  • #Breguet As you might already know this year Swatch Group did not attend Baselworld in March. Swatch Group for a good reason decided to leave the world watch and jewelry show and to create an own format how to present its novelties. Today is the 18th of May 2019 and I have been spending three days this week in Switzerland to discover the novelties of the luxury brands of Swatch Group. Among them of course Breguet!
    I invite you to discover this new tourbillon watch in two executions:
    Breguet Classique Tourbillon Extra-Plat Squelette 5395
    Please stay tuned since this sis only one of the first Breguet videos going online. In the next days I will continue my presentation and show you selected new luxury timepieces of Blancpain, Glashütte Original, Harry Winston, Omega and Jaquet Droz.
    Please do use the comment section of RUclips and let me know what you think and/or write me if you have any questions. I am curious to read your comments and more than happy to get back to you and answer your questions.

    I’ve always felt that Breguet doesn’t get enough credit in the horological world. Yet their timepieces possess amazing technology and beauty! And your presentation brought it the respect and dignity it so deserves.

    Beautiful! Breguet is such a polarizing maker. I’d like to see them make the Marine the way it was back in the 1990’s but with greater dial options. CFB also makes some very nice peripheral rotors on their Manero series.

    • @WatchAdvisor
      @WatchAdvisor  5 лет назад

      JumboJetPilot Breguet did not really change its design very much. It would not be a good idea since the brand’s DNA is so strong...

    • @jumboJetPilot
      @jumboJetPilot 5 лет назад

      WatchAdvisor The overall DNA of the brand might not have changed much, but the Marine, Breguet’s historical best seller, certainly has. And the newer variants of the Marine have been largely unsuccessful. The Marine has become a model without an identity. Most other RUclipsrs, including Tim Mosso, agree 100% with me on my assessment.

      sandwitch911 If correctly designed and manufactured (efficiency/friction/weight) it works like a regular one and offers the full view on the movement.

  • @DavidDatura
    @DavidDatura 5 лет назад +2

    Exquisite! My preference would be the rose gold variation here. Mind you that huge empty space to the left of the watch face could of been filled maybe with a second barrel to vastly extend the power reserve and long term accuracy by way of a better controlled release of energy that a two barrel arrangement provides. But that’s nitpicking and an 80 hour power reserve is already impressive for a single barrel tourbillon.

    • @WatchAdvisor
      @WatchAdvisor  5 лет назад

      I am sure it will not be the last time Breguet launches such a timepiece. And yes two barrels with a differential in-between could be very interesting ...

    That peripheral rotor! I wonder how serious the power loss is with the reduction in mass.

    • @WatchAdvisor
      @WatchAdvisor  5 лет назад +1

      There is no kind of reduction in mass. The weight of the gold rotor is absolutely sufficient and the gear-train working perfectly smooth to transform your moves to energy for the barrel. This has been calculated and of course proven. breguet would NEVER bring such a watch to the markets if this would not be the case...

    • @escatel6889
      @escatel6889 5 лет назад

      WatchAdvisor, I have no doubt that Breguet would be entirely scrupulous in making sure that the rotor was effective. I imagined that some additional wear time might be required to keep the watch wound nonetheless. Certainly worth it though! I’d like to see more rotors like this displaying automatic movements.

  • @gpearce11
    @gpearce11 5 лет назад +1

    A truely beautiful piece, however I don’t think I can go past the stunning enamel dial of the “standard” tourbillion extra-phat.
    If this skeletonised version of the movement was in that enamel dialed watch, I think it might just be the perfect tourbillion dress watch.
    Alternatively, get this and the 7147 (enamel dial, small-seconds). That way you get your enamel dial and skeletonised tourbillion kicks.

    • @WatchAdvisor
      @WatchAdvisor  5 лет назад

      With BREGUET it’s hard to make a decision! All their watches have something particular we like. The skeletonized tourbillon is like an ongoing film on your wrist that shows you every detail of a mechanical movement. With a magnifying glass you can discover everything and figure out who it works...

    • @SergeSheyko
      @SergeSheyko 3 года назад +1

      @@WatchAdvisor The main problem of skeleton watches is the readability of time by hands on opened mechanism background. From this point of view, the symmetry is more preferable as the free spaces. So, they need to:
      1) put the 2nd barrel spring instead of free space, to perform, around central axis, 3 equal size parts: 2 barrels and 1 tourbillon;
      2) kinematically, for that, they need to simplify crown winding and time setting gear train;
      3) The peripheral rotor is the most elegant solution, but here it is performed only one side winding direction, unreliable ball bearing support of rotor and fragile system of slippage after full winding.
