Oh how I wish my parents had done at least a little of this when they retired. We are now working through this process for our boys even though retirement is a little way off.

I would just put all the goodwill and trash stuff on the kerb at the front of my property. Everything down on the kerbs if property's in my town are free game for the kerb crawlers to take away. Kerb crawlers are basically anyone, but often junk dealers, that drive around looking for free stuff to collect. It's an economical, ecologically friendly way of getting rid of stuff because it eliminates the requirement of me driving around looking for someone to accept stuff. Landfill facility charges to dump stuff there and most charity stores are overloaded with stuff or don't want pay landfill costs too. That said charity stores still charge a fortune for the stuff they sell but get for free.
As a retiree myself, it's interesting to see how you are making decisions on what to keep and what to eliminate...also what to trash and what to donate. Please don't overdo moving things yourself, it's how people get hurt, especially when they are tired. Wishing you continued good luck with this project.

Isn't it amazing how we can look at things we do not need/want for months or years, and then suddenly have them gone or dealt with in a matter of a few hours when we just get busy and do it? When that has happened to me I have questioned the reason for hesitating to just deal with it. Beware, this is going to be a lengthy comment. First, the fact that you started clearing out so much just like that is super inspiring. I have to clear up my current "office" space in my closed up patio to create an actual office/craft space and workout area. I began adding working as part of my lifestyle in January to manage my chronic pain - childhood back injury coupled with early arthritis and other injuries. Since I began being more active, my life and mentality have shifted so much. I 100% became one of those annoying people who spreads the gospel of an active lifestyle. If you ever feel like using it, I use BODi (the same company that was Beachbody, if you've ever heard of it). Full disclosure, I'm an affiliate, but working out truly changed my life for the better, so I cannot shut up about it. I don't really like gyms and I knew zero about working out properly (thus the injuries) but I began just moving along, no weights. I am so happy that I began. Some days I have zero motivation, but I just remember where I started and I don't ever want to go back to how truly defeated I felt. If you want to start, you can do it at any age and physical condition. It's the same as de-cluttering; creating new habits that become part of your lifestyle to make you happier. I love how you changed your workbench! I wonder if you've thought about creating legs that fold up along with it so they're not in the way? I've seen several types of foldable desks online. I would definitely love a video of you working on it! I have to check out your photography channel. That also reminds me, I think I would love to hear more about you as a person. Now that this channel has taken off, I'm sure others would, too. Thank you for posting another great and inspiring video, sir!
Hello Tim, All of these videos on decluttering remind me of George Carlin talking About "Stuff"... Glad you're getting it all sorted and sent on it's way.
What you accomplished in an hour.... would have taken me a whole day! I have to fondle and remember the story behind each piece again. I fall in love all over and struggle with parting with it. Sigh! But I must persist.... Whew Lawd! This gonna take a while!
What an awesome gift to your kids to go through all of your stuff and declutter. I’ve been wanting to do this for year but just seems overwhelming. I love how you take it a bit at a time.
By the amount of thumbs up & subscribers you have , it shows you how much we all have in common! I’m 61 & have done this so many times that I physically hurt myself! I took so many things when family members passed just because of memories! I say also, I’ll sell them ! No I won’t , who am I kidding! God luvya! Ps- just a comment on you saying you live downstairs in mothers basement? Well God bless you to have your mother still with you!
Tim, am loving your channel! A tip I've learned from several of my favorite YT creators, they don't play music while they are "working" or doing what their channel is known for-they speed up the video and let the sounds be whatever they were doing at the time. Believe it or not, most viewers prefer those working sounds versus no sound from the work just music. Sparse voiceovers while showing the speeded up work is also very nice. Thanks again Tim-from Louisiana.
I’ve had several comments along those lines. I may still have a couple of videos I’ve made earlier, but moving forward I’ve listened. No music. :). Thank you!
If that flooring is current, it might be an idea to keep at least some of it in case pieces of your floor ever need to be replaced (due to water damage or whatever). Thanks for showing us it can be done.
If you haven't given the flooring away yet you will want to keep it in case (yes, "just in case" but hear me out) you need to replace boards--water damage, mold, breakage, etc. We *just* replaced boards in our house because of a clogged condenser line/leaking AC unit, and it would have been impossible to match if we had bought new.
Hey, Tim. I'm 35 with 10 years of stuff in my home. I'm in the process of decluttering, too. You are really motivating. Thanks for helping me to not have to do this when I retire. :) Keep going, keep moving. You are great.
Our local church accepted many things for their rummage sales when we were cleaning out my mother's apartment. My wife and I found many ways to reuse items through friends and community. I trashed very little.
I was thinking that if Tim would have rolled the standing red workout bag to the curb someone would take it away for him so it wouldn't need to be trashed.
A few years ago when I downsized ,I filled old suitcases with small hygiene items… shampoo, conditioner, soap, new washcloths, new brush, comb and etc and donated to a Women’s Shelter in Camden ,Arkansas. In the past, I’ve worked with “ troubled” youth. There was always someone that needed a suitcase. There are places that take the old computers. The room looks good. Thanks for the update.
Do you have a building materials salvage store near you? They might like the box of flooring & little cabinet of fasteners. We also have something called Freecycle here online where we can post things to give away. I believe that it is national, so you may have one nearby. In our journey of getting rid of things, we have ended up matching many things to specific needs in the community....very gratifying giving an extra mattress to someone whose toddler now needs a "grown-up" bed!
ReStore Habitat for Humanity will take anything like the nails screws flooring etc they can use them for building. They also sell those things in the store. Donate the box caddy to them. Great video’s my friend. Don’t forget the Salvation Army and the homeless people for clothes. Shalom and God Bless you ❤️
I found your videos when I was searching carnivore. WOW! You inspired me to clean and declutter my space and get rid of "stuff". I love the word "essential" living, not "minimalism". Thank you for the inspiration.
Congratulations on your channel continuing to grow by leaps & bounds! I have a house that is totally packed to the brim (combining 3 households) and now it’s just me and the dogs. I am so overwhelmed by everything that I end up becoming stagnant. I’m thrilled you are making progress. Does having the channel motivate you more? Instead of tossing the shutters, open box of flooring, etc., check with the local habitat for humanity restore. They definitely welcome things of that nature. Goodwill also accepts that sort of thing. The shutter can be used by crafters. Everything has value, it just depends on your perspective. Anyway, I’m enjoying getting to know you and seeing your progress. Cheers from FL😺 BTW your voice sounds just like Tom Bodett (sp?) You could have another career in voiceover!👍🏻

But he docent need it/want it anymore. It may be useful for someone else . Someone else will be able to find it at Goodwill.
Thank you for your story! Yeah, I have to do something with the bench legs. That thing in the floor has got to go!
Ada....maybe you should consider 'decluttering' some words.
I absolutely love cleaning out. Lifts a weight off your soul.
💞
Wow! You are so fast! Good luck!😊
You made this decluttering seem effortless!🙌🏻I can tell you have put a lot of thought into each item prior to filming ☺️Great job!!!!
Hello Tim,
All of these videos on decluttering remind me of George Carlin talking About "Stuff"...
Glad you're getting it all sorted and sent on it's way.
What you accomplished in an hour.... would have taken me a whole day! I have to
fondle and remember the story behind each piece again. I fall in love all over and
struggle with parting with it. Sigh! But I must persist....
Whew Lawd! This gonna take a while!
Fortunately for me in this closet there wasn’t a lot of emotional attachment. That’s coming later. :)
You can always take pictures of the things you wish to remember before letting them go.
❤😊
What an awesome gift to your kids to go through all of your stuff and declutter. I’ve been wanting to do this for year but just seems overwhelming. I love how you take it a bit at a time.
slowly is the only way that works for us as well....
❤
By the amount of thumbs up & subscribers you have , it shows you how much we all have in common!
I’m 61 & have done this so many times that I physically hurt myself!
I took so many things when family members passed just because of memories!
I say also, I’ll sell them !
No I won’t , who am I kidding!
God luvya!
Ps- just a comment on you saying you live downstairs in mothers basement?
Well God bless you to have your mother still with you!
A very well spent hour. Every decision logical and efficient.
❤❤❤
Reminds me of the garage cleaning project we’re currently working on. Slowly.
We are working not only slowly, but also for ever😂
😊😊
Tim, am loving your channel! A tip I've learned from several of my favorite YT creators, they don't play music while they are "working" or doing what their channel is known for-they speed up the video and let the sounds be whatever they were doing at the time. Believe it or not, most viewers prefer those working sounds versus no sound from the work just music. Sparse voiceovers while showing the speeded up work is also very nice. Thanks again Tim-from Louisiana.
I’ve had several comments along those lines. I may still have a couple of videos I’ve made earlier, but moving forward I’ve listened. No music. :). Thank you!
💙💙
If you haven't thrown out your old PC yet you can look up recycle old PC. They use the old ones to fix the new ones. Just an idea 💡
He is so entertaining because I feel the same way with all my junk
Keep going, keep moving. You are great.
I had to do a double take on that farm picture. It looked so much like my grandpa’s farm that I have fond memories of visiting when I was young.
Check for electronic recycling in your area.
In my area it's Best Buy.
I’m enjoying all your posting, cooking, eating plan, and cleaning out, but mostly you…thanks
Love that pottery! 😄 if only I lived closer to you…..
❤😊
Very satisfying. Like ASMR for me eyes
ReStore Habitat for Humanity will take anything like the nails screws flooring etc they can use them for building. They also sell those things in the store. Donate the box caddy to them. Great video’s my friend. Don’t forget the Salvation Army and the homeless people for clothes. Shalom and God Bless you ❤️
Good job! I retired 2 days before you after 50 years. You are inspiring me to follow your lead. You might want some of my "stuff"!
Good luck Timm
Want to hear more about photography as well!
It’s coming! Have you subscribed to my photography channel?

👍🏻
I found your videos when I was searching carnivore. WOW! You inspired me to clean and declutter my space and get rid of "stuff". I love the word "essential" living, not "minimalism". Thank you for the inspiration.
trully inspirational!
I also think he sounds just like Tom Bodett!
@@TallyDrake Glad it wasn’t just me👍🏻
I like your methodical approach. Slow and steady.
Oh boy! I am in similar situations....
Be sure to save some floor boards……you may need to match it someday! Basements flood and other unforeseen accident
Excellent video! Thanks for sharing, Tim. 🙂
Tim your last video was one of the best sermons I have ever heard. Jesus have mercy. I’ve been praying that multiple times throughout the day
❤😊
17,000!!! Wow!!!😲
Congratulations!🎊🎉
Love it! This is the reality of decluttering.
I would keep the floor pieces in case you need to have some parts replaced.
Amazing how much you uncover when you start to declutter even a small space.
Well done! Go you! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
😊
Perfect t-shirt for the job today! 😂 Man you did that pretty quickly. Thanks for the inspiration!
Good work! Keep going strong!
I wish I had your energy, I hold on to everything usch, getting tired just thinking of decluttering all my things I dont use
Hello Tim!
The only areas that REALLY need decluttering for me are my quilting, knitting, & my walk in closet. I would've gotten it finished a long time ago but hubby had 2 knee replacements & i went through chemo & surgery this May. I never imagined my life this way, lol! But as I'm recuperating I'm picturing what I can purge, lol😊
