    Top notch, mate. This is a great idea that I really want to try for my own RPG battle mats. The soldering iron is a great tip for sculpting XPS. I like how you painted the river tiles and added the rocks and branches. Pouring that resin looks very satisfying! Small piece of advice you can take or leave: If you are right-handed, shoot from the left side so that your hand doesn't block your actions for the viewer. Love your videos, man. I'm thinking of becoming a patron.

      Hey there, I always welcome advice and thank you. I'll keep that in mind. Pouring the resin is satisfying haha... just keep on it for 30 minutes or so to eliminate the bubbles and your golden. Any questions when you make your river tiles don't hesitate to ask!

    Correction to the video. When you mix the resin do it by volume don't weight it out. Basically make sure you have equal parts in 2 separate clear cups. Measuring it on a scale is incorrect as each part of the resin doesn't weigh the same. Also, I recommend pouring your resin BEFORE adding your flocking.

    Have you tried the clear nail polish trick for water bases? It eats through foam to create an eroded looking hard basin for resin water, plus there doesn't seem to be any fumes from it and it doesn't spread outward so you can get precise borders!

    Amazing work. Do they all fit together, so that the edges match up really well? I think the grass would have looked better if you had used one of those static grass things to apply it... that would have made the grass look better, and they look pretty easy to make (if you don't already have one). Other than that great video 👍

    • @TabletopWitchCRAFT

      Yes, they all fit together. The end piece needed to be flared out a bit more tho. So I wanted to make these stackable for storage so I wasn't too concerned about using a static grass applicator although they would have looked a bit better. Thanks.

    "Vallejo Thick Mud" Such a little bottle for such a long river. Do they sell that by the gallon. OMG, the cost of that river
    I find myself buying in bulk. 50 pound bag of sand for my flocking. Scenic express sells flock by the 5 gallon bucket (consider it). I buy paint by the gallon then thin it to spray through the airbrush. I use Pepsi bottles to put paint into and find that the dishwashing soap lids (Dawn, etc) with the flip up lid fits perfectly on a 20 oz or 2 liter bottle so I can hold the airbrush in one hand while lid flipping and pouring with the other.

    Loved it! But it left me wondering... how easy it would have been to make the river whole first, and THEN cut it to tiles? I mean, everything else beside cutting them to tiles would have been easier: easier to paint, model, pour, decorate and would've made it easier to make transition between tiles.

      @@TabletopWitchCRAFT I'm just in the process of making space for all the crafts and painting things, but unfortunately the resin itself is SOO prohibitevly expensive around here, that I'm unable to craft anything that needs resin :( (for the record, about 500ml of resin (total, 250ml per bottle if 1:1) costs about ~50€... And that's the cheapest I've been able to find. A local craft store (now closed for good) sold a 250ml bottle and a 15ml bottle of hardener (it wasn't 1:1, obviously) for 65€. Yeah. No resin for me, other than the cheap UV sfuff I can get via eBay in small bottles.

    so I have just gotten into crafting tiles recently and stumbled onto your videos. I have a question regarding the melting of the foam. Would you get the same effect using acetone? I don't have access to a soldering iron and my foam supply is limited due to the area that I am in so I figured I would ask first. Thanks for the videos you put out.

    • @TabletopWitchCRAFT

    Hi there, love your video, going to try that soon! May i ask you, is it possible to use different kinds of foam on this project? XPS seems to be sold only in big packs in my country and i'm not going to isolate house nor make a river loger then my apartment. Thanks!

    • @TabletopWitchCRAFT
      @TabletopWitchCRAFT  4 года назад

      Roman Švec lol, I’m actually laughing at that :). You can make it out of other foam yes. Mod Podge is a good sealer and will protect the foam to some extent. What foam exactly are you planning on using? Note that most of the foam is covered so it’s possible to use some other media totally different than foam. The key is to have nice vertical ends so they fit nicely together.

      @@TabletopWitchCRAFT Thanks for fast answer! In fact only smaller pack that i could find was EPS 70 F from some local company, which is much cheap but i'm not sure if it will have same structure after use of hotwire cutter, i don't want it to be too smooth so it lasts that mud-like effect. How much (approx.) time did you spent on those? Do not count finishing touches like making that awesome water effect on top and pimping out with detail coloring. It looks so easy in your video but i bet i'm going to lose a finger on it.

    • @TabletopWitchCRAFT
      @TabletopWitchCRAFT  4 года назад +1

      Roman Švec I had all the foam cut and ready to paint in an hour or two. Paint about the same. Then it’s just waiting time on paint and resin to dry/cure. I can’t give you an exact answer on the EPS 70... I’ve never used it. Do a test tile and see what happens!

    • @TabletopWitchCRAFT

      This is the same resin as my sewer series minus the silicone caulk. It really depends on the look you’re going for. Slight ripples on a stream or some really pronounced water pattern like I have in the sewer. The caulk is cool but a bit more on the over exaggerated side.
