    Revolting

    • @newperve
      @newperve 3 года назад +3

      It's possible because you're watching fiction. In reality one of the five told the cops of the victim, who he believed had been murdered. That, rather than racism, was the reason police believed they had attacked her. When the ONLY evidence you have is a confession, before you even have a victim, you tend to believe it. The idea that the 5 were "exonerated" is false, their convictions were overturned, which just means they didn't get due process. The DNA evidence only proves they didn't ejaculate.

    I am glad that justice prevailed for these men. And that this film shows what they and their families endured. "Wilding" was the term used by NYC cops and prosecutors, and that the news carried at the time, to depict these young men as they allegedly roamed Central Park that night, causing havoc and then a brutal rape. But they were innocent.

    • @BlueCyann
      @BlueCyann 5 лет назад +4

      I remember the wilding term from back then, how they were trying to start a moral panic with it, and I remember pushing back. But I never knew or even really considered that the boys might be factually innocent. By 1990 I had left the NY media area for college and didn't hear much about the trial itself for years and years. I was very ignorant. White woman, rural New York and Pennsylvania.

    That was hard. Korey's story especially. Fate got him in jail and fate got him out. His only crime was to be a friend and he suffered the hardest. Don't get me start with little Kevin, beaten up in police custody, Antron's dad who had his heart broken, the Hispanic guy and his horrible step family but props to his dad who had his back from day 1. Sad movie. I did not rejoice at the end, I just continued to cry... I pray they continue to live FREE and RICH!!!

    This was very difficult for me to watch because I remember as a kid about this story. I could not watch it completely brought me to tears. Because of that day and what happened to that woman I could never pass there without picturing the horror. These people who are angry projected this horror onto innocent victims. My neighbors soul is tortured because he was accused of a crime and spend his teen to young adult in jail. He got out because of DNA but still not innocent. So he cannot live in peace and has eye problems because of confinement. So there is more to this than you may realize. They have problems seeing far if they do not get to out much. The soul has taken trauma and no amount of money will change that. How many more in jail that we do not even know about.

    It is a marvellous piece of acting, in India many males are accused of such false cases, in the capital of India only in 2017 almost 70% domestic violence cases were false, these cases ruins life of person and lethargic process in the Judiciary also complicates it.

      Why do you say everyone knew it was a set up? They confessed, and multiple examinations of the interviews concluded these were not coerced confessions. They knew details that the cops didn't know, like the Walkman being stolen and oh yeah, the fact that she existed.
      Ask yourself how did Al Sharpton know so quickly that these guys were innocent? Why did he claim that her boyfriend had raped her? Why did he tolerate people shouting that she was a slut at his protests?

    It's a paradox of the worst human traits. How can this be real? People being forced to lie and treated like objects and no one was feeling bad about it in general. Every person of this immature world should take a lifetime moment to reflect upon life and never ever destroy it again not even with a misplaced thought. Above that we need more awernes built inside our brains, such as evolved communication and respect for knowledge. Be real about life and put your time into developing it for everyone to enjoy theirs and others the same.
