    This sounds like the perfect place to live. As for us the lack of Walmart, malls and big commercial businesses sounds like paradise. I love the fact that Mexico is not a nanny state, watch where your walking and be responsible for yourself.

    Thanks Jerry you are changing the perception of Americans have about Mexico I went to Ajijic 12 years ago and the weather is awesome, and if you drive to Guadalajara on weekends you’ll find all the chains restaurants and the shopping yo want to. Thank you again you are helping to boost the economy of real estates in Mexico.

      But at the same time it's costing a bunch by having all the old Americans and non-nationals taking medical resources that the poorest in Mexico pay for. I do not agree with that. They all want to live on 300 dollars a month.???? how does that help Mexico in any way??? Their medical care cost more than what they bring to the economy.

    We live a very simple life here in the US, but that is very hard to do in our culture. Neither my husband or I have ever felt like we fit in. We have been to several places in Mexico, and have always felt welcome and safe. We are both retired and this sounds like heaven to us. Thank You for this video.

      there's a hotel on the highway closer to Chapala town called Monte Carlo with a heated pool & jacuzzi. available to the public for a fee. I've forgotten the cost but if you use it at least 3x a week it's cheaper to pay a monthly fee.

    Most of those reasons would be reasons for me to GO, not stay away. Anyway, I left the USA 13 years ago and retired in northern Thailand which was the best decision I ever made. I certainly wouldn't go back and change it to Mexico, especially after marrying the most adorable little Thai woman ever. The thought of having to go back to states isn't much different than the thought of having to jump into a pit of cobras, for sure. Love Thailand absolutely, 13 years of bliss.

    Sounds like my kind of place! I'm younger (31 years old) but am quite a bit older at heart. Literally everything you said makes me want to visit that much more. My fiancee and I are thinking about moving there ourselves or buying property and having long consistent visits within the next 5-ish years. I love these videos so much! Hope all is well.

    Do most of the Americans living there speak Spanish? I have the impression that they do not and that this place is kind of an American area where the Americans more or less stay together and do not become part of the local Mexican community.

    • @JerryBrownTravels
      @JerryBrownTravels  7 лет назад +16

      I would say in majority of the ex-pats, foreigners do not speak Spanish but the ex-pats are very much involved in the community volunteering at orphanages, raising money for the Mexican community, for providing food, medical, Computer technology to the local Mexican community. That's one of the nice things about living here that we are part of the community and the Mexican people appreciate what we due to help them. Thank you for your comment.

      My perception from the videos is that the people are the authority but in a cooperative style. I would just make a fun day with the kids, call it "poop day" and have fun cleaning. I bet the locals would throw a few tips/surprises to encourage it. Also, maybe have poop zones filled with sand or loose dirt. Whatever you do, DON'T call in the authority. They like rules/laws/fines etc. You guys seem to like cooperation, civil interactions and community-based living.

      Ajijic loves to dance. Right now we are taking it very seriously about being around people who have not been vaccinated or not wear a mask. We are not doing any dancing even so we love to dance. You'll find a lot of people that don't have that mine said that we do and you'll find a lot of people that are at the dance restaurants and bars. I hope you enjoy your stay here. Thank you for your comment Lori and I appreciate that very much.
