    Presented on 6-26-24
Three experienced individuals will offer insights into our elections, including especially how few voters elect those who represent them, from the national level down to the local. Steve Daitch will discuss the work of the United States Election Assistance Commission (EAC) which was established by the Help America Vote Act in 2002. He will explain how the EAC acts as a national clearinghouse of information on election administration and what was learned about voters’ election experience in 2022. Kristi Dougan,
who works with election security, will discuss the Michigan Bureau of Election’s clerk training and education programs, including the development of the clerk accreditation process. HASP member Claudia Berry is past president of the Holland Area League of Women Voters, a nonpartisan, grassroots organization “dedicated to empowering everyone to fully participate in our democracy,” including through voter education. She will explain the changes implemented by the 2022 amendment to the Michigan Constitution (known as Proposal 2) which were designed to make it easier to vote.
