A mother's and a father's love are different yet hold the same gravitas and impact on the child's life They are different but are both just as important as the other I wish people would understand that. I have only felt real love from my father my mother's love was more of a love for her own benefit. Yet even I know that both are equally strong and equally important.
Ivar and Bjorn had nice final moments with Ragnar. Bjorn was told by his father that he was proud of him and Ivar spent quality time with Ragnar in which he was told just how great he would become.
Despite Ragnar failed to be there for his sons he is glad that bjorn grew into a brave man learning from his fathers mistakes but still have his father's ambition

What every man wants to hear from their father. "I'm proud of you." Doesn't matter the relationship, the character, the achievements, and accolades a man will accomplish. Hearing those 4 words tops it all.
I love how devoid of EGO Ragnar is. He doesn't mind becoming less famous and admired than his son. He doesn't mind going through humiliation and torture. His goals consume him entirely. And that is admirable.
From my own experiences of hearing that, it does something in your soul, it gives you more confidence and definitely builds more of a bond, even when it’s hard to show love to one another
