- In this video I flintknap a Dalton point and Dalton adze blade. I also give an introductory overview of Dalton culture and the lifestyle of these people.
Probably my favorite point type. Great vid.
Just found your channel. I watch a lot of Freezecracked and didn't know what to expect from your channel. I'm VERY impressed and loved the educational commentary!! You have great skill and it's obvious in the precision of your strikes and the expediency of your start to finish process! Can't wait to watch more!
Thank you! I’m glad you like what I’m putting out so much! New video will be dropping soon
This video is perfect ,because I'm stuck at home ,so I decided to make a new set of projectile points for my dart ,I'm working on making dalton's for fall deer season
Very informative production Silas. I didn't even realize it was you until the end and then it made sense. I remember a quartz crystal you worked with that same reserved sensitivity to the stone and its inherent qualities. Superb techique.
Awesome work! That Dalton is spot on and I love your commentary
Muy buen trabajo , esa punta requirió de mucho esfuerzo , te felicito y gracias por ilustrarnos.
Awesome video. I really, really liked the commentary/historical info. Keep 'em coming!!
nogie1717 thank you! I plan to keep the commentary and info coming in future vids. And even better than in this one hopefully.
The hand/ eye coordination required to take off the right size flake without breaking the point in half is considerable. Did this for years and only got "decent" at it.
Very amazing Dalton and Axe Pathways of The Past!
Very nice work! The Adze was my favourite
Daniel thank you!
Thanks Silas.....I love watching and learning about the first Americans....When do you speculate that the first arrived into this beautiful land ?
Great reductions Silas! The crystal pocket in the hornstone would have given me a headache haha.
CHARLES MCKINNEY yeah that crystal and concrete pocket really sucked haha
Infinite patience!
An excellent job again! Keep it up!
Excellent video and really nice work! Do you always start out abo and then finish up with copper?
bones&stones 65 Thank you! I appreciate the feedback. No I don’t, I prefer ago when I can. My wrist was hurting when filming this, which is why I did most of the flaking with my copper ishi stick. I end up doing copper pressure flaking about half the time, antler the other half
Flint naping flint is believable but not chert so how did they do it with chert
Chert and flint are more or less the same thing. All of the material called “flint” in the US is actually chert, including the material I knap in this video.
You need some rhyolite.
Yeah it would be awesome to have some
I was joking. The stuff is very hard to work. Makes everything else seem like glass.
What do you think gonna happen to all the fakes down the road passes a real if there good enough people lie
Are you from America? what cants you spokes the english? My name is vicky,... vicky gu ump
I don't care what you say I hate fakes
These aren’t fakes. They’re modern art pieces and reproductions. If you hate flintknapping I suppose you’re just wasting your time with these comments aren’t you?
Why the fuck are you watching?
Don't keep it up the hobby is suffering became of fakes
Lol what hobby? The collections hobby? I don’t give a care if the antiquities and relics market dies. I don’t have a problem with people surface collection on private property. But once an artifact gets sold it just loses provenience and it’s ability to inform us about past peoples.
