hearing every single juror go "yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, no (for ONE cause on Heard's claim), yes, yes" and the look on her face MMM so satisfying. Never pull a jury when you've already heard their UNIANIMOUS VOTE. That was the whole thing with VA-in Virginia the jury HAS to be unanimous.

As someone who survived sexual abuse as a child, her stories angered me. They were obvious lies. Her constant, "I forget" was the key indicator. You never forget. No matter how hard you try, you never forget. This is not a negative outcome for abuse survivors. It's positive because it shows that men can be abused too. Not just women.
Hail fellow, yeah, you never forget, but you can repress. Was a heavy Alcoholic in my childhood to cope with my abuse and it has serverely affected my memory. I abhor Amber, everything about her reminded me of my parents.

I'm a domestic violence survivor and it pained me to watch her lie. When Johnny got his justice I felt a little Justice for myself too.
I got abused by ex-girlfriend 11 years ago, at that time there wouldn't have been support and I talked to no one about it and just rode it out till she got bored of abusing me so I felt the same exact thing too.

Someone being abused isn’t going to attack and provoke their aggressor. When she claimed he abused her yet we heard her admit to provoking and hitting him, I knew she was lying.

When she laid out what she was doing (setting him up over the years) and asked Johnny if he thought anyone would do such a thing was enlightening to me.
A lot of abuse is actually mutual. Not this case, but it happens.
Of course, it's funny how society usually ignores mutual abuse is even a thing, but a lot of people claim this relationship was 'mutually abusive', just to make Amber seem like less of a bad guy.

DV survivor here. She literally tried to kill me multiple times and yet I lived in fear of going to prison or worse as it always concluded with her proclaiming she would turn me in for spousal abuse. A couple of times she most definitely had bruising on her arms and wrists when I disarmed her to save my life (she liked coming at me with butcher knives). Thank god for good training. After divorce she tried to assault my new wife - impeded by a locked door - cops called. Cops ignored call. Eventually we sought a restraining order and the Judge told me I was bigger than her and should "handle it".
So glad to see a man get some justice in this kind of case.

If anything, this verdict should empower more victims to come out, men OR women. No matter how embarrassing it is for them, it's probably not going to be as bad or embarrassing as it was for JD to have to accept his auxiliary demons (drugs, substance abuse, embarrassing texts) in front of the whole world watching just so that the actual truth pertaining to the abuse could come out.
tbf Amber is an easy villain to defeat. Looney women are typically smarter.
I can say that this ordeal has empowered me to initiate the process to leave the abusive a$$ 🕳️ I've somehow put up with for far too long due to being abused, manipulated, and isolated from my family and any $ that may have enabled me to escape w/my children.
But I've finally found the courage to know I can live without them, I'm not as worthless or as incapable as they've made me believe.
Justice has prevailed and that has aspired many people, I'd say.
In a perfect world, nobody would be allowed to get away with domestic abuse physically or mentally and then resume the abuse after the victim(s) ultimately have had enough, but if this has helped even 1 soul I pray it'll have a ripple effect.

@@NorthernGreenEyes yes! You can do it. I did it too. My toddler son and I learned pretty quickly we weren't as useless and unlovable as had been hammered into our brains with both words and fists. Within 8 months we'd figured ourselves and our needs out and my confidence soared and I was happy with that. My son's confidence also took off, but for a while it actually broke my heart, because in my head I'd allowed this to happen to him, and my inaction caused a 2 and a half year old so much insecurity and loss of self esteem....a 2yo! And that's why I'm telling you this story, because after a while I was advised to look at it that I got him out of there before any permanent damage could be done and I'm so glad about that. You mentioned kids so I just want you to remember, after the adjustment those negative thoughts, should they come into your head, are not true.
You're incredibly brave, and an amazing mother. You have put up with so much in the attempt to give them a good life, and now you've seen neither you nor your kids have that good life and so you take one of the steps that takes the most courage, and you're doing it!
You've got this....I promise you do. Stay strong and know that you're not alone, you're not useless/hopeless/stupid etc, none of those things. Also, you're a hero to your kids, a beacon of strength, and I'm willing to bet your story will be the reason at *least* one other person in the world feels brave enough/ready to make that temporarily scary, but truly amazing life changer of a move that you've made! 💪

Imagine there is proof a man threw a bottle to his wife cutting her finger, punched her, taunted her, insulted her, screamed at her, belittled her, told everyone she raped him, told everyone she punched him, lied in court... then when convicted with defamation, told everyone this was a sad day for free speech and for all men... this is the level of equality... that man would be facing a loooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong time in jail, she gets fined with money she will never pay... This confirm women they can cut a finger of their husbands after punching him and nothing will happens to her. For her to loose she deserves to go to jail equal time to a man who commited the same crime. In my country at least for:
- Domestic abuse (6 months to 3 years, was mayor abuse at leasst 1 year)
- Mayor injuries with quirurgical treatment+mild permanent disfigurement+cohabitation with the victim+ use of instrument potentially dangerous to physical health (2 years to 5 years, as she has almost every single agravating circumstance lets say 4 years)
- Slander + global public propagation (6 months to 2 years, 1 year six months years for the fact that was global, the damage to criminal policy caused by this particular slander and the fact that there are not many worse slanders than rape... maybe assasination or homicide? rapists are disrecpected even by inmates in prison...)
It is a real acumulation give they cannot be punished simultaneosly. She should have to face a minimum of 6 years and 6 months in jail
Right now, more women have come forward. Maybe that will change, now?

@@BogeyBoys28 this was never a criminal trial, where innocent until proven guilty would actually apply. This was a civil lawsuit against Amber Heard for defamation of character for saying he was an abuser when in fact she herself was the abuser. Justice has been served. Amber Heard is about to face a post-trial apocalypse of her life and she definitely deserves it.
If you're really a victim of abuse, this case should give you hope. Even the ones who hardly have a voice can have that. Like she said, who is going to believe you..a man.. is a victim of domestic abuse. To everyone watching with an open mind, the way Amber was trying to pull off a character who was abused, was clearly the work of an actor who never felt what that was like. Throughout the case, she displayed an air of bravado thinking that she was succeeding in pulling the wool over everyone's eyes. To be a manipulator is one thing, to be bad at it is laughable. And that's what happened here. It was sweet justice served on a silver platter.
I worked in a DV shelter for years as a children/family specialist and music therapist. One of the most rewarding, yet emotionally challenging points in my career. I was honored to work with thousands of individuals, all with their own story, and help them on their journey.
There's something about the look in a person's eyes that is haunting. I don't know how to describe it, but it's a feeling that has kept me up at night, a look that I know too well as someone with PTSD. Mine might not be DV related, but there's something almost tangible when a trauma survivor is sharing their journey. I genuinely felt Johnny's story, and have met so many others just like him, minus the fame. I hope this trial breaks the stigma around males and DV and encourages people to help out to shelters in their community. It's a highly underfunded, understaffed industry that needs all the support it can get.
It boils my blood when people say that this trial has been hopeless for abuse victims around the world. It totally isn't... It's the most positive and hopeful thing to happen to all abuse victims. There still is hope that abuse victims will get justice, because Johnny got it. There is something wrong with you if you still think that Amber Heard is a victim of abuse. Johnny won not because he proved Amber guilty. Johnny won because Amber proved herself guilty by lying under oath in front of the world. Thank god the trial was recorded. It helped the world see the real monster.

It's only a civil case, which means that "on the balance of probabilities," Heard lied. Or, to put it in numbers, it's 51% likely that she lied. In law, it's not a fact that she lied until a criminal court says so, and because she still claims to be an abuse victim, msm will treat her as such...
It's a technical thing, not a conspiracy.
I saw one news outlet who had an expert on saying Johnny won because he was more likeable than Amber. They didn't even mention the facts presented in the case.

This is exactly why we cannot just believe one person’s side. I know that there are some horrible men out there who shouldn’t be alive for what they’ve done to women, but after working as a correctional deputy for years, I can honestly say I’ve watched men’s lives get destroyed because of false claims made against them. Society sees a small woman as a victim just because of her size, but even women who are outsized can be abusive.
The worst part of the majority of DV/SA cases is the costs of defending one’s self. This is the same for male/female. Attorney fees and court fees are factors for cases not being brought forth.

Amber literally admitted she starts physical fights, and that johnny was admirable for walking away. There was literally a recording of that. I think the sheer injustice of ruining Johnny's life over the very thing Amber admitted to caused me to obsess about the trial.

The saddest thing is that Amber claimed to want to help DV survivors, but she has set back so many women in doing this. So many women will now not be believed because there's a major touchstone now of a woman lying. She's set back justice for female victims so far. I really do hope that your 'take every case on its own merits' call to arms is heard around the world, because that's what we need. On the upside, it's so great that male victims will get a believability boost from this, something that has long needed acknowledgement. At least that came from this whole sad debacle x
Ideally it should only hurt the FALSE claims of women. I realize that in some cases, it will hurt ACTUAL female victims, but hopefully those cases will be kept to a bare minimum. This had to happen eventually... there are far too many females getting away with false accusations.
@@IVIayhem There are waaay less false accusations than people think, and I just hope this trial won't inflate that narrative again, since we seemed to finally be turning a corner from it. Hopefully you're right and it'll have the positive benefit of making people take the whole thing seriously and mean more gets looked into generally, but I must admit I get pessimistic based on the stories you hear x
@@hotpinkcrayolas How do you know there are "waaay less false accusations than people think" ?? I would never make such a bold statement as we know there are a lot of unreported cases on both sides, and I would say especially on the men's side since we're supposed to just "man up". It's common knowledge now that many false accusations are never brought to light... so many men are barred from seeing their children because their spiteful ex made false claims of abuse. My ex made false claims to her lawyer when filing for divorce. When I asked my lawyer about them, I was told that the judge is used to seeing a lot of mud slinging in divorce cases. I'm lucky to not be sitting in a jail cell. I got her to (mostly) stop physically abusing me by visiting my GP a couple times to have my injuries documented, then telling her I had done so. Men largely just keep their mouths shut because they don't want to be seen as weak or emotional, but also we just don't want to suffer the wrath of a woman scorned.
Ideally we just need to remember that "innocent until proven guilty" is an important value to uphold, that we must take any and all claims seriously but also put biases aside and allow the facts to speak for themselves.

The body language from each of them while the other was on the stand was telling to me. When JD was up there, AH’s chin was up and she was looking down her nose at him. When AH was on the stand, JD was just watching and listening. It didn’t feel like he was portraying emotions or responses that were unnatural. Everything about her posture and demeanor is aggressive in my opinion. At least, if I were in the room with them both, that’s how I’d interpret things. She seemed aggressive and he seemed exhausted but calm.
Luckily JD had the money to bring this to justice. Not everyone has that position, male or female. How many more injustices are out there just because they cannot afford to have the facts revealed?
You’re right there. It isn’t about how it’s bad for women now who won’t want to press charges now It’s always been about who has the most money. So it doesn’t matter about this case because if you’ve been abused and you’re already down in the gutter it’s not likely you’ll have the clout to fight back.
99.99% of injustice in the world is never accounted for. Only a privileged few could ever have the chance to try what JD has done. These days the amount of people getting held accountable by technology: DNA evidence, cell phone cameras, voice recordings, CCTV, dash cams, police body cams etc makes me wonder just how crazy things must have been throughout history before all that existed. The amount of injustice that will never be rectified throughout history must be impossibly enormous.

Johnny's face says it all. Not whether he's smiling or laughing, but because when he first came to court the weight on his shoulders was almost visible and every line in his face shows what he's been through. But now he's unloaded a burden that was on him for years believing his life would be ruined by a malicious liar who isn't smart enough and couldn't act nearly well enough to get away with such a huge lie.
Johnny looks 10 years younger and walks like the literal weight of the world is finally off his back!

She probably would have won if she hadn't literally admitted that the op-ed was authored by her and was about Depp. Camille was trying to get her angry to make this exact mistake since most of the case hinged on proving she wrote it and she wrote it about her ex husband with malicious intent.

@@Irthiza Yes, I agree that it's more like 99%. I've seen SEVERAL polls on RUclips asking who we believe, if we're Team Johnny or Team Amber, etc., and they were always 99% for Johnny. The only ones that had a lower percentage for Johnny were those asking which way we thought the jury would side. Some people were a bit more pessimistic, which was probably based on real life experience with the skewed American justice sustem.
I know women who doubted Amber immediately. Like, when she first accused Johnny, I believed her. But the women I knew were super doubtful. They didn't trust her.
Fun fact: Amber keeps referencing this UK trial, and after looking into it, she clearly rigged the entire trial because ALL of Johnny's testimonies from people and evidence he had got thrown out and the judge went with "Shit that Amber said" to decide the verdict.

Seriously, anybody who still believes Amber didn't see the trial. She dug her own grave by lying about serious physical and sexual abuse, while also being the perpetrator of abuse herself. Johnny Depp is not a perfect person, but he is a victim of domestic abuse at the hands of Amber Heard. I hope him and his family can now heal from the damage this woman did to all of them.

I just don't get how her article about talking about DV was found to be libel. The jury must believe there is no evidence at all for that, which goes back on previous findings. It's very restrictive of unproven assault allegations, which I suppose is what some people want.
Her fans and fan pages are so annoying. Like did they just close their ears to all of it? Her tweet about the case has every single negative comment deleted and kept only the fan comments there. Can they not see what delusion they’re involved in? I suppose not by the definition of delusion but it’s just crazy to me.
I was a victim of domestic violence as a man and got arrested when I called the cops on my ex-fiance. It is nice to see this kind of thing resolved properly.

I got super lucky when a female roommate of mine called the cops on me after she hit me during an argument. The cops were actually quite willing to listen and make a (correct) judgement call and I avoided getting arrested

It truly broke my heart. Listening to what was being done to him,it reminded me how my mom abused my dad & me her daughter because I dared to tell her to stop it. Luckily my dad got me away from her in the 80's if that gives you an idea of how bad she was. Luckily my dad's attorneys and the judge were alot like Johnny's situation 😿
I’m a man. Every serious relationship I’ve had with a women, including my own mother, I was hit and abused. I never reported it, except once to save my daughter, because men shouldn’t cry and just thinking about it makes me.
It seems domestic violence organisations are the ones that need to learn that men are victims too the most going from their reactions to this.
Agreed and people need to understand that the man is not automatically guilty until proven innocent which seems to be the knee-jerk reaction most of the time.
Domestic abuse of women is certainly tragic and far too common to be sure, but accusations of abuse are not the same as fact and the tendency to jump to such conclusions can absolutely ruin a man's reputation, even if found innocent later.
Because people in general find it difficult to change their opinions of others, especially bad ones, even when found not guilty, there's still a permanent negative impression left, and if you're a celebrity it's multiplied a thousand fold, leaving your reputation and earning ability permanently damaged.
I hope the verdict for Johnny Depp will help, but the truth is that the damage Amber Heard has done to him is FAR greater than the amount awarded by this court, and ultimately I do hope that this trial serves to publicly unmask and expose this vindictive and manipulative woman and ends up damaging her career as much or more. She deserves no better, imo.

As a victim of false allegations of domestic abuse myself, and spending weeks in a courtroom defending myself; I really do hope that this has an impact on the world of women lying to get their way. My case was close to 15 years ago. I was totally exonerated, but the charges still hang out there in the ether & cause me problems to this day.

One of the most wholesome things about being in the live chats during this was hearing women speak up for men in domestic violence situations. Two close friends of mine were both involved with abusive women and maybe this case will go some way to elevating equality over sexism for both parties.
@-carnifex- I agree, I think there is so much predation on romanticism that compels people to believe their worth is ascribed to being in a relationship. Loneliness has been a contributing factor ever since the advent of the nuclear family ideal over tribal. I myself am celibate (5 years now) and the benefits of abandoning the desire to be partnered for me far outweigh entanglement.

100% agree. I know two men whose ex's were emotionally and verbally abusive. Unsurprisingly, these women also used their kids as weapons against their father, which is child abuse in my book. It happens way more often than people realize. Thank god Johnny never had kids with her. I can only imagine the hell she would have put them through.

I'm so proud of Johnny for exposing the darkest and most embarrassing secrets of his life, in order to stand up for himself and tell the truth. He already won in the court of public opinion. Now in a fair trial, Amber's lies has been exposed to the world and the jury completely cleared Johnny's name. I'm so happy to see justice served!
I still hear people siding with Amber. Not surprisingly none of them watched the trial, they just made up their minds that she MUST be telling the truth because she's the poor battered woman. 6:29 - 8:20 is such an important message. I've seen so many people talk about this trial in a men vs. women way, but it was always Depp vs. Heard. Each case and each instance of domestic violence is unique. I do hope it makes male victims and survivors feel more at ease about coming forward though.

that's a great way to put it. virtually all other coverage had some bias or motivation other than 'the case is merely interesting' which poisoned most of it.
Emily D Baker was an awesome guide through this trial so if you ever feel like going through it thoroughly definitely give her videos a chance, it's actually pretty interesting having things explained by an actual lawyer with a sane mind and no agenda (several of the men covering it reminded me of the whole alt-right incel crowd, cringe-worthy crap a lot of the time).

I was lucky enough to be at the Jeff Beck gig in Sheffield on Sunday, where Johnny Depp made his surprise appearance (and it WAS a total surprise!). We all went mental when he walked on stage!
The two London shows on Monday and Tuesday were more high profile, but by then the fans knew he'd be there. They didn't get the surprise like we did in Sheffield.

It's not easy to make those things funny, yet objective statment
I followed the case because I'm a survivor who just couldn't bring herself to ever believe Amber. From the first, I was skeptical. She kept trying to prove her story was true over the years but every word that came out of her mouth made it worse. I fought back against my abuser in the end. I'm childhood I wasn't allowed to flee from dv, so my response became freeze. But you can't freeze when you're being hurt and controlled over and over and over, it's a matter of survival to find the fight in you. The trial reassured me. She set women back, but she did give abused men a voice.
Going to miss your reviews on this, yet I'm so glad it's finally over. As an abuse survivor myself, it's evident the relationship was toxic either way BUT what Amber did to Johnny was unacceptable.

I really hope this trial somehow also helps more people understand substance abuse and where it actually grows from (Johnny's childhood abuse for example) and that it doesn't mean you are a bad person. I hope we can start making even more positive steps in helping people recover from their substance abuse.
THIS ALL DAY! SAY IT LOUDER FOR THOSE IN THE BACK. I am 5months (today) sober from opiates that I used over a ten year period to numb my pain. When he said he used drugs as a numbing agent for his trauma, I felt that, and every other addict felt that too. Just because we suffer from substance abuse doesnt make us any less human.
The TMZ guy was spot on about Elaine's 15 minutes of fame. Although, instead of 15 minutes, Elaine is going on a full on tour right now telling everyone how unfair the trial was.

I was in an abusive relationship too and was constantly pushed around and verbally abused in an effort from her to get me to hit her. I'd always leave the house, but she'd follow in her car. She was an absolute gas lighter and manipulator. I couldn't go to her parents because she'd tell me they hate me but I can't mention it to them because they'll get angrier. Though men may use physical force, she would constantly break me mentally.

Your closing statements about each case needing to be assessed on its individual circumstances was weirdly profound in this era of a generalised homogenous meaning getting inferred over everything from any single event, Ozzy, nice one. Though rather sad that it even needs to said, tbh.
Anyone claiming this hurts real victims of domestic violence is an awful and horrible human being. Proving a woman lied about domestic violence does not harm actual victims because they are not lying. Justice was served here and anyone claiming it wasnt is evil.
This trial has unearthed a lot of memories for people, memories that people would rather forget forever. As you say, you never forget…. Yet suppress them.
I don’t think AH bargained for the REAL survivors out there to “dissect” her lies. People jumped on the Me too movement and everyone was automatically considered “truthful”. There was so many inconsistencies to her wild accusations. Let alone the way she spoke to him in the audio recordings. Any survivors listening to her, knew her story was ludicrous. I hope she gets the mental help she obviously needs..
I won’t lie I did break down in tears a few times during watching this trial. Sometimes in frustration, and sometimes in anger, yet the tears yesterday were of Joy.. Her fake crying and then smirking when she thought the camera was off her absolutely drove me mental. She enjoyed causing pain to a man she supposedly loved. The UK got it wrong, they were taken in by Heard hook line and sinker. I'm glad for Johnny's sake this jury wasn't fooled for one minute, as evidenced by their deliberations taking only 13hrs. Let's hope the wounds heal and the scars fade. What a traumatic time for him. Still it was good to see he has people who care for him and have his best interests at heart. How hard it must be when there are people out there wanting to use him for his fame and wealth and they come dressed as friends or lovers. Wolves in sheep's clothing. Neither one of them is a role model, but I am certainly happy that Justice was served in the end because a lot of us suffer from spousal abuse and don’t have any one person to stand up for us, but ourselves.
