a debossed image will. Blessings!

You have the most gorgeous deep voice. You would make a fabulous storyteller. I could listen to your voice all day long. Very very velvety and smooth.

Would you mind telling Factcheck they've mislabeled a photo of the backside of a debossed seal as 'The raised seal?'
    It's only been 13 years.

    Embossing is beautiful,
however difficult i to emboss items like leather pad folios
since its not possible to get under the surface.
We deboss thousands of college logo's on a variety of leather
products and "debossing" or laser engraving is our best options.
On Paper as you illustrated, I would agree with you the embossing is the way to go

Good sensible explanation. De boss didn’t make sense to me. Seems it’s more like stamping the paper. Embossing almost molds the paper. I love embossing.

I print with clear varnish on flexo can you do that with letter press ink instead foil

That's essentially what the knife piece is. With uncoated stocks and letterpress, we're not going to get any sheen, really, much less gloss.

@@afinepress In fact, you can emboss without paint, either with white opaque paint or with transparent white ... and all this gives about one result, if we talk about white paper)
But hot stamping is everything! Firstly, this is a clear edge of the printed elements. Secondly, you can use only cliches or white foil (even on white paper), but transparent foil looks best on a white background!

Nope. Not at all. The processes are entirely different, as are the results.
