Thank you! I'm a Social Studies teacher in the Philippines. I'm looking for a new microphone to use for my online classes and recorded video lessons. I have this cheap setup involving a BM-800 condenser microphone, a generic Phantom power supply and a V8 sound card. It didn't produce the sound that I had hoped it would. The total cost for this setup is about the same as that of this Maono USB microphone. Your review was really helpful!
What I could recommend is remove the V8 Sound Card, then just use the BM-800 with the Phantom Power. Download Voicemeter, it is free. Just search it in Google, then play with its settings. There are also a lot of tutorials already for this. If you hear some buzzing sound, it might be that your gain is too high, you can lower it to 75% using the Windows Sound Control Panel, or if you can still hear it, you might have a grounded PC. For the grounded PC, which is common in Philippines if you haven't installed some ground wires, you can try adding a ground wire, just a simple elecrtic wire link to a rod and dug to ground. So far, it produced a lot better sound. BUT if you want to use the V8 Sound Card, I suggest not using its USB connection. I mean, use the USB only to power the V8 Sound Card. Don't connect it to PC, you can just connect it to any power source using a USB Power Adapter, same as the one you are using to charge your phone. Then to connect the V8 to PC, use a 3.5mm to 3.5mm cable, usually the one used for speakers. You can buy it online for like 65 pesos or 100 pesos in ACE Hardware. Connect the cable on the "Headset" port of V8 then connect the other end on the Microphone port on your PC, the pink one. It will sound a lot better than the USB connection. THEN, you can again use Voicemeter to attain your most desired output. Again, I am not a sound expert or anything but just wanting to share to you what I discovered.
