Sadly there seems to be a lot of hatred in the comments. Katherine is classically trained. As for her singing we will all have our opinions, if you don't like it, don't listen. She has a fantastic range and when you hear her sing in Welsh, she brings so much feeling to any Welsh song she sings, just as she is here with her rendition of Gravity. For those how are criticising her, if you can do better, then please post your own recording. Again, we are all entitled to our own opinions.
i didn't know this song till i heard this woman sing it...heard it...ABSOLUTELY loved the tune...researched on it on wiki,to my surprise i found that Chris Martin wrote this song...i listened to the original Embrace version,AMAZING too.i would definitely say that Katherine Jenkins has a different style of singing, she did an EXCELLENT job on this song.very heart touching!
My granny was listening to this in hospital the last time I saw her. The sun was shining in the window and it was so calm - I will treasure this beautiful song forever x
Who says she cannot sing? Why is she being paid the highest contract in English history, I would say she a big talent and could sing any opera song imaginable.
You speak to me with your contribution from the soul. I am hobby singer, 79 years and still active in the studio. I sing only beautiful melodies of different music genres, which lie to me vocally and make me happy.
Beautiful song incredibly beautiful woman. Her face is perfect. She sends chills all over my body from just looking at her. I don't believe a more beautiful woman ever lived upon this Earth.
Knocked my socks off!! Katherine, Love the vocal and the track..... It has David Foster written all over it. I could be wrong but I don't think so... Good Stuff !! Letterman / Gary Pike
But she's not "of Welsh descent" as you say; that would imply that she has it far back rather than actually being from Wales, like she is, born and bred.
I remember seeing Katherine on the first time of two occasions ive seen her perform and some woman about in her 70s said how old was I and I said at the time 26 and she said its great to see people your age hear. I said I am so diverse in music taste that I was there. I have to say my favourite song is her version of time to say goodbye.
Lyrics : Honey, it's been a long time coming And I can't stop now Such a long time running And I can't stop now Can you hear my heart beating? Can you hear that sound? 'Cause I can't help thinking And I don't look down And then I looked up at the sun And I could see Oh, the way that gravity turns for you and me And then I looked up at the sky and saw the sun And the way that gravity pulls on everyone, on everyone Baby, It's been a long time waiting Such a long, long time And I can't stop smiling No I can't stop now And do you hear my heart beating? Ah, can you hear that sound? 'Cause I can't help crying And I won't look down And then I looked up at the sun and I could see Oh the way that gravity turns on you and me And then I looked up at the sun and saw the sky And the way that gravity pulls on you and I, on you and I Can you hear my heart beating? Can you hear that sound? 'Cause I can't help crying And I won't look down And then I looked up at the sun And I could see Oh, the way that gravity turns for you and me And then I looked up at the sky and saw the sun And the way that gravity pulls on everyone, on everyone
Katherine never says she is "an opera singer". She is a classically trained singer. She is a crossover singer. She sings what she wants to sing. People who don't like her singing should not listen to it. Please quit trying to educate us to the narrow, dogmatic world you wish to live in. Apples don't taste better than oranges. Some will 'like' one more than another person may like it. Taste is like beauty - it is in the eye of the beholder.
She has good songs & songs which i don't like , but still , i like her voice & music :)) Thisone is a great song , also Break It To My Heart = awesome :))
To razzamatas: Well said, I am an opera fan who has 'heard them all' in the last 50 yrs. Maria Callas is my Ultimate, but I appreciate the crossover singer who can do classical and pop, introducing people to a whole new world of music. The opera snobs make me furious in there high handed comments against singers like Katherine and others. How many of the opera snobs have ever attended the Royal Academy of Music?
***** Have you heard her say these things or is she just being quoted? IMO I don't think she should sing in complete operas, she is better as a recitalist, or as a soloist. Especially now, she has carved a nice niche as a crossover artist and should continue in that vein.
Charles Henry She has NEVER sung in an opera. She sings opera arias(O Mio Babbino Caro, a dreadful Nessun Dorma etc)but she's not an opera singer she's a pop singer.
Commerce categorizes. Art and beauty cannot be put in boxes. Like you say - in the eye of the beholder. And this one fills my eyes, my ears and my heart.
@MOZ1175 I have all her albums and seen her live twice and she is a phenomenal singer and if you knew anything about her you would know that she has said herself that she is not an opera singer as her voice hasn't matured yet so go ahead and pay attention to the media and not the facts. Who said anything about eating mcdonalds everyday? Can you actually read? It's worldwide for a reason and that is because it's popular and people like the food.
She is British and I am American and I love her voice and she far from being hard on the eyes. So haters go to your Justines Beaver site. STOP writing shit. There is nothing wrong with European women.
For big talent is difficult to write a songs, coz usually voice is more beautiful than words. With Katharine is this kind of problem. I always want to hear better song for her. I love her voice, is like an angel completely
Do you like Toni Gibson? (Kiwi) Do you like Mirusia Louwerse? (Aussie) Do you like Jackie Evancho? (American) Although like you I don't normally care for opera, one of the most emotional performances I've ever seen was Montserrat Caballe singing 'Vissi D'Arte'. Also the song that Vangelis probably wrote for her, 'Like A Dream'.
@YumeNK You didn't offend me at all or upset me. Your comment was just stupid. I actually did see what he said hence why I replied to it. Did that not cross your mind? ha!
@JasonKT Don't criticize that which you don't understand. There's more pleasure and greater sense of joy in being able to understand through which lens each individual sees the world rather than getting caught up and force to live in the only one you know. Educate yourself about yourself. Just a friendly suggestion ;-)
It's impossible to find its mp3 anywhere in the web to download. Could you post a link for us to download? Have been searching painfully for a high quality audio...
I fully agree with razzmatazz, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. KJ is, next to my with, THE most perfect person in every way. However I wish she would put a little more weight back on like she used to be.
wtf? she has more fans than anyone you apparently like. and she looks so good. KJ and Hayley Westenra are two of the most gorgeous women in the world with wonderful voices and any normal person would prefer to listen to them than some fat hippo croaking or squealing.
obviously YOU dont get the joke (your probably not british) He was making light of the fact that katherine jenkins has a lot of haters from OPERA fans who post on youtube . . He was simply mocking them rather than her !!!!
@MOZ1175 Press mute then it's very simple. Fair play to ya for working there but I didn't ask you the content or say it was good or bad food. All I said was that it was a worldwide brand that was extremely popular which means it must have something good about it.
@JasonKT Unsurprisingly, you cannot see what lies on the other side of a mountain from the bottom of a valley. You have to climb up and stand on its top to see wast plains so different to where you live. And the more you see, the more you understand. I can only suggest you climb up, for any attempt to describe or explain what can be seen from the top will rarely meet with understanding. You have to see it for yourself. Perhaps then you'll understand. Be open-minded and good luck.
I much prefer her vibrato on these light pop tunes. When Kath sings Classical opera arias, her vibrato turns very close and tight like peaks of waves very close together. Even on 'Love Never Dies', Lloyd Webber's great new song, her tight vibrato is heard. I think she is 'forcing' too much which tightens and quickens the vibrato.
What's with all the snarky comments on this song? I assume it's because y'all are so exalted and musically gifted that your shit don't stink. You can't lift you smarmy selves up by tearing someone else down ...
@JasonKT There's no need to get upset Jason :-). First of all, I apologize for teasing you in my previous comment and a little bit ignorantly choosing to use parable of what I meant. Secondly, to address your concern. Your reply to bunionfeet1 about making a stupid comment on his part tells me you don't see past what he said. Perhaps if you could step back a little bit and see the joke bunionfeet1's reply implies, you could also have a good laugh about it as I did. Have a nice day Jason ;-)
@MOZ1175 If McDonald's wasn't good then why is it a worldwide food chain that millions love? If Katherine Jenkins was so bad why does she sell out arenas all over the world, sell millions of albums, have some of the greatest singers in the world want to perform with her and is a stunning success at such at early age?Well I'd hate to be a student of yours with your attitude and an invitation to my bunk?Clearly you are gay so no matter what person you are still only thinking about one thing. T
@YumeNK What exactly don't I understand? Oh and how can you tell me to educate myself about myself when you know nothing about me? You sound quite stupid actually. Your comment made no sense to me whatsoever.
Well what has my profile got to do with singing? Just listen to others who sing this song, what has my spelling got to do with my comment, Why am I a hypocrite for commenting ? I had a look at your profile as well, and you sing as good as you look .have a nice day.
I see there are those who feel enlightened and suppose they are rightfully the judge of all. This is opera and these are wannabes. Thank you for lifting up us by showing us your ignorance and intolerance to real musicians and singers. Where's your video? Do you just sing in the shower? You must have so much talent to be so critical. You and your kind are dismissed to the corner of shame.
does it really matter in the slightest? i think not. if someone sings a song and people like it, that is the important thing - not technicalities. the real measure of success is in album sales - and hayley and katherine appear to be doing quite well. if someone sings something you call "opera" and get no sales, it is a very little comfort for them. most people in the world do not like traditional opera singers, they are usually fat ugly boring and make a sound like my cat does when hurt.

One thing about Katherine...everything she sings (that I've heard) is simply beautiful!

Completely stunning. Not my style of music at all but listening to Katherine sing it just draws me in. Wow.
Few people are born with such beauty and talent...she is wonderful...
LOVE the vocals. I always love listening to a great Katherine Jenkins song.

A beautiful song. Katherine has a beautiful voice. Have a good day to everyone who reads this comment 💖
Who says she cannot sing? Why is she being paid the highest contract in English history, I would say she a big talent and could sing any opera song imaginable.

I can't count how many times I have listened to this song, it really relaxes me
Tantalizing voice, stunning beauty, will never change watching and listening to her music and looking at her lovely beautiful face whole personality.
Un ange est venu sur terre avec une voix magnifique.
Beautiful song incredibly beautiful woman. Her face is perfect. She sends chills all over my body from just looking at her. I don't believe a more beautiful woman ever lived upon this Earth.
Ive seen Katherine Jenkins live twice and she has a amazing voice i love the way she can take a song like Coldplay etc and do a good cover of it.
Beautiful! thanks for putting together this series of slides. The pictures are amazing!
In the person all should be beautiful - both the face, and a dress and soul.
She has also a beautiful clear voice.
Knocked my socks off!! Katherine, Love the vocal and the track..... It has David Foster written all over it. I could be wrong but I don't think so... Good Stuff !! Letterman / Gary Pike
A very Beautiful person and very Beautiful voice. haters go any percolate some where else.
My heart gravitates to her voice. She the real gem of England of Welsh descent.
Shes Welsh not English !!!!
Barbara Keane. I know that is why I said of Welsh Descent. Not English descent.
But she's not "of Welsh descent" as you say; that would imply that she has it far back rather than actually being from Wales, like she is, born and bred.
Dyw hi ddim dod o Loegr, ond mae hi’n dod o Gymru. Mae hi’n arfer byw yng Nghastell Nedd.
Beautiful song,Beautifuly sung by a Beautiful woman
Such an positive song you can pretty much sing it in every single language around the world.
Katherine Jenkins is the greatest mezzo-soprano in the world.
I love this song Katherine is my one favourite idol :D
Es muy hermosa interpretación como todo lo canta ella la escucho desde hace casi 9 años . que tengas buena tarde desde México .

My preferred version of Gravity with the beautiful Katherine and Coldplay backing.
Great job as always, Kate!

sublime beautiful singer and song
I am immersed in pleasure while listening to her singing song .
From Tokyo in Japan deeply loves her .
Brilliant...Soothing
Ela canta e encanta e linda uma verdadeira deusa ,Sou apaixonado por ela .
very beatiful
過ぎた時間、とても遠い昔のように思えるけれど、この歌の世界が10年前にあった世界だとは信じられない気がする。戻ることのできない時間の中で奏でた音を聞くのが精一杯の世界。それが僕の世界。
She looks and sings absaloutly breath taking. Her ex partner Gethin must be kicking himself to lose a beautiful glamorous women.
honda1241 Her side of the story is he dumped her. If that's true he's not "kicking himself" but he's certainly a fool.
Fxxking Love This Song
SO LEAVE HER ALONE
SHE HAS A SOULFUL VOICE
LOVE HER OR HATE HER IT'S UP TO THE LISTENER
BUT I FIND HER DREAMY TO LISTEN TOO
She is British and I am American and I love her voice and she far from being hard on the eyes. So haters go to your Justines Beaver site. STOP writing shit. There is nothing wrong with European women.
Heard that, a Welsh angel.
I would follow angel like this, if ever I met her.
Lovely song lovely welsh lass!
@MOZ1175 I didn't ask you to listen to it or to love the song did I? Also you can use the mute button so you don't have to listen every time ha

Can you tell me which opera gravity came from .It must have or why would you comment on it in this manner
@bexie1992 I actually don't think they are:)
@bunionfeet1 some of the photos explain the impending implications though.
I much prefer her vibrato on these light pop tunes. When Kath sings Classical opera arias, her vibrato turns very close and tight like peaks of waves very close together. It will not be a great soprano, but sings well.
Above is beautiful and lovely.
I just listen to it with pleasure.

Well said!
Daniel Rios What is opera?? Not this pretty little pop song that's for sure.
@ChristophMannC
You just do not make comments about her ,everything you say is nasty mean .I do not get why .Any song she sings you have to ridicule her.
Nope I'm not british I'm Irish so I have real humour ha!
Katherine Jenkins yes Casatorie Arthur Giorgio 2019 yes England

@bunionfeet1 What an absolutely stupid comment. What are you on about seriously?
You're a dope!! If you are a fan of her then you'd know she has said herself her voice hasn't matured yet to sing a full opera.
:-)
