      @@WatchAdvisor I'm a big fan of A Lange & Sohne watches. I saw these two Breguet examples a week ago almost by accident and I'm just stunned at how beautiful they are.

      Schell 01 Well, both, A. Lange & Söhne and Breguet, make stunning beautiful and technically state of the art watches. Which are your favorites? Mine are the Datograph from Lange and the Marine Alarm from Breguet...

    • @schell0118
      @schell0118 4 года назад

      @@WatchAdvisor Yes, I love the Datograph too. It's quite a modern look while still remaining classical. I also love the Saxonia Automatic. I think it's perfectly proportioned, quite understated and extremely elegant.
      For Breguet it has to be the Marine Equation in the video. As attractive as the Navy Blue one is, I think I prefer the light face with the gold case. I've been looking on Breguet's web page and I think the Classique Musicale is a stunning watch as well. I think Breguet are certainly more striking to look at, but I still love the functionality of A Lange & Sohne.
      I'm sure if I had money, I'd be a watch collector.

    What fascinates me is that time is such a relative concept, yet a watch is meant to bring precision into our chaotic world and its relativity of time. It makes it even harder to grasp, when it is known fact that 1000s of years ago (sun)days were so much shorter (as studied with annual rings of fossilised polyps and corals) as our moon is drifting away, thus making (moon)nights longer. What's to give? Will we soon have to introduce a new calendar (as happened before)?

    • @visionist7
      @visionist7 3 года назад

      There are already some super complicated watches that can track two different calenders at once. The Hebrew calendar for instance. There are even watches that track the time on Mars, all mechanical.

    hm, so this watch rarely hits what we refer to as 24 hours in a day as there are always adjustments being done based on this mechanism which is supposedly creating a more exact watch. I could adjust the watch every month knowing that it measures a different time than what all the other people and instruments measure... and for this I would have to pay a fortune. Mechanically it's a nice thing but is it practical...?

      An equation of time watch shows the difference between "true" solar time (that of Nature) and "mean" solar time (that of Man). This rare and POETIC 😉 complication is often combined with other astronomical indications.
