    To be honest, if you put all 3 watch in front of people in real life. 95 percent would pick the sub. It’s so much better.

    For me, it’s the SD43 126600 Sea-Dweller. The Sub’s “big brother” just suits my large manly wrist better than the slightly diminutive, but still great, Submariner. 😅

    After many years (some in which I even dismissed the Rolex brand), I've come around & I've done a complete 180 on my view of the Submariner. Hands down imo, the greatest GADA watch (& a title unlikely to change). From a beginner's standpoint for a person just getting into watches, a Submariner is a great choice - it will save you a lot of money while you are still evolving in your taste - if you do decide you want to pursue a different watch or brand and want to sell your Sub, you will lose little if any money (unlike almost any other watch). For an experienced watch enthusiast, a Submariner in terms of it's history, heritage, value retention, good looking, go anywhere/do anything status is, and will continue to be, hard to beat.

    • @TheRandomWatchDude
      @TheRandomWatchDude  9 месяцев назад

      And any newcomer will need to build that status over many years, which only Omega and one or two other brands can manage.

      I happen to love Omega & Tudor, and they both have very compelling watches (including the two you mentioned). You can't go wrong with any of these 3 watches.@@TheRandomWatchDude

    Knowing the sub hold its value despite no intention of letting it go is also a plus point to me. Who knows one might need to get out of a certain circumstances in a foreign country where immediate cash is needed and the sub will be a life saver in those circumstances.

    The near Vintage Omega 2254.50 that you owned can be the Best Option..............Best Seamaster Design as now............Or Rolex 116600

      @TheRandomWatchDude  9 месяцев назад +1

      I agree, in my collection, I would go for the 2254.50. Although for this video I kept it at current models only. Maybe another fun video would be, any watch that's ever been made!

    I think the sub has a lindy effect. Its reputation & style hasn't really changed ( much) in 50 years so ( slightly ironic) for something that measures time , it's timeless.

    I voted the Omega Seamaster Diver 300. Would’ve definitely voted for Submariner if you listed the no-date version. I’m not really a fan of the date cyclop.

    If you said which watch is better, I would have gone for the sub just because of the size and perfect fit for my skinny wrist. Also, dont have that extra helium escape valve, which I won't ever use.
    But it is because you said as an everyday wear I would not really wear the sub just because of getting paranoid that my arm would get chopped off in London 😂
    Let's say if I was in a less crowded city or maybe the countryside, then yeh fair enough. I would wear the sub every day, so in the end, it just depends where you are every day.

    • @TheRandomWatchDude
      @TheRandomWatchDude  9 месяцев назад +1

      Yes, that's where the back-up shitter watch comes into play huh. I went to Paris last year with my family and left the Rolexes in the safe and wore a Planet Ocean 45.5mm! I had not the faintest trace of worry on the trains or at night etc. Poor Planet Ocean!

    I started off with a disdain for the brand because of the images of some of its wearers. It was only after owning one and finding myself reaching for it over my other brands (this process took years) that I did a full 180 on my previous opinion. The Sub is an icon for a reason. I also like the brand's philanthropy.

      Yep that's exactly how I got there. I think everyone does in the end. It's a right of passage to hate them for a while first though! You can lead a horse to water.... but

    Honestly the bedt exit watch for me would be a Christopher Ward C63 GMT white dial (39mm light catching case with 150m WR). This is the do-it-all watch for me.

    In NZ the wait list for the Submariner is 600+ people long. The local AD gets around 100 per year... So the wait list is 6 years.

    • @TheRandomWatchDude
      @TheRandomWatchDude  9 месяцев назад

      Yes and yet a friend of mine with zero purchase history, and no serious interest in watches got one recently after a wait of 3 or 4 months from one of those Auckland ADs...

      @MBCGRS I know it's really hap-hazard isn't it. I genuinely think it depends on the day, who gets pulled out of the hat, and whether you visited recently. I told my friend to go and visit every 6 weeks and chew the fat for half an hour, and it worked!

      Depends on where you live, and relativities. In some places in the world you'll get the shoes taken off your feet, but in others, a Rolex is tacky junk. You have to be streetwise with any watch or item of value - that's just life!

      @@TheRandomWatchDude Big difference between expensive shoes that have been worn and the most recognizable piece of jewellery that can be almost immediately liquidated into cash. Rolex watches are super unique in that sense and you can't compare that trait to other items. Its a watch you can't wear on holiday unless you go to a resort or not leave the hotel. There are more expensive watches that are harder for criminals to liquidate. And most people will probably judge you for wearing a Rolex vs ALS because most don't even know what ALS is. YOU can have a sub as a final watch but lets not pretend its not the world's most recognizable expensive accessory.
