    Absolutely love my ID.7 tourer. It's a very comfortable car that eats up the miles with ease. The drive assist system is absolutely brilliant. For a big car it's very manoeuvrable around town thanks to its small turning circle. Driving it is effortless. Charge it once a week while I'm in bed. Suits all mine and my families needs.

      Do you have DCC? Just wondering as all the press cars seem to have it.

    In Denmark more than half (55%) of all new cars are fully electric :D And not least: a fully developed and constantly growing charging infrastructure, so that more electric cars are no problem. Have driven the VW ID.3 for three years now, and have only had good experiences and no significant problems. Never coming back in an ice car :D

      Good for you. However Denmark is a very strange country in terms of motoring ( taxes etc) . I suppose you bought it due to incentives. From the other side what is a difference in price between regular Golf and ID3 ?

    • @JunkerOnDrums
      @JunkerOnDrums День назад

      @@capitalm1257 Fairly reasonable tax rules in Denmark - yes, you are right! A Golf is clearly more expensive than an ID.3 - which makes perfect sense! I bought an electric car because it is modern and without pollution from exhaust and because most of the electricity I put on it is green. And the global warming as a result of huge burning of coal/oil/gas etc of course also plays a big role. They did the same in Norway in a different way - but same result.

      @JunkerOnDrums 20 часов назад

      @railman7454 Well - You must have some very bad politicians in the UK! In Denmark, there is political consensus from right to left that global warming and pollution must be fought with electricity rather than oil/gas.

    Had a Model 3 new from 2020, still have it. Got an ID.7 tourer with all the packs, had it for about two weeks. In every department that matters, it is miles ahead of the Model 3. Drove 800+ miles in fog, dark, rain over Christmas. The travel assist didn't make one mistake. In my model 3, I can put it on just dumb adaptive cruise and it will start phantom braking in the first five minutes of driving in town. The more advanced lane centering Tesla cruise will phantom brake on the motorway or try take exits it shouldn't. Completely night and day in ride comfort, fit and finish, build quality (my model 3 boot still leaks after being looked at 2/3 times by Tesla). Long distances no problem, I still use the Tesla network and V4 chargers a pleasure to use. New hubs like the Sainsburys one are making charging something I don't really need to think about. Upgraded ID7 stereo is more than good enough, really happy with it and looking forward to dumping the Tesla for something else. Tesla iPhone App is superior (for now) but realistically, I can live without that for all the other huge advantages.

    Great review. I’ve owned a Tesla Model 3 LR for a bit over 4 years now. A very positive experience overall; cheap to run at 2p per mile, low servicing costs and fun to drive. I’ve had a couple of minor faults over 4 years which were both fixed very quickly by Tesla mobile service. I’d never go back to an ICE car.

      I'd never even given EVs a second thought, until I thought a food vlogger I watched was being disingenuous when he was crying about his porsche.
      Sure enough he was, and 2 months later I'd ordered an ID4, and couldn't be happier with it. Not least, the fact I've saved about £500 in the first 6 months of driving.

    Yet another great video. So we have a Cupra Born since 2022 it’s now coming up on 3 years old. So collecting the slightly revised version on Monday 6th of January. Super happy with the car. I have no range anxiety anymore. The current car does have software issues, these are annoying and sometimes laughable, but it always starts, drives and charges no problem whatsoever. And it is super cheap to own. In 3 years a set of tyres. Nothing else.

    I’m getting my ID.7 tourer on Monday 😊. I’m coming from a Mercedes EQC I have had for 4 years. EQC lovely car inside, build quality really good, however range and software issues have tainted my experience. Also Mercedes garages are awful at understanding/resolving issues with electric cars hence the reason after 4 years it’s spent 6 months in the garage over varied times. Looking forward to seeing if I have improvements with VW

Yes it’s expensive but then all cars are now regardless of the drive train. Its such a shame that most people will probably end up buying an SUV over this 🥲

    @Nobby I am currently trying to make use of V2L to have the car act as a backup generator in times of outages. Ioniq 5 outputs enough to cover base load / critical loads like oil boiler, lights, fridge, freezer, CCTV, Alarm and WiFi. Could still work from home using it also. Connect car to a traditional generator socket and use a traditional changeover switch also to isolate from grid. Paying thousands for a home battery when we have one or no outages a year (total of 4 hours in 2024) seems overkill when I have a huge battery on my driveway. This is an alternative to batteries and an ICE generator.

    I've been a "Golf sized", VW group car owner for 25 years, so an ID7 probably isn't for me 😂.
    Went electric with a Cupra Born two years ago, just had its first service - the dealer needed it for two days for an "inspection" service and software update (first in two years), which he said was a complete pain. Haven't noticed any difference ☹️.
    Probably stay with an EV, but likely not VW next time (know someone that ditched a two year old ID4 for a Ford Explorer 😂).

    Happy New year squire, that's a grand looking yoke Nobby, I think the reason for folk not buying the EVs certainly in North is cost to buy and insure, lack of grants to buy/incentives plus as I see it especially for those folks who have older cars is I think if there was in the future a scrappage scheme then folk might consider them. At the minute until they make them on a par with the equivalent petrol/diesel model and make them easier to insure them they're still going to have problems selling them because the only people who can take them up is those who are loaded or in a job where they can get them as a company car.

    Great review and best wishes with your channel in 2025. Glad you mentioned vehicle to load as Volkswagen are missing out on this feature on their current ID models for sale . It should be standard as it wouldn’t be an expensive feature to add to there ID7 or other ID models . They already have vehicle to grid feature on my two-year-old ID5 and I wouldn’t upgrade to a new VW unless they added vehicle to load and make significant improvements in the travel assist communicating with the navigation system which to me only really works on slowing down approaching roundabouts . You are correct in mentioning that on the M50 around Dublin the travel assist does set the speed limit to 120 km per hour on occasions when it is 100 km per hour.

    8 years of EV experience in the Uk. Early days were ok but marred by the unreliable ecotricity chargers when travelling (and often offset by lots of freebie charging options!). Nowadays i have 3 phase charging at home and only do about 5% charging away from home, and when i do its generally trouble free. I wouldn't go back, personally. Easy, quiet, never go near a fuel station as car is always full at the start of the day. ID7 is on my list for next car (Pro S) as its comfy and has massive range for an EV. Dynamic chassis control is now a bigger pull than blistering performance due to the state of our roads!

She asked about my range and my Megane can manage close to the claimed 280miles in summer but only 180 in cold winter weather even with the heat pump and only setting heating to 19 degrees. For me 180 is still plenty but that's with a a reasonably sized battery. The likes of a Corsa or Citroen ec3 that she'd be in the market for I imagine maybe 100 miles in the winter. That makes a trip up to the city require a fully charged battery so she wouldnt be able to just decide spur of the moment to go up for lunch without having to sit for 20 mins at a charger in the freezing cold (and paying the ridiculous fast charger electric rates). Totally understand why she's sticking with petrol until they force her hand.

      It’s an important question imo because I think the likes of VW and especially Toyota are doing everything they can do slow down EV adoption to protect their profits on ICE and Hybrid.

    The more of us that get an EV the more friends and families will see all the benefits and understand the lies we see are just that. The savings I have made this year on petrol means that nearly paid off the charger in the first year. For those who can not charge at home signs that public charging is now coming down. Yes a few out there sticking at 79p (here in UK) but others have moved downwards and with subs, Tesla and Ionity are great value compared to petrol/diesel. HNY Nobby !!

    Good review - a couple of quick points - ‘Company Research ‘ from the Company with skin in the game should be thrown into the delete box straight away - they will only ever release findings with an agenda that suits their plans and wont ever share any largely negative findings - this the same corporate company that knowingly scammed Emission tests - and once they went all in on EV they are in a dizzy spin over how to respond to the actual customer trends - the prices 60k for estate are just too high - this , the second hand values plummet , the losses are horrendous , and the lack of sufficient High power fast chargers are still way too thin on the ground once you venture north - west -or far south to Kerry Cork area - and from experience the few locations that have high power fast charge are still too busy once there’s plenty people on the move such as bank holiday weekends etc Ireland really needs to gets it finger out and improve fast charges its just not good enough for longer journeys

    Another good review. Love your channel. So whats happening electric in Ireland......here's the story in 2024.
    VW ID4 down 48%, Tesla model Y down 42%, MG4 down 48%, Skoda Enyaq down 57%, Renault Megane down 48%.
    It's a quadruple whammy. Cars initially too expensive, charging infrastructure not good enough, technology changing to solid state batteries and all current cars will be old tech and devalued , as a result and the resale values are awful on electric cars.
    The stories going about are mad. less than 50% resale value on a 2 year old ID4. €30,000 written off in 24 months.
    MG not helped by being in bottom place as the most unreliable car ,in a recent What Car survey in UK.
    On the other side of this equation Skoda Octavia up 75% and Golf up 65%. So people voting with their pockets on what they trust and rely on.

    I do like an estate. Im glad we have a coupel if new model. I think thr 306 estate, in its dark green, is the best looker average car. But this is nice. Snd i do like the id7.
    I have a Born v3 myself. I probably charge my car once a week on average broably less. I dont really ever think about it. If im going far run il lplig it in the night before, and just point it towards the closest tesla station if i need to ehile out. Its nit somthing you actually need to think about. Its something you think you will need to think about, before you have one. Once you have hoem charging, its non issue.
    And i dont have a road outside my house. It ends at my neighbour gate. So i need to pull down to the edge ofvthe road and run my lead over the garden wall. So ive not got the most optimum set up.
    Me and the neight just swap parking spot if i want ot charge. Ill usally jsut take his space if my csr is showing under 30 percent. And hell take my space.
    I can't recall the last time i had to ask him to swap parking spots with me. If im low ill nick his place. If he is there ill do it the folowing night.
    Even if i had to charge all via tesla, my cupra born gets me inder 9p a mile. Thats sligjtly less than my old ioniq hybrid got, at 10.5p a miles, but eith the performance ofvmy old leo cupra and grc vxr, whch vost me 21p per mile to run. So for s not thr mkst efficsnt ev, its still cheap to public charge. Form home at 7p kw, its like 2p per mile.
    Cheap, fun and quick. And i hardely ever have to visit a "pump".

    Grants /Toll Bridge discount. Charging locations/issues. I can only charge on ESB chargers, for example. The big one is battery life. I have my car 18 months and I can see 10% battery degrade in performance already. ID7is simply gorgeous. I simply wouldn't buy another at the moment.

    Got one in July this year. The car averages 17 KW on a good day 20 most of the time , unfortunately on the 7th of December it got hit by a tree😢, a lot of damage and some water inside. The engineer has just finished the report so waiting on what insurance's final word on it,it is an absolutely beautiful car. Extremely happy with it. However, if it's a write-off. I'm not sure if I'll go full electric again. Might just go for a plug-in hybrid now agt absolutely no problems with the car. Maybe I'm just a little superstitious .
    I really enjoy your channel Keep it up .

    Why is a manufacturer (VW) selling brand new electric cars in 2025(!) without a heat pump as standard? And then, to add insult to injury, charge €1,200 for a component that's essential? This not a city run around, it's a €60k car! It really is taking the pi**.

    Very nice introduction of this car, thank you! 😃👍
    But, there is a little but:
    From viewing another Irish car video I must come to the conclusion that there is a tiny bit of tendency to megalomania in the Irish DNA. 😂
    Why does every Irish car driver (ICE or EV) need AT LEAST 1,000 km of range in a country where the longest possible distance in your entire Country from Cloghane to Shrove is just 595 km in 7½ h. Where do you want to go to with 1,000 km without charging, eating, using the bathroom... ? To Madrid? To Rome? To Athens with just 1 stop? 🤭
    Ireland has 5.3 million inhabitants who own 2.3 million passenger cars. Why do you have license plates with 10x10x10x26x10x10x10x10x10 = 2.6 BILLION combinations at the same time? Do you want to conquer Europe and Asia all together? 🤭
    Sorry, I couldn't resist. But some numbers don't add up completely. 🤪😂

    The new Skoda Superb diesel estate will get on average 1300km per tank. (66ltr tank)
    This new ID7 estate is still not practical for anyone that does alot of miles for work and can't charge at home overnight on a regular basis.
    Good video though.
    I know you did a video cross country with the great Bob Flavin previously, comparing ICE to battery. I don't think things have changed all that much in Ireland.
    For alot of people living outside cities, BEV or PHEV are just not at the races (in my opinion)

    • @patrickoconnor5494
      @patrickoconnor5494 2 дня назад +4

      If you're in the group of people that need to do 400km+ a day for whatever reason, EV is not for you (in my opinion) If you have a regular route where you can stop as part of your journey and charge then maybe, but generally not.
      That's a pretty small group of people though.

    • @Damo699
      @Damo699 2 дня назад

      That's a nonsense prospect for a very large proportion of the population...no false statistics here. If you can charge at home and don't do 400km daily then this works. I'm never going back.

    • @onslimited
      @onslimited 2 дня назад +1

      If you travell more than 250km per day, which is alot of people outside of cities, then having enough power to be able to use your transport at the drop of a hat even if only for emergencies, then being restricted because of time of home charging is just not on. In addition, if you use a car for work and do alot of milage, time cost money and can delay clients etc. Fast charging is also expensive and not all hotels have charging. I do aprox 60,000km per year. I know alot of people who regularly drive over 40,000km per year. How does any car with a plug make sense for that kind of use?
      I do recognise that a car that needs a plug can make sense for some people, but it's definitely not the right solution for everyone.
      Not to mention, all the other downsides of lithium battery vehicles that is rarely mentioned. Brakes sizing, re regenerative, thermal runaway 'if' the car spontaneously combusts, DEPRECIATION, Reliability (to be available when and where its needed, without having to plan) , having a vehicle dictate the way you live your life is totally ridiculous.
      To have a car that can have a reduction of range by 50% just because it's cold out is crazy.
      Bottom line, if you use a vehicle for work, BEV/PHEV is not practical! In fact will cost way more than ICE because of fast charging, time, inconvenience, insurance, depreciation, tyres, braking (safety). Etc etc etc. Buying a battery car to use in business that will have high milage is a extra unnecessary RISK!
      For some that really are into battery powered vehicles, the above is rubbish, but for anyone looking at this objectively, the above makes sense and should be considered before you spend money on a battery powered vehicle.
      Hopefully this comes somewhat to addressing your comment. 😀

    I've got one and love it! I Could have done with a video to show how the D mode works because it reacts to what's going on around you for example coming up to a round about it'll go from free wheeling to regen breaking. As i understand it it'll do this unless you turn off eco assist or put it in sport mode. VW are really poor in showing off what tech it has, how cheap would it be to get a VW expert to do a you tube video that covers all features! I can't find a comprehensive command list for the voice assistant anywhere! Here's a free one from me: "hello ID air care on"
