Yep more snake oil please. I've especially appreciated when you've gone on a rant about something (e.g. including oversampling) and then later educated us and yourself by realising it wasn't as simple as it first appeared and digging deeper into the topic later by speaking to someone who knows that topic inside out.
It's snake oil because the A/C button actually does something. In every 90's car that I've owned since about 2010 that button does absolutely nothing! xD
I think this plugin sounds nice and could be useful in addition to it's amusement. I don't think I'd jump at $25, but if if shows up on a plugin deal site with an attractive discount, I'm all in.
I'm interested on that video, my theory is that there is simply very few people with the skill necessary to transform scientific audio papers into real time code AND that isn't already hired with a good salary in some other industry programing FPGAS for the financial sector for example. Even in the area I rotated the most, that is videogames, most algorithms are is still also the same code from 10-15 years ago with rare exceptions from big studios (but still running those new techniques over "ancient" in-house game engines). But yeah, the real time part of the code is the issue in both industries.
I agree. I love every aspect of your channel, but your snake oil videos were unique and also super informative. I've made a load of great plugin purchases via your recommendations.
Ever since I bought Cubase. I really don't have a need for much else than the built in plug-ins. That said, different plug-ins emulate different circuitry and can shape the sound. Also, snake oil is a bad thing, why would a company want to have their plug-in labeled snake oil? I'm confused.
At last, the Air Conditioning / window de-steaming plug-in we've all been waiting for :-). Amazing for cooling down my Caribbean studio. I guess it got you pretty hot under the collar so hopefully it was able to cool you down too. Enjoyed your video, thanks.
I just d/l the trial to test this but I think it something that can filter, I like filters, good use of HF or other filters can do a lot to contour sounds especially with compression. Now I am not sure about the price point as I can't really determine what that might be worth to people or what this does that other filters do not will need to wait to try. I was suprised the d/l was 40mb for what looked like a fairly simple plugin. It looks sort of playful though that sort of Teenage Engineering gimmick feel to it. Some people like playful VSTs there have been a lot over the years, yesterday I d/l gingerbread vst for example for next christmas. Again mixing with core vsts can get "generic" or based on real hardware so this concept feels to me like a little treat for humor or to break the rigidity of streamline formulaic stuff. That said I am a hobbiest so really not sure how much experimentation happens with people who would pay for something like this. With so much freeware I have to use something a lot to consider paying for it as its not about accessing it is always about supporting something I think should be rewarded because I have gotten that use and enjoyment out of it. I will have to wait to pass a verdict on this plugin if I use it on stuff and my experience has me go back to it, vsts are a lot like paintbrushes you can never have to many but you can have ones you will rarely use and would rather borrow or rent than own if the are costly and seldom used. That said seems like a simple fun plugin. Perhaps someone can explain what this is best used for. Filters are fun though, they are great with automations also imo use of noise for shaping is an intermediate thing, I think a lot of begininers out there won't really understand how different types of noise can refine different sounds/instruments or how filtering can create space in a mix.
Everything has NOT already been done. It seems that the Plugin I REALLY want is too hard to make (at least in a simple dedicated easy form). Give me a Plugin which can simply control the volume of each musical pitch (note) across all of the musical octaves individually (88 notes or volume controls). Have you ever listened to a recording of a live instrument (like guitar or piano) and said to yourself "...if only I could turn down that darned D-note being played in this passage of chords!". I would have it ready to go on every track of the song if it were available.
Yup ... and that is only the beginning because then you should also be able to Tune it, Flange it, D-Buzz it, D-Resonate it with EQ, 88 channels-worth for each and every instrument that could benefit from it. We won't have perfect mixes until we have this. It would be as much of a game-changer as Auto-Tune was.@@WillyJunior
They only needed to say in the manual: “If you read the manual and meet the requirements, with this plugin you will sound like the New Kids on the block.”
It seems like a lot of plugin manufacturers these days are just after a quick buck. this one looks even more rubbish than that streaky plugin. zero innovations these days appart from a few companies.
Snake oil is the reason I started viewing your content and is very useful to get the view of an actual mix engineer who can see through the smart marketing of poor plugins. I also like your other content where you give away great tips and advice on mixing, but I predominantly like the snake oil. Please don't stop doing them.
I soooo miss the Snake Oil videos. You were the only person on RUclips that told the truth about the plugin scam. Paul Third used to fill that space but his discontinued.
I was actually thinking of how much i need an A/C plugin. But more in terms of the real deal, an update for dSonics Realphones and their car emulation. I love being able to not go out to the car, but i need to hear that the song can be enjoyed even with the a/c and road noise disturbing the audio. Just flicking a button in realphones makes sense. :) love checking my mixes there. Has improved my turnover rate drastically. Car, PA/Club and hifi settings is magic for dialing in the right bottom end. Snake oil… i’m splitted in this question. If you did it more in depth i would be thrilled. But I would much rather see ”shoot outs” between different gear on different sources. Do compressor A B or C work best on instrument X, and (most importantly) why you think it does. More on point education. Like ”i think comp C works best because of how it grabs the lows quickly” or something. And follow up with plugin doctor or analyzer to show us what it is you hear.
At least this was fun to watch. Please post some more snake oil so now and then. Serious reviews are very welcome, too, as your expert opinion is important for semi pro guys (and gals) like me. Keep up the good work❤
it could've been cool despite the god-awful UI if you could just do the distortion and downsampling in series. i still have a bunch of options for both of those things but at least it would be kinda to do one or two specific sounds i want to do pretty regularly
Okay so you made an interesting comment that got me thinking. You said something along the lines of there are no new plugins. Everything has been done already. I may have gotten your exact verbiage wrong but I think I caught the idea. So my thought here is. What do you think of stuff like what oek sound is doing? They just got bloom released. It really seems like it’s doing some unique things. I mean, we can’t possibly call it now can we? There’s no way we are done with revolutionary development now. I believe we’ve still got a real long way to go before I we run out of new ideas. You know, since I know so much and all. Lololoool
MIssing a unique collection of AC sound carpets as well as car model-specific IR responses for a more "high fidelity" car sound. Not worth the 25€ imho
AI is coming on leaps and bounds.. Leaked rumours about Cubase 15 say that it's got a completely redesigned menu-function. It's streamlined down to a single button that says "Generate Track"
Call it what you want (whatever makes you sleep at night, right?), but I do value you opinion about gear, over any other channel. Please keep reviewing stuff. 👍
Well, GUI is definitely original, I like that. I’m not sure why you didn’t say anything about how it sounds in different modes. For me this video looked like you wanted to call this plugin a snake oil just from the beginning
Sounds like they're hoping people will confuse their name with either Audiothing or Goodhertz. Naughty naughty. The Release date should have been set for April 1st (April Fools). Of course 'we should be mixing by ear' will no doubt be their defence. But really, sounds like sound effects for suckers. I'm out/off [delete as applicable]
All the girlies who have had the pleasure of being next to me as I blast your video into the smart TV have had very nice things to say about your nails and your hair, sometimes your accent too lol.
Unlike literally everyone else on this thread, I kinda like the plugin - including the silly interface. Saturated filters are useful but I already have this covered and won't be handing over my money. Seriously though, you guys need to relax. It's obviously not marketed as some kind of breakthrough miracle plugin, just a bit of fun. Too pricey, though.
@@chuanp2327 Why won't anyone use it? There is a lot of publicity here, so MEME can be considered a complete success. And if this RUclips channel makes a video about it, there will be even more... And so on.
Balance? RUclips? I don't understand. Gimme that Snake Oil.
Wtf I thought this was going to be an ac sound simulator for checking mixes while the car ac is running.

Bad Gear // Snake Oil Crossover episode maybe?
@@dreikelvinYou’ve already been listening to “Sandstorm” the whole time?
They could’ve had window-up window-down filters, A/C noise, etc.

the ♻️ button does in my car.
Obviously it mixes the lemonade.😂
Actually, this was Sandstorm by the Backstreet Boys.

Agree with @matt_nyc_audioengineer! That's how I discover this channel and why I subscribed!
I’d love more snake oil. I’m really interested right now in oeksounds new plugin they just dropped, “bloom”.
I want the hardware version, with the original faceplate.
The air condition in my new car looks like an Izotope Plugin.
Sorry but this review wasn´t good, how does it sound on individual instruments? What is it strengths?
For a second I thought it might be April Fools.
It's snake oil because the A/C button actually does something. In every 90's car that I've owned since about 2010 that button does absolutely nothing! xD
This is one of the funniest plugins. I’ve been waiting for more comedy in my audio FX
I think this plugin sounds nice and could be useful in addition to it's amusement. I don't think I'd jump at $25, but if if shows up on a plugin deal site with an attractive discount, I'm all in.
It seems.. the control knob in the car circulates the audio sound throughout the passenger compartment, until the Air Conditioning button is pressed.
Hahaha... excellent!!!
😂❤
Ah that 's the problem: the airco seldom works any more in 90's cars.....
More snake oil!! 🎉
I need this thing! Should I buy the VST or the org. analog Volvo? 😂🙃🤪
The Volvo sounds more analog LOL
"Downsampling with minimal antialiasing"
That's a clever way to put it. Hard to argue against.

The hot/cold knob controls the blend door. Should be the mix knob.
The Okai2r2 from Evil Turtle Productions is a very interesting tape machine they also have a compressor thats very vintage
