Notice how Suzanne went thru just as much (if not worse) than Franklin did in his childhood, yet she didn't go sexually abusing or hurting others. Almost like sicko offenders use that as an excuse. I've been sexually assaulted & abused multiple times, never had the urge to victimize someone else.

It reminds me of the TV show Finding Carter where a girl living her happy life with her mom finds out at 15yo that she was actually stolen from a front yard, and her re-integrating into her 'real' family. Though it doesn't go anywhere as depraved as this case does obviously. But it's an interesting watch for sure, because if someone has been your mom since you can remember, finding out she's not at 15yo and being ripped out of your life to 'fix' what never seemed broken to you? I imagine reintegrating is HARD.

      @chrisstrawn4108 2 года назад

The mother has given several stories about being arrested on the hot check warrant, "buying diapers" is a greatest hit. She got 30 days for the hot check because she had an arrest history for prostitution and drugs. It has been established the mother tried to sell two of her girls. This gave Franklin the idea he could monetize the children, which he did, selling off the youngest (the boy whose identity was determined in 2020) after the mother's arrest. There's quite a bit of circumstantial evidence the birth mother sold Suzanne to Franklin.

    • @Amber-yq9ee

@Alissa Rios yes, but they gave him TOO many chances! He NEVER should've been released so early from prison & for DAMN sure never released on bond after only being out of prison for pedophilia when he was arrested & charged trying to kidnap someone else! So, regardless the op wasn't just talking about strictly leaving the kids w\them when the Mom went to jail. Just seems like the authorities were tougher on a Mom for bouncing checks trying to get supplies for babies, & the predator got EVERY break! It's frustrating, sickening, maddening, & atrocious!

@@louis5094 refer to my above comment. This isn't a dumb comment. He got EVERY break as an adult. (Not as a kid, where he had a very very bad deal) so, yes, at the time Mom was arrested they didn't KNOW who he was, but the injustice STILL hits hard. Bc they punished her rather severely, & he got let out early & released on bond after offending only a month after being released. & They let him out on bond when he had a history of escaping & running. So, maybe YOU weren't paying attention. I find it's best not to go around insulting ppl but if that's who you are, good for you.

At that time, police would literally scout out and just ask around for clues, which would be almost useless. Plus, if you remember, the mother was already broke, which is how she ended up going to jail, which I believe Franklin somehow set her up for in order to kidnap the girl. Plus, she did go out initially when she got out and all her kids were missing. All I'm saying is that I too am a mother, and there were lots of realities that could have gotten in the way. It would have been nice if they could have reunited, even if the mother didn't care as we assume at least Suzanne and Michael would have been happy. As for telling her kids the brother is dead, well, again, sometimes as a parent it can be very frustrating and difficult to explain to kids what's happened. Yes, it's so crazy! Bc now a step parent has no rights! They can't even get a child seem by the Dr w\o permission! I just can't believe the police wouldn't even look back then! I think that's why it took so long for the fbi to find out who she really was bc there was never an Amber Alert (or the equivalent at that time bc Amber Alerts weren't created yet.) But if there was a search & notice in the papers about that little girl being missing besides just a comment in a police report they never went anywhere, they'd have made the connection. I truly hope this thing couldn't happen so easily these days. I'm not naive, I know terrible things like this still happen. But hopefully, it's not as easy to change identity & get documents verifying birth, social, etc now. You pretty much need dna to do anything now it seems like (an exaggeration yes. But who knows how long b4 we actually are required to keep dna on file for everyone! )

The fact that Franklin was able to murder Suzanne in the hospital is so infuriating. Obviously everything in this case is, but this just drives me crazy. Even if there wasn’t any solid evidence to back Suzanne’s friend’s claims that her “husband” was going to murder her, the authorities should have had security guarding her in the hospital just in case! Suzanne was hit by a car and left for dead which is already suspicious, then you add on the fact that her loved ones are desperately pleading for help protecting her from her potentially violent and murderous “husband”! That’s not enough to at least make sure that the friend’s claims weren’t true? Her death was so unbelievably avoidable. The fact that Franklin has not suffered any consequences for ending an innocent woman’s life is so disturbing. Suzanne was going to recover, then the hospital staff were suspicious of her “husband”, then her friends reached out for help to try and protect her, then no one did anything and Franklin visited and she ends up dead. I feel so awful for everyone who was close to this case. The whole thing really is an unspeakable tragedy. I can only hope that every day Franklin is alive is filled with the most pain and unbearable suffering imaginable, and that it continues after he dies.

I’m so sorry to hear this but why don’t you set up a fb page or something where other people that have gone through this and survived can connect. Once you’ve got so many people you can arrange meetings but if I was you for safety reasons make sure it’s in a public area so renting
a room in a hotel etc you could even have a donate button where people can donate and the money used to help other people who need help after going through such a horrific situation. But if you can’t find one why not start one yourself to connect with other survivors and who knows you might end up being able to advise therapists and other people about kidnapping and helping other people. I don’t mean to over - step but if you can’t find any other places there’s no reason why you can’t set one up yourself and be there to help others as well as yourself. You could be the change that needs to happen. Who knows you might make it where anyone that mentions about being help captive is taken seriously and save more people. I’m only stating some ideas obviously you might find having a support group a huge help for people. You don’t need anything to set up a group you just need to be willing to set up an online group so people can talk and share their experiences 💜

I think about this every time I watch true crime videos. The only reason these ones get caught is they mess up. They get too cocky, they make mistakes, they are unorganized, they leave something behind, they taunt the cops or victim's families, etc. Yes, sometimes they catch organized killers, but it's usually due to their ego getting the better of them or just pure luck. But what of the organized ones who can compartmentalize? The ones who keep their ego out of their killing? They choose victims at random, change up their killing methods, never kill where they live and likely travel to kill, hide the bodies so well they aren't found or if they are, they are difficult to ID? They have to exist. They are likely good at delayed gratification, don't kill willy nilly, and know enough about forensics to leave nothing behind and not leave a trackable trail. They are the ones I'm afraid of. Cuz they are cold hearted predators that will likely never be caught. No pattern, no connecting the dots, no getting caught. It's a scary thought.

How was this guy able to get so many different identities so easily? Are these people just meeting in prison and then getting together when they get out early on “good behavior”?! It’s crazy.

This was BY FAR the BEST video I have EVER watched on TrueCrime. I love Bailey Sarien. But you are quickly becoming my new favourite. You have done the victims justice, you have put a lot of detail (into all your videos. Not just this one), you have given a brilliant overview, been empathetic, given resources for us to read up on it ourselves. You have done an OUTSTANDING job (unlike the police during this horrific series of tragic indincidents) and have given me something to do for the past 1hr 30mins. I know of a drug dealer that literally only sold weed and he was like 19 with no prior record when he got sentenced to 10 years. 10 years for having too much weed on him. It says a lot about Jennifer's character that she stayed friends with Suzanne after that traumatic night. I'm certain she knew something very sinister was going on and felt terrible for Suzanne and probably knew how important their friendship was for her sanity. Too young to really understand how to help her beyond that, but I'm sure that their friendship was something Suzanne was finally able to cherish.
I am certain, as well, that Franklin would make money (being on the run with a false identity is difficult, even back then, and it's hard to get a job that pays well) by selling Suzanne to friends and that clubbing incident reminds me a lot of a situation I was put in and it made me ill, like actually. My suspicion is close to Danielle's, who I think was pretty spot on, those were his "friends", but he may have been paid by the club to provide young girls for their patrons, or paid directly by the "friends" Sick shit like that really happens, every day, people like that exist in really disturbing numbers.

You're absolutely right, but still don't forget that the majority of these monsters probably would be normal people if they didn't face such horrible childhoods. It's not an excuse, or a justification, but it's worth pointing out these sickos are broken people. That's why they do what they do. Some people are just born that way, but I think the majority of these monsters were created. Our minds are pretty frail, and pointing this out doesn't mean we think they're innocent or anything. It's just a simple fact that can't be ignored. I'd wager the mass majority of the most heinous monsters that have ever existed were created by abuse in their early years.
If our society cared more about child well-being I don't think we'd have nearly as many sickos like this absolute monster of a man. Pointing out how they got to be as sick as they are isn't trying to excuse or write off their behavior. It's just worth pointing out that that majority of these people had extremely violent abusive childhoods, and that's likely a cause of their sick demented minds.
They're still evil. They still should never be allowed out of prison, but it's worth pointing out, and more should be done to prevent it.

I am a person who was severely abused by my mother and abandoned by the time I was three years old. I am now a successful PI. Having a horrible childhood is no excuse for crime. I’ll repeat having a horrible childhood is no excuse for crime.

Both of my parents, my stepdad, & my grandparents went there as well.
ETA that I talked to my dad, and he told me that he, his cousin, and my uncle knew Suzanne as Sharon. My dad graduated in 1988 from Forest Park High School, and my uncle graduated from there in 1984. He said that truly no one knew she was going through anything.
What an absolute tragedy. Suzanne deserved more. That man is a monster. 💔

it really hurt hearing about her dream school rescinding the scholarship. this hasn't stopped. in 2014 I had received a similar offer, and discovered I was pregnant. the university rescinded their offer stating they did not have student parent housing. I like to think of it not as a lost dream, but as an opportunity to be something better then I hoped- a mommy💕

I also just watched the Hulu story of Steven, the boy who was kidnapped and raised by his abductor. It’s shocking how these children are just enrolled in school and groomed to just act like they’re living a normal life. So sad how these beautiful children are robbed of a normal life and achieving their dreams
