    @Massimiliano Rota
    Removing the IHS and apply new paste its makes maybe about 2-3C* Cooler, but its Danger to open the CELL CPU, so if your fan is not turning crazy, u can let it Close.
    more important are the Holes on the Case for better air flow... with the holes on the case your PS3 will be about 10C* Cooler as befor!
    and than it also conforms wich Modell u have, some runs hotter and some Cooler, some needs also more Energy, and some are Energy saver.
    But the Holes is the best thing you can do to all the PS3 out there!
    Than just do the Fan a bit faster, and you will have Temps about 50-64C* at LOAD = in game... without all this mods, your Console gets standart over 95C* and a YLOD begins at 85C*, so we can say, all standart PS3 Consoles runs Hot, and thats why Sony should update them Firmwares, and set the Fan a bit faster :\
    realy a shame for Sony, thei just want be Silence, and the rest is not important we can say pfff
    PEACE ;)

      You're right, but the main problem of every PS3 models always will be BGA. WHO THE FUCK INVENTED THAT? Why not a regular socket just like in old processors? The fat models were wrongly designed, processors were too big, so much comsumption, bad refrigeration, and then too much heat. The only bad aspect of that generation were those damn BGA chips. I have 3 YLOD fatties, and a bricked super slim, you know what's comming ;)

    0x46 is not a percentage value, Control Fan Utility displays hexadecimal values from 00 to FF to indicate the speed level.
    Though it does not translate perfectly to percentages (the conversion is not linear) the hexadecimal value (0x)80 is 50% fan speed, while FF is 100%.
    There were readings of extracted data from some ps3 on a forum that showed the system's levels for regulating the fan, with a scheme of values and their corresponding speed%

    mister NSC, i know this video is kind of old, but i hope you can answer my questions, i have a 80GB fat model, not retrocompatible nor hacked yet with a black Psu, just replaced the thermal paste with artic msx 4, mine has no plastic wall in the inside
    1.-removing the psu cover is safe? can it ark electricity to the disc drive and fry the console? or is it better just to remove the cover, drill it and put it back again?
    2.-what about air compression in the fan, does drilling holes on the console lower the air pressure and affects the air flow?
    3.- do you leave the plastic cover with the PlayStation 3 letters on it or do you remove it as it seems to cover the drilled holes?
    thanks in advance

    • @NSC-Modz
      @NSC-Modz  5 лет назад

      Hello
      The black plastic PSU's runs not that hot, just let it like it is. Yes, drilling holes under the fan will let your console run really cooler and smoother, your fan will be able to get mor air and the airflow is ofcourse better to. Just search on my channel, you will find some more videos where i drilled the holes and where i did also some temperature tests. At last removing the IHS is the best you can do to your ps3. Cheers

    Hi there.
    I just saw this mod. if I do how much the temperature down?.
    what do you think of putting thermal pads over the "batteries", chips or other components of the power supply.
    Greetings.

    • @NSC-Modz
      @NSC-Modz  10 лет назад

      Hello
      it conforms how hot your PSU gets, but the diferences are just about 0.5-5C* degrees better.
      i had few weeks ago a PSU that realy gots about 70C* hot, CPU Temps was with this PSU about 75C* just in the PS3 Menu after 20min.
      After i Change the PSU to an other one, the CPU was only at 69C* after 30min. in the Menu... so it helps very much, because the CPU is seating directly under the PSU, when the PSU is overheating, the CPU will get hot to...
      and no, no Need put thermal pads over the Baterrie or under the PSU...
      Better get the PSU a bit higher, or if it´s a real HOT PSU u better Change it, or place the PSU External like my other crazy Video ;)

    Hey bro, I love your videos, but I have a question. I am currently installing a fan directly on top of the PSU, with the air direction pointing straight up so it blows the fucking heat up and out of the console, and I cut a huge hole in the top of the PSU metal case, and I made a huge hole on the top of the PS3 case so the fan can have room when the case is put back on. My main question is, I need to find a +5v and +12v power source to install the molex cable. I can't find a video or pics on the net that show pins on the CECH-A01 launch console that show detailed pics for the 12v and 5v spots so that I can solder in my molex cable to finish my mod. Can you either show me pics of where to solder my molex cable, or make a short video for it so I can complete my job and play my PS3?
    So far, I have replaced the thermal paste with Antec Formula 7, (nano Diamond thermal compound), on the GPU and CPU, under and on top of the heat spreaders, and added copper shims as well. I have replaced all the thermal silicone conductive heat pads in the console with brand new ones. I have replaced the super hot PSU, with the cooler running APS-226, many years ago, and replaced the 15 blade fan with the more efficient 19 blade fan. I have ordered a brand new potentiometer fan control to place outside the PS3 for controlling the fan speeds, and I have drilled the holes on the bottom of the console where the fan is located like yours, and in the area where the HDD is located for better cooling, (holes drilled on the top for my ODE modded PS3 Slim though and on the bottom for all around cooling).
    I think after I get the adjustable fan mod in the mail and install that, and get this fan above the PSU installed, this PS3 is ready to last forever as I have had it since launch day, and it works like a tank! I might show my vids as well, as I love modding these things! :D My 360 is modded pretty nice as well, and I want to make these things last a very long time! Thanks for your time, and I hope you can help me finish this mod.

    • @NSC-Modz
      @NSC-Modz  10 лет назад

      Hehe, Thank you very much. I will upload you soon 2 Points, one for 5volts, and one with 12v.
      It conforms also your FAN, will you use a 120mm Fan or Smaller? 120mm are the best in my eyes, thei are Cool and quite. The 120mm Fans needs mostly 12volts, otherwise thei will run to slow...
      BTW: The CECH-Axx Versions are the hottest PS3´s ever xD (No Kidding) ^^

    • @TheNewFakk28
      @TheNewFakk28 10 лет назад

      Thanks, but it is a bit pointless now. I just bought the fan mod with external excellerator, and I drilled all the holes in the top of the case, and ripped off the top of the PSU for airflow. I then attempted to wire up the fan to one of the two pins that are 12v going from the underside of the PSU and I used ground on the outer part of the metal casing, and turned on the PS3. It was on for about 8 seconds, the fan never turned on, and the system shut off. I now have the YLOD.
      After attempting to do everything on this planet to make the PS3 "YLOD proof", I have just killed my PS3 and gave it the YLOD in the very last step in making it future proof. This is my 3rd dead PS3 CECH-A01 unit and my LAST PS3 that I am going to buy. To hell with the PS3, I am done with the fucking thing. I guess it is time to throw all these in the trash and finally get a damn PS4. The PS3 is just way to damn unstable. It's a damn same the 360 is also a piece of shit that dies all the time. This gen of gaming just sucked. :P

    • @NSC-Modz
      @NSC-Modz  10 лет назад

      you sayd all i wanted to say, BUT... the PS3 Slims CECH-200x and 210x are very good products... so if you have Cut the IHS and made a Fan Adjuster, this Models runs realy Long...
      But yeah, i can fell you xD

    • @TheNewFakk28
      @TheNewFakk28 10 лет назад

      Yeah, actually I have 4 dead PS3s now because 3 of them have YLOD and one has a dead video output which displays strange colors and then overheats. CECH-A01s would have been great consoles, as they can play all PS1, PS2 and PS3 games but the death rate is complete bullshit.
      I own the slim 3006b crimson red unit, and I changed out the heat spreaders with copper shims, and used diamond thermal compound on that one, and have the fan mod, and made holes above the fan and I run the fan super loud so it runs cool, so it is a good console, but there is only 2 damn usb ports now instead of 4, there are no memory card ports, no super audio cd support and no damn PS2 backward compatibility.
      The PS2 BC meant a LOT to me, and I loved playing the PS2 games in 1080p upscaled. If the Slim had that capability then I would not mind so much, but the Slim feels like a downgrade from the CECH-A01 units, and it is not as beautiful to look at either. This YLOD shit really pisses me off, and it kills me to know that I am stuck with a slim PS3 now. I guess I ordered the PS3 fat crap all for nothing as nothing can stop them from dying.
      If SONY would have used their heads and just built the power brick outside of the console, and used leaded solder, then I think the PS3 would have been a great console from day one. But they tried to over do everything, and all they built in the end is a beautiful, heavy, ticking time bomb. :( Oh well, I guess I am going to use the Slim now and just be done with the CECH-A01s. Goodbye backward compatibility. 4 PS3s off to the trash bin.
      Thanks for the videos though, they were really neat ideas.

    hallo.....hab das netzteil 2 tage ohne deckel nackt laufen lassen!!
    es gehört dazu gesagt das man ohne dem blech auf dem netzteil die ps3 keinesfalls vertikal betreiben sollte weil die hitze sich dann im BRlaufwerk sammelt und so wie es bei mir war, der lüfter auf höhster stuffe lief und beim öffnen der ps3 war das laufwerk so heiss wie das netzteil daneben!!
    vielleich wären löcher im blech besser...dazu einen 120mm lüfter der die hitze im vertikalen betrieb seitlich absaugt!!!
    horizontal steigt die wärme schön durch die bohrungen aber vertikal nicht zu gebrauchen!!

    • @NSC-Modz

      hab oben löcher reingebohrt wie beschrieben!!
      das netzteil leicht angehoben!! die plastik teile abgerisssen
      und das blech entfernt!!
      im vertikalen betrieb steigt die hitze eben vom netzteil nach oben zum BRplayer weil das blech die wärme nicht abschirmt!!
      vorher lief sie nie so heiss und die fat lady ist schon seht alt 😄
      das war das erste mal seit ich eben das netzteil nackt gemacht hab ;)
      hab jetzt das blech durchlöchert und die wärme steigt hinauf ( horizontal betrieben) durch die bohrungen.
      vertikal muss ichs jetzt nochmal probieren!!
      aber trau mich nicht!
      trotzdem läuft sie um einiges cooler als vorher!!

    WHEN YOU TAKE THE PSU POWERSUPPLY COVER OFF, WHEN THE PS3 IS POWERED UP THE TOP OF THE LARGE CAPACITORS TO GROUND, 65 VOLTS AC, THE LARGE HEAT SINK NEXT TO THE BLUE RAY , THE HEAT SINK IS 65 VOLTS TO GROUND, BE CAREFUL, WHEN SERVICING, WORKING POWERED UP, COVERS OFF.....................

    Hi, ich habe mal eine Dumme Frage. Kann man die obere Abdeckung der PSU nicht einfach weglassen?
    Danke schon mal im voraus für die Antwort :)

    Thanks, this is really good. It would be nice if someone would show a good place to connect an added bottom fan to the CPU. Guess you could just find a connection with the right voltage that seems like a general distribution point?

    Here is my mod, I drilled holes in my ps3 to keep it cool! That is totally a mod and not just ruining a PS3 forever by putting holes in the case! Reminds me of all of the pc mods I would see done in videos by people like 8-Bit Guy where someone just put a giant hole with a fan into an old computer as though that is gonna keep it cool and he had to try and fix the giant hole!

    I still think that the PSU should be external....

      @NSC-Modz  11 лет назад +1

      Yea, and a 120mm Fan over the place where the PSU was, sure, its the best also for the Cooling!
      But this mod is also better then it is befor, so for the peoples who dont want to take out the PSU, thei can make it like this :)
      Cheers bro.
