As a tourist one thing about Temple Bar pub was the atmosphere was worth paying the extra for the pint, all be it we had a better pint of Guinness in Bowes for a few Euros less but we were the only ones in there at the time. Much better pubs in town for €5 a pint. The Lark Inn on Meath St only €5 a pint. The Liberty Belle on Francis St €5.30 a pint then The Snug on Stephens St only €5.20 and all cracking pints. Three busy Pubs only a few mins walk from each other (5 Mins from the Luas) with proper Dublin Locals in them. Do a pub crawl between the 3 you can have 2 pints in each, that's 6 pints in real Dublin Pubs for pretty much the same as 3 pints in Temple Bar. Leave Temple Bar to the Tourists.

what you said at the end is quite important imo because many people online seem to not get what it means for a place to be "touristy". reddit threads will be full of locals going "shush, if you tell people where the good pubs are those will become touristy too" but when im looking for a "non-touristy" pub i just mean a high quality establishment with a sincere/authentic atmosphere, not whether other tourists are present. when i visited dublin i did avoid the pubs in temple bar solely because they were generally too crowded for me, but didnt mind paying some 8 or 9 euro for a pint when one had live music and good seats at the time

The Temple bar is a tourist trap and every touristy city has one if not many. Anybody who walks in and gets stung by the prices is the same type of tourist who is gonna get caught in other tourist traps elsewhere. These places will always exist and since no Dubliner in the right mind would ever willingly walk in there for a few pints then so be it. Have never been in there despite working around the corner in a pub many years ago but am surprised with how cozy is actually looks in this vid. Still wouldn't be caught dead in there but at least it looks pretty comfortable.

I’d pay the extra €5.10 extra at Temple Bar just to get away from the skangers at the Auld Triangle.

It's funny how in Lisbon you can get a pint of Sagres or Superbock for 1.50/2 euro straight from the source, but in Dublin it's more expensive.

Thats why I don't go to Pubs in Ireland anymore and keep my Money for a long holiday in Portugal with Bottles of cold Sagres for 90c. Not to mention the fantastic Vino they have .

You dont mind as much overpaying as a tourist especially if you are from somewhere like the States and you only have 2 or 3 drinks.
We go Dublin about once a year and while we think about price out drinking at home round York, not so much when over there. We avoid Temple Bar but otherwise just wherever looks good. Next time ill get the round in the Auld Triangle tho

The most scary thing about the temple bar is I was in there in 2017 and the price was €6.50, then as u say 2021 its €6.90 a 40 cent increase in 4 years compared to a €3 increase in the 3 years that followed.

Went there 17th of October, Xmas decoration was already up and we where shocked of the price and felt it was to high. We are from Sweden and 9,95€ = 115 SEK which means it's more expensive then a pint of Guinness in Sweden. But it was a cool experience, was there around 8 o'clock so it was overcrowded but we enjoyed it!

I wonder does the proprietor of the temple bar own the building? It’s there so long I wouldn’t be surprised. If they do then the cost of rent can be excluded from the equation.

I'm pretty sure the Merchants Arch are charging over a tenner for a pint. That's after 10pm though. Tourists don't give out cos it's that price in France or America after you've tipped. Plus they just have a couple they aren't trying to drink 8 pints.

Video ideas. Guinness guru at WIldhorse Brewery in Llandudno. Try all their beers and compare to the best Guinness in Llandudno. Rinse and repeat around the country with different breweries and cities. Always ending with the best Guinness in the area, plus throw in a few awful pints. We all love a shit pint
