- Rolls Royce Jumbo Jet Engine Manufacturing Process. Boeing 747 Takeoff
Building a jumbo jet engine is a remarkable feat of precision engineering. From the moment the project starts until the engine is dispatched, it takes approximately 20 days. This massive machine generates 75% of the engine's thrust, propelling about 1.2 tonnes of air per second when at full throttle. The process involves thousands of components carefully assembled by skilled workers.
The main assembly plant for Rolls-Royce jet engines is located in Derby, UK. This vast complex covers 300 acres and has been the heart of Rolls-Royce operations for a century. The city of Derby has a deep connection with the company, with many of its residents either working for or being connected to Rolls-Royce in some way.
Good for Sir Frank Whittle the godfather of the jet engine. Rolls Royce build the best jet engines in the world.
All of his patents was given away by the government.
Absolutely. We invent them but most Americans claim they did which we invent alot of stuff which Americans try and take credit for. I had a full blown argument with a yank at work over it he said rolls Royce and sir Frank copied pratt and Whitney and General electric which infuriated me he tried to go on Wikipedia and change all the history, failed obviously. The uk should be proud.
It's great to see a bunch of extremely intelligent hard-working men doing what they love! Great stuff!
Rolls-Royce is best jet engine in the world
Better than HAL who make engines for auto rickshaws 😅
Great engine! Pity about the disjointed video where most of the rambling verbiage is not related to the images on screen, and neither video nor talking actually relates a coherent account of how an engine is built.
The fan blade had to operate at temps higher than its melting point. What was RR solution. Well it was genius. They made the blade like a balloon and then inflated it under very high heat with nitrogen gas. Then they drilled tiny holes along the edge.
This allowed a cooling system moving the heat towards the holes and as it spins they act like a very efficient heat dissipation system This meant although the blade is operating in an environment above its melting point, the blade dispelled the heat faster than it could build up. Whoever had the brainwave to try this and it works brilliantly is remarkable.

👍
I totally agree
Firstly, my comment relates to the ending of this video with the speaker, especially with his mechanical voice and cadence, talking about the Boeing 747 in Hawaii. It reminds me of the scene in the movie, 2001 Space Odyssey, where the HAL 9000 computer states that the 9000 series of computer has a perfect record and has never been known to make a mistake. That said, it's great to watch the care with which Rolls Royce designs, assembles, and tests the mechanical wonders that are its jet engines.
Such a shame no one is aware that from the 1950 s to the 1980s RR hucknall tested all these engines OUTSIDE if you wanted to listen to the radio you had to close all doors and windows, they used to run for 3 hours at a time !
I could hear Rolls testing the engines at the Ansty plant Coventry six miles away.
Remember it well
My mums from Hucknall and she said when she was a girl my grandad would be going mad for everyone to close the bloody windows because of how loud the testing was. I thought nothing of it until I read your comment 😁
Very reassuringly impressive narration of the RR technological endeavors and prowess...to acheave excellence...!!
Kudos...!!!

Human is making such complicated engine but who has created the engine every human body? Just think over❤

🤣🤣🤣 That's cute...in an embarrassing 4-year-old kind of way. Demonstrate that *ANYONE* "created the engine every human body."
Seriously, this is on par with a 4 year old insisting to its parents that Santa is real.
*TRY HARDER*
Hey guys, you could do RR a favour and say their plant is a Darby, not Derby.
I believe this is computer-generated narration 😞
Since years ago , trusting all broducts made in UK, and Europe.
No others can trust them in such this manufacturing.
Please save your mark's, perfect and strongly made and don't give it to the other.

I either detect a robot voice or an awful narrator. I'll pass on the rest after 60 seconds. Goodbye
Me too
@@flyingdude119 yea, when the robot voice pronounced Derby as derby and not the correct pronunciation as "Darby" as it should be..

This doesn't cover much about actually Manufacturing an engine. It's more of a commercial for RR.
RR Trent 1000 designed and developed for 787 became a disaster, it cost an additional 4 billion pounds to rectify all the manufacturing defects..In the end GE captured 70 percent of the market...
The turbine blades themselves are a modern marvel
Sure wish you had shown the taking off of the plane🥰
Came here to say the same thing. They spent 5 min talking it up and all we got to see was the underside.
Yes I was waiting to see the Seven Hundred and Forty Seven I Eight taking off 😅

Só em ter acesso a fábrica dessa maravilhosa ENGENHARIA, você e, claro todos de sua equipe estão de parabéns.
Bom dia Amigos. Adoro tudo que diz respeito a aviação. Tmj.
6:20 Single crystal structure are not used in fan blades. They are only found in turbine blades.

Excellent Product they make.

The engine of a jet engine is the main and most complicated part of a air airaplane ! If it fails to do it’s job that cost the lives of all the passengers ! Is at stake ! But the only part that you can’t control is the material that goes into all the parts that are used to make it function as a one unit piece of equipment ! You only thing you can control is the price of all parts that go into the engine ! Price is not controlled and can’t be used to assure its performances ! Price is important but can’t assure it 100 percent operation no mater if it costs millions of dollars or 100 $$ !

Why does the exhaust in the rear of the engine not come out twisting like a tornado if the blades are spinning and forcing the air out
I was just thinking, oh god another damn awful text to speech voice, and then they thru that glitching in, which made me smile, lol.
So much older employee. Experience indeed.
Crazy engine
Wonder how the completed engine is delivered to the Airline manufacturer?
Highly informative with pleasing pleasant voice
Vôo de cruzeiro supersônico em aeronaves de combate Gripen brasileiras.
It shows just some scenes that are not in sequence. It had batter to explain by graphic visuals. By the way it is not a Manufacturing Process, but it is a Assembling Process
Where from you get all the raw materials? You are making the engines but who has made the universe 😂
Yes its interesting, but the video seems like it was written badly, voiced badly, and edited badly by a machine. The audio is crap. I guess we dont need to hear the engines... or any kind of music soundtrack.
Kenapa roll roice tidak memproduksi pesawat terbang sendiri ya..🤔🤔🤔
Turbine driven propeller made way for the high velocity thrust of a jet turbine which once again became a turbine driven propeller, or fan.
I almost got a 6 month contract working there as an electrical supervisor in the test facility. The reason I didn't get it was heartbreaking, I was working in Aberdeen at the time and living in Scotland and the guy who was hiring didn't think I could live in Derby for 6 months. What he didn't realise was I would have given a testicle to have worked there.
Probably they were not interested in your testicle.
Is anyone really interested in your life history?
Don't tell me: you gave up the testicle and THEN he turned you down.
@@LordOfLight yeah, it was a low grade specimen....
Good video but where is the engine with the 15ft compressor blades that you had on the thumbnail?
So they can build one of these massive engines with such precision in 20 days but still waiting on a refund check from Costco over 2 months now.

Fan blades are not manufactured using single crystal casting, they are super plastically formed and diffusion bonded. I was a fan blade quality inspector at Rolls-Royce for 23 years. Turbine blades are single crystal casted but not the fan blades.

OK, this video is a knock off of the original.
Bla, bla bla no information on technology, design or assembly its just a voice talking over stock footage, topic is general and not related to video.

Click bait. No filming of the build as I was expecting. Just crappy ai chatbot and publicity clips
Not a good Ending they should have shown the 747 take off instead of talking, talking, talking about it
It's pronounced Darby.
I have designed an electric airplane ✈️🛫 engine like this
These modern jet engines are becoming more and more complex, which means that there are always problems. In contrast, the propeller machines had almost no problems.
Increíble proceso❤❤
Great video and it would have been so much better if there wasn't that AI voice over. It's an uncanny valley that just sounds awful.
Audio is too jerky. Long moments of silence. Too many detailed images without related audio.
Is it just me, or does the narrator speak about a process that was on screen about 3 minutes before...... or vice versa???🤔
What people don't realize is a surgeon does not have to be as precise as these technicians need to be.
Not true. What surgeons do is just as important. They literally cut your body open and need to be efficient and precise. You shouldn't have such a hard on for amts. I myself am in school to become one but you really need to get your head checked if you believe that a surgeons job isn't as important
