On the other hand thanks to not having the cash for the Prague Ham, you actually avoided getting scammed there too!! Watch the Honest Guide episode about the Prague Ham 😅
When at the Old time square, you were maybe 300 meters from the best exchange office with the best exchange rates in Prague (Exchange, Kaprova ulice). Also if you get ripped off in an exchange office and you find out within 3 hours, they must according to the law return your money to you....
Sorry you got ripped off there. So glad that day turned around for you. That potato soup looked so yum 😋 Fantastic tour guide, and another amazing video 😁
We were really bummed about it but there's no point in letting something like that ruin your whole day. The food and then the walking tour were so great! Thanks so much Cheryl! 😁🙌🏼
Your videos are inspiring and real life. This has helped my in my travels, especially Georgia. You guys are beautiful inside and out. Keep up the good work. Lost of love from South Africa. I might be your biggest fan🤪
Wow, thank you so much Belinda! We're so happy to hear that our videos helped you on your travels in Georgia! 😄 Your comments always make us smile and feel inspired to make more videos . We appreciate you 🥰
Why the hell tourists change money in those little exchange offices? It's still mystery for me, when I visit different country, I change money in my country or I just get it from ATM (not from ATM called just "ATM" but from ATM of some local bank), why changing money after arrive? It doesn't make sense to me, CZK is normal currency, you can get it even in your country, it's not anything rare. It looks like changing money after arrive is something typicaly british and american, I don't know how in South Africa, maybe they don't have Czech crowns there. BTW, when you don't have other option than use exchange office, use at least calc in your phone, you can easily prevent that they give you 100 instead of 1000 and such situations, tourists are just....stupid, you should know what currency they use in country you are visiting and what is exchange rate, you don't have to know it exactly, but at least know if it's cca 25 CZK for eur or 100 CZK, that will help you. :-)
Was scammmed twice. First at the exchange office (EVERY exchange office with 0% commission is at least BAD DEAL, or outright scam). Second in the restaurant (because you went into restaurant ON THE MAIN TOURIST ROUT in the city. If you went only few streets AWAY, you could eat for half of the price. BTW if you went for the ham, you would pay circa 5 times the usual price on ANY OTHER selling point in Prague.
It happens only to tourists who are not prepared and don't know even what currency is used in country they travel to. When you don't even know what currency we have and what is the trasfer rate, you can't be surprised that someone will cheat you, such tourists are like magnet for cheaters, they have written it on forehead "I have know idea, just give me some money."
Getting scammed is such a terrible feeling. I started budgeting like $50 a trip for a scam budget. Then If I get scammed I say "Oh that comes out of my scam budget" It's purely psychological but it helps a little. And as a youtuber you can at least say it creates interesting content and maybe others can learn from it.
It was a horrible feeling 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♂️ That's such a clever way of dealing with it! You have such a good point and we definitely looked at the bright side that day and rest of our day went really well 😄🙌🏼
Thank you Aunty Majoo! 😄🙌🏼 Once we understood more about the astronomical clock, we could definitely appreciate it more. We brushed ourselves off after it happened and we've definitely learnt our lesson 😅
If you need to do your own walking tour in Prague, Rick Steves has a free podcast you can download! It comes with a map and everything. It’s very cheesy but informative and nice because you can go at your own pace and stop and start as you go! 👟 So sorry about the rip off, it was definitely really intimidating there. We try to bring our local currency then ask the hotel to exchange!
it seems nothing had changed over 20 years. i have been there and made the same experience. this is a robber and scammer town i never want to see again. what horrible characters! mud!
Ah so sorry you guys were ripped off. Why don't you like to use ATM machines? If you have time do the free walking tour up to the castle, it's great. I remember food and beer was so cheap in Czech Republic. Another must see place is Chesky Kromlov. Can't wait for your food tour.
We had heard that the ATMs charge a big fee for withdrawing so we thought we were being smart 🤦🏼♀️🤦🏼♂️ We loved the food and beer in Prague (more to come in tomorrow's video 😉) thanks so much for the tip!
@@SarahandMarek ATM usually ends up being the better option. You just need to be careful to decline a service called DCC (dynamic currency conversion). It's almost never beneficial. Just always let ATM to charge you in local currency and let your own bank take care of the conversion. Or just choose shops that let you pay with your card directly.
There is czech national bank right behind the guy with drums. I don't find any issues with ATM withdrawals in Prague. It's definitely better to withdraw from ATM which is outside the bank or inside supermarkets for your security. I think it's best to check the conversion online before your exchange. So you know how much money to expect in advance so you could negotiate about the rate. Some of these kiosks don't have commission based on percentage but they have exchange fee which could be very high but I experience same with some money transfers like Western Union so it's completly legal I'm afraid.
Thanks so much for all the tips 😊 All I can say is that we have learnt a lot on our travels through trail and error and we certainly wouldn't make this mistake again 🤓 or so we hope 😂
Prague remains a mine field. You can get ripped in restaurants, cafes, taxis, parking places or exchange offices. The Czech economy is doing pretty well but people very often go on behaving like in a Third World country.
It's really unfortunate to hear that 😩 it's such a beautiful city and the locals are really friendly! It's so sad that things like this continue to happen 🙈
I was cheated in café in Vienna, we had 2 cappucinos, but on the bill, there was 2x eggs with ham for little higher price, this never happened to me in Czechia, when they cheat you, they mostly don't give you bill at all, my father didn't even noticed that, but I saw how much cappucino should be in menu, so I was curious why it was more.
Hi!! HONEST GUIDE is covering all the scams and recommendations in Prague =)
Thanks so much for the tip 😄
The walking tour looked great! Glad things took a more positive turn after the start of your day!
It was awesome! 😄🙌🏼 We will definitely be doing more of those in other cities we explore. Thank you! The rest of our day was really lovely 😊
On the other hand thanks to not having the cash for the Prague Ham, you actually avoided getting scammed there too!! Watch the Honest Guide episode about the Prague Ham 😅
That's so true! 😅 We heard about that scam afterwards 😂
Golly. We are so sorry you got scammed. What a silly thing… So happy for you that the the day ended well.
These things happen and we've definitely learnt our lesson 😅 Thank you! The rest of the day made up for a not so great start ☺️

You're right, these things happen and we just have to learn from them 😇 We also found the clock SO interesting once we understood it better 🤓

Should have watched HONEST GUIDE. ;D
We really should have 😭 We had so many recommendations to watch his channel after this
Feel for you... So maddening...This will make you so careful in future! So sorry it happened!
We were really bummed when we realised but we didn't let it ruin our day 😄🙌🏼 and we will definitely be more careful in the future 😅
Although an exchange place is advertised as no commission it could just be exchanging at a really bad rate.
That's exactly how they got us 😔

So sorry you guys got scammed!! It happens to all of us at some point!
Thanks for making us feel a bit better Lisa 🤗 we were quite upset when we realised but we didn't let it ruin our day and we learnt our lesson 😅

That bread with a secret soup! Yum! 😁
Secret soup! The best kind! 😁
no money change and no taxi there
We definitely won't do either of those things now that we know 😅
with all the information out there on prague and getting ripped off, you still got ripped off! how??!
I know 🙈 Still can't believe it happened because we were aware that these kind of scams were in Prague ☹

Interesting city, so why instead so many selfies?
Today we are posting another video from Prague and it will show more of the city 😄🇨🇿
0 commissin ,with a rip off exchange rate . they are different, and that"s how they miss lead you , and rip you off . please learn the difference .

Sorry you fell in one of the worst traps in Prague. Cant believe you didnt count your money. Btw Vaclav is a great guide!
That is why you go to a bank
Definitely! We'll be doing that next time 😅🙈
Won't be going there
On Google Maps those bastards (Change 0% comission) have 1.1 stars! How could you fall for that? :( I am sorry to hear that...
The crowd sing indian bhagwan song hare ram haha
It was a truly unique experience for us and we are so glad that we were standing there at the right time to see it 🥳 thank you so much for watching! 😃
Won't fall for it again👍
Definitely won't be falling for that again 😅
Eh 0% commission and not stop to think how they earn their money on a top location in the middle of town ?
We had never really had any currency exchange experience before that so us not questioning such a simple thing really aided the entire situation 😆
To be fair, there are other exchange offices in the city center with very good exchange rates. This one is just scammy.
honest guide would have helped
Wow really beautiful sharing my friend stay connected
Thanks so much! 😄
👍 👍 👍!!!
