    When me and my brothers were in our early teens, my mom recognized that if we kept living in that environment that my brother would end up seriously hurting someone n end up in jail. So she moved us out the hood and into a way way way better environment. There isn't enough words to describe how much I'm grateful to her for doing that for us. Especially her being a single mother of 3. She has always been up our buts making sure we are doing right, searching room, talking to our teachers, putting us in sports programs, showing up to all school n sport events. We might have had to shop at goodwill and get hammydowns. But I couldn't ask for a better Hero and rolemodle in our lives.

She’s not claiming to be a perfect parent but she did what she needed to do to fight for her son’s life! Her description of those other parents is dead on! So many parents are focused on theirselves and don’t know how to be a positive role model for their children. Sad.

I had several encounters with parents whose kids were misbehaving but when someone attempted to correct the behavior the parents ran to the kids defense. • @SimplyCiCi894
      @SimplyCiCi894 Год назад +13

      Parents defending their behavior is a result of laws being passed that facilitate kids misbehaving. Corporal punishment removed from school, being allowed to sit down during the pledge of allegiance, ect. I was a substitute teacher for 4 yrs and kids were allowed to do whatever they wanted. Teacher left a note instructing me not to let this on student eat in class, she tried it with me and refused to put her food away after me asking here to several times. When I took it from her, she left the classroom to go and one of the campus officers to tell me to give it back to her. Another student came to school with shorts so short you could see her butt cheeks, when I told her she had to go home and change, the teacher's aide pretended to go to the office with her and the came back to the room with her still wearing the shorts. He tells me "it's ok." I could go on and on. Everyone blames it on bad parenting, but in addition to bad parenting, it's bad societal norms as well.

    I am a black father. Enough talk, enough excuses. The single parent crisis in this nation must be addressed. Broken homes with multiple children born to parents who are mentally and financially unable to support their children need to be called out. It's destructive, and clearly untenable. There should be a zero tolerance policy regarding school violence and habitually disruptive students. If you do not have discipline you're outta there. Allow the students who want to learn and the teachers who are there to facilitate that do so in an environment where they don't have to worry about their safety,, and violent students. Invest in schools, invest in vocational programs so that the youth have realistic alternatives that lead to financial independence, enforce quality of life crimes, and lock up the criminals. No more excuses, if you're shooting up our communities and pushing drugs in'em, if you're robbing, vandalizing, and wantonly assaulting people you're going away. End of story.

      True, the assault weapons need to go, but the problem isn't the guns. It's a single parent and absent father crisis. Our system currently allows women to pop out babies with little to no accountability. I believe there needs to be legislation in place to give mandatory reproductive surgery on women who have 3 babies out of wed lock and forced vasectomies to men that keep fathering these children that don't marry these women. That way, we can prevent irresponsible people from breeding. People scream and holler for abortion rights, but what we need is stopping the breeding of these monsters let loose on our society because of irresponsible people. I’m glad this mother told the truth about what is going on in Baltimore City. This problem will never be fixed by law enforcement it is a community involvement problem. It blows my mind that this mother told the other mother about her son and nothing seemed to change. We can’t say that the mother did nothing because we don’t know that. But we do know that for her son to be so far gone at such a young age her son didn’t have a positive influence in his life from a very young age. The only solution for the problems in these communities is intervention from within. Mom and dad can monitor for guns, they can restrict freedom of movement, and the most important thing, they can redirect the focus of the child, influence and channel them into positive activities.

      Unfortunately that is most of the world, but if you mean this vile aggressive stupid mentality that's taken root in the hood community then you're right. We have problems to fix, and I wouldn't blame you for not wanting your son to go to one of those parts. I remember I went through the same thing the mother is describing, and my mom moved us the hell out of the city. There's a mentality that school is not important, especially parents who do not value education and they express this to their children. These children lose hope on the education system and look to other ways "to be tough" and "survive" in the hood. What ends up happening is another loop is completed of this senseless cycle, these children sensationalize being "tougher" than the rest and that's how these stories becoming even more shocking. A lot of places give resources, increase police presence, and have community areas, but have little to no impact on the culture that stigmatizes education and promotes violence as a valid means to solve problems (as ridiculously small as they may be). Of course, it's more complex and intricate than this, but this is the starting issue that gatekeeps these kids from reaching their full potential and hobbies in life.

I taught high school for many, many years and I can't even tell you the number of adults who would come into a school building trying to fight other kids about their own. Can't count the number of grown people who would use these kids to commit crime. It's an epidemic. When he said that there are adults who are failing to set examples, it is the truth. It may not end at home but it definitely starts there. Adults failed when we sent the message that there should not be consequences for their actions.

      Adults failed long before that. It actually started when yt ppl intentionally went into our thriving communities and dropped drugs, guns, and started bullying and locking up local leaders. It expanded when all leaders were removed leaving the areas open for chaos! These kids parents more than likely didn’t have parents either and the blk community has been screaming about the results of yt interference for decades!!!! Weird how y’all eliminate the starting factors to roll around in the obvious results of said behavior.

    You can put a curfew into effect all you want but that's not going to fix things. This starts at home with the parents. The city should not be raising your kids. And even with a curfew, gangs would still find a way around that. Like the mom said, her son was getting jumped, threatened, beaten up and robbed on his way home from school in broad daylight. Some parents either don't care that their child is a gang member or they condone it. The parents need to be held accountable at some point.

If they are lying….GO GET THEM! I have been there, done that….and got my son OUT of the garbage his “friends”were involved in. You should have seen their faces when I showed up out in the middle of nowhere!! The next thing I did…I contacted the parents of the others involved and told them if they didn’t get a handle on their kids, the next call would be to the cops. Thankfully, I had the other parents support and I have to tell you…EVERY ONE of the kids involved back then are now successful, productive citizens of society. Every last one of them STILL come to my house and tell me they hated me back then but are ever so thankful now because I got involved in not only MY son’s life, but theirs too! Please get involved in your kids life!! You brought this child into the world…it is your responsibility to steer them on the right path. So what if they “hate” you at that moment. It may spare you standing over their grave talking to a headstone…or visiting them through a glass window.

My son doesn't do anything that would lead to him getting shot but these days it doesn't seem to matter. They're shooting anyone. When I was a kid the only people getting shot were gang members and people going into the wrong areas. We miss our home but there's no way my kid is going back to Portland. He's 17 years old, a good kid, doesn't cause trouble but that doesn't matter these days. He graduates next month and I'm hopeful that he's going to the military. @@Hancockst1 we have a lot of parents in the suburbs failing their children as well. They're all prescription medication / alcohol at a lot of their children are raising themselves but in a better environment We need to start becoming a more loving country and provide help for these family. A lot of this Behavior comes out of hopelessness, fear, lack of basic needs being met. This started in the black and Latino communities when the CIA and President Reagan decided to dump crack cocaine into them to find an illegal War . We need to provide better job opportunities/ education for their parents. Most of these kids out here hustling trying to help feed their brothers and sisters. I think welfare need to start doing inspections in these homes just like the during military and make sure those food stamps are going to feed the children. Just like in the military you volunteer so you should be subjected to this find the follow-up. The homes in which they live should be made livable. I'm sure you see how they have people living in substandard housing with holes in the walls rats and roaches and you think that they should feel safe and comfortable. Let's not forget all of these experiments that have been ran on these kids and their parents in these inner cities. Let's not forget the substandard education, Medical Care, drinking water and food sources that are in these inner-city. Let's not forget about the uncaring policeman, social services judges, healthcare worker, school system that these children and their parents are exposed to. It's easy for us to say get up and move most of those people can barely make it from one month to the next keeping a roof over their heads. Instead of so many judgments we should try some compassion instead of putting them in juvenile hall institutions we should put them in military boot camp. Where they will learn some integrity, self discipline, self respect, leadership skills and so much more. We all know that these juvenile institutions and prisons do nothing but make these people worse when they get out. We need them to help build character while they're in these institutions not become more vicious. People make mistakes with human let's try correcting the mistake rather than trying to make them feel like animals and therefore act in the same matter. This country is so big on punishing people instead of helping people. A lot of us sit back and judgment but we don't know what we would do if we would have to live like the children and their parents do. Let's try to be a part of a solution and not a bigger problem. Let's not forget their biggest problem corruption and their leadership police force, judges, housing and every other area in these cities.

Women need to stop having children, if you're not going to raise them probably with rules, discipline, guidance and values. Put the cell phone down and do a person to person contact with your child, so you can observe their facial expressions.
