    Beautiful and I agree with you that a subtle transition truly shows the beauty and creativity of the craftsmanship. Looks way more natural and refined than stark color changes. Great work my friend ❤

    Edit: there's a few mins of silence due to a copyright complaint.
    It took me longer than expected to get the next video out. Besides full blown restorations, I also have shorter 'Quick Fix' videos lined up. These will show all kinds of nice and interesting shoes getting treatment, amongst others: suede shoes, vintage women's shoes, classis button boots etc.

    Fantastic. I too do a transitional shine from the tip of the toe back. I saw some cheap shoes where they made the toe box out of shiny plastic and decided that the transitional look was much better and it's a little more obvious that I take care of my shoes.
    People think to wear a luxury watch will tell people you have money. Wearing properly cared for, quality shoes, opens more doors of opportunity as it shows you are a detailed person.

    I really enjoyed your video! You mentioned a solution of water and isopropyl alcohol for the crease correction. What ratio do you mix it. Second questions is where do you buy your dyes, is this a Dutch supplier?

    Love this kind of video, thank you for taking the time to make it. May I ask, how much did you pay for the original thirfted pair? Also, what things do you look for in the interior when choosing a good candidate for restoration? I'd like to get into this myself.

    • @svendoesrestoration7079
      @svendoesrestoration7079  3 года назад

      There's two kinds of restorations I do: restorations that make an interesting video and restorations that will end up with a nice pair of shoes for myself or a friend. And sometimes they satisfy both criteria.
      I bought this pair for an interesting video. They were e-thrifted (shops are closed here) for € 4,- + shipping. I look for amount of wear, construction quality, brand, and style. Thrifting online has more risks, with occasional surprises, both good and bad.

  • @atsylor5549
    @atsylor5549 3 года назад

    Is that a regular shoe or a high end designer brand shoe? Looks great either way. I’m just wondering if this is only possible because the shoes materials were of high quality.

    • @svendoesrestoration7079
      @svendoesrestoration7079  3 года назад

      Good question, this is a € 200 to € 250 pair, comparable to a brand like Magnanni. The shoe construction is mediocre, and leather quality is half decent. It's ok to work with.
      Designer brand shoes are generally very overpriced and tend to offer nothing besides the name tag, better to buy from the well-established shoe brands.
      It's like watches, a Rolex at the same price of a Gucci watch will be so much better quality.

    Great transformation as usual bro. You covered the dent in the shoe very nicely. Did you sand it down a little?

    • @svendoesrestoration7079
      @svendoesrestoration7079  3 года назад +1

      Filming repairing the dent I forgot..oops. Half of the dent was caused by the coating keeping it fixed, and the cracking of the coating over it. Free of coating, most of the crease came out in the reshaping proces. As the leather is textured, sanding was not an option, it would not look good.

      I always condition after dyeing; both cream and conditioner serve that function. Coloured cream is usually a pigmented form of conditioner. On some ocassions when the leather is very dry or hasn't had the chance to breathe properly (due to the thick coating on this pair) I might do a round or two of conditioning after cleaning, and before dyeing.

    • @jeroenvaneekeren
      @jeroenvaneekeren 3 года назад +1

      @@svendoesrestoration7079 does it affect the process of dyeing afterwards? Or is it mainly just the best moment in the whole process of restoring to condition the shoes? I'm planning to dye a pair myself, hope they turn out okay ;)

    • @svendoesrestoration7079
      @svendoesrestoration7079  3 года назад +1

      @@jeroenvaneekeren Dye penetration might be slightly less, esp if the conditioner is more of a greasy type. I think it would only be a factor when you're working with lighter colours; consistency might be harder to achieve.

    Annoying abiout the copyright complaint, probably wasn't even from the actual owners of teh copyright, a lot of that false reportign going on at the mometn! Still better safe than sorry.
    As to the shoes, a really great restoration job. When you thought the colour was too light I was thinking, actually I like the contrast! Then when you reached the second presentation I found the time stamp in teh video and went back to look, only to discover when I finished the video you had also done the comparison! opps!
    However, having seen botht he before and after shots you did adn the actual video presentations of both finishes I have to agree with you, that second (darker) version is better adn looks nicer. See what do I know!
    Also intrigued (never did art at school...or should that be never really paid attention to art in school) - Why mix in navy with black? I get that the amoutns are critical (did some WH model painting when I was younger which would never get clsoe to Golden Demon levels!) but navy (unless there was a lot more of it) would surely be drowned out buy the black?
    Another great video, Annoyingly the subscrioption bell didn't work and completly missed this one until I could sit down adn go through all subscriptions!
