NWOIHM incoming! 🤘🏼🤘🏼 Indian Heavy Metal scene was litt back in 2006-16 - Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru (Bangalore that time), Chennai, Trivandrum, Delhi, Shillong had some kind of activities going on (small basement gigs if not a scaled up setup) before Rap took over.. Rock/Metal scene went downhill - not enough eyes were on Rock/Metal and hence no market! Rap is marketable coz of simplicity ig (btw never understood the concept of Rap Live shows, anyways...) In the same time period Iron Maiden, Meshuggah, Lamb of God, Opeth, Vildhjarta, Gojira, Metallica, Megadeth, Kreator, Steven Wilson (solo crew) and many others visited India (Dark Tranquility, Poets of the Fall etc. and for sure many Death and Black Metal bands) - still got those concert tickets with me! Got to know about and saw live some of Indian bands - Demonic Resurrection, Kryptos, Bhayanak Maut, Scribe, The Down Troddence, Zygnema, Inner Sanctum, 1833 AD, Heathen Beast (never seen live though, in college I was in absolute awe listening to Ayodhya Burns, Bakras to Slaughter, Drowning of the Elephant God, Contaminating the Ganges), Bloodywood (their Bollywood song covers are chuckles and actually good, do check out their first few releases in their YT handle, here's one: ruclips.net/video/6vH53Str8h4/видео.htmlsi=xuCgh6-PAcRLAZnP (they put down for obvious reasons)), etc. Btw, no hate to Rap genre - gave DHH a try in 2021 and there are some great artists too.
