- In this video I dropped the body on the confirm wheel placement, and mocked up the fenders.
Are you full fenders or fenderless?

When I was early in the custom motorcycle build scene (for myself, not for 'customers') I learned quickly how spending time on mocking-up was absolutely not a waste of time - it actually is a great time saver! Lessons learned!
Full fenders and widen the rear fenders to clear the tire so you don't have to lift it. The lower the better. Love your content!
I think it would be less labor to narrow the rearend than widen the fenders
@@LGKustoms both!
@@LGKustoms either way full fenders and running boards
I like the stance with the slight lift. My thought was throw the east coast fenders on the front.
@@LGKustoms but which way would look better?
I don't know why but sometimes full-fendered with running boards looks really nice and classy it just flows with the car and the whole design
Yup!
@@LGKustoms I don't know why but that car just screams for that same cherry red paint job as the engine block or even a metallic White with a nice metallic cherry red pinstriping but not too over the top but go with that nice tuck and roll red and white interior with tie this beauty together
Living here in Oz, where fenders are mandatory, I'd vote for fenderless!!
Motorcycle fenders fixed solid to each front wheel, and bobtailed rear fenders, and a channeled body and radiator grill to match.....that would be a cool California 60s look...🙂
I just saw an old photo a few days ago of what you described. Looked so good!
My vote would be full fenders, I'm with the sixties look on that car. Gr8 seeing it come together and that Arden in the background. Love your work.
Thanks! I have a few videos on the Ardun build as well. Go check them out!
@@LGKustoms haven't missed one
I’m really liking the look of full fenders. I even like the look of the sidewall sticking out of the rear fender. Perfect.
Me too!
Great video Lee, fabrication is a put it together, take it apart, over and over etc etc process...lol, and each time we do this learn something a little different, and pass it on the next generation of builders and fabricators. It is, and always, and has been, fun to experiment with different ideas of anchoring rear ends, front ends, engine and trans mounts. I remember back in the 60s buying mounts and adapters, from Honest Charlie, J.C. Whitney, and others, and adding strength, via gussets, and creating my own ideas of what I thought would keep everything together on the road at 30 mph, and 100 + mph. I envy you and that great shop to play in, O what fun to create, fabricate and build a one of a kind Hot Rod.....I remember when my wife and I lived in Tennessee, our good friend Jason Graham & Tasha of Jason Graham Hot Rods, in Portland, Tennessee, would build some great Hot Rods, and spend hours, days and weeks doing just what you and Shannon are doing, building fun rides. And the thought that goes into each and every build is nothing short of building great rides, based on great ideas....🙂
Thanks for sharing! Sounds like you’ve built some cool stuff!
Fenders just fit this build, such a sweet car. Other than my 36 sedan my next favorite early ford is a 32 2 door sedan with a chop. Love this build
Thanks!
Full fender.!! I have a deuce roadster that is a VERY high-end build. I have thought over the years of making it federless, then I see all these fenderless deuces and that made my mind up to keep the fenders, and I'm glad that I did. I get more comments telling me that it's so nice to see one with fenders as the seeing all the ones without fenders is boring.
I like what you said about it just being metal, just car parts. It reminded me of a friend of mine. When I met him he had an F100 with a 390 in it. When it started knocking he put a 396 Chevy motor in it, and when he blew that up he put a 401 AMC motor in it. When I asked him how he did it he said “ they’re all just scrap iron, if you can cut and weld you can make anything work!”
Exactly!
I totally enjoyed this , some laughs, knowledge, and a dog 🐶. Merry Christmas to you Lee , Shannon and Doris . Thanks , oh ya fenders ✅
Merry Christmas!
Makes me think of the orange crate from back in the day. Luvin this.
My friend Bruce kept calling it the Maple Crate when I first bought it
Hi Lee and Shannon , since you already have running boards and front and rear fenders you may as well use them . If you didn't , I would not bother looking for some . Full fendered is more practical . Fenders or not it's still a hotrod . Have a great Christmas and a happy New Year !
The fact the car came with the fenders was a big deciding factor.
Merry Christmas to you guys too!
Nice work, I vote for full fender.
Definitely fenders! No fenders is too street rod looking on that, at least for me. Definitely more work, but worth it. Be careful when you dimple the diff cover, the pinion is lubed mostly from oil that is trapped between the ring gear and the cover and is carried over the top and thrown to the front of the case, if you squeeze that down too much I've seen it starve the pinion bearing. You can go a little and not hurt anything.
I shouldn’t have to dimple the cover anymore. There is over 1/2” of clearance now.
So happy you like the fender view - oh yea, and leave the rear tires hanging out a bit as well. As you said, "Going fast, standing still".
fenderless. As a kid in a little town in New Zealand, one of the local hot rodders had a chopped 32 Tudor sedan. Flattie powered of course because OHV engines were rare and expensive back then. To this day I still think I'd build one one day but as I approach my 7th decade time is passing by too quickly.
The fenders would look nice in the the color of the off white interior 👌
I vote for fenders with rear tires tucked in slightly and maintain the lower stance ---- a classic hot rod look.
Full fender! Looks perfect, very gangster.
Fenders look way better, adds class. Glad you like the full fender look. Wicked.
I agree
In 1962 I had a 33 Chevy w/o fenders.
After 78 years of living with memories of Model A's, I dig the fenders.
Great project
Full fender, looks so good. Also practical in the wet.
Agreed!
Hey Lee ! Growing up in the sixties and seventies (I was nine in '65) it was jacked in the back and low in the front and no fenders and you rarely if ever saw sedans (or maybe that was just me). I love sedans and fendered '32s and '34s viewed from the front are beautiful. I think fenders look better on a sedan than a coupe. I would lower the front end a bit and the rear fenders hang too low in the rear for my taste. Also I don't like the look of the running boards. But I know what ever you decide - it will look cool and I'm really enjoying this build and look forward to seeing what you come up with ! Hope you, Shannon and yours have a wonderful Christmas and see you after the Holidays !!
Thanks! Merry Christmas to you too!
its gonna be a neat cool ride! im even excited for you! haha. congrats!
Thanks!
great show
Thanks
I vote fenders too. Full fendered with the chopped roof will look perfect. Next it will be hood or no hood or hood top.
Definitely a hood. It rains too much here haha
I always felt that model A and 32 rear fenders should be bobbed. Gives it more of a hot rod look.
I could be in to bobbed fenders at the back
It's looks awesome
Love your build it’s lookin awesome but definitely Chanel it a couple of inches and gotta be fenderless 👍
Really enjoy watching you keep up the awesome videos. I was going to say fender less but when you put the full fenders on, that made my decision full fenders👍
Me too
This is going to mess with your head once again ! Yes get the rearing back another 1” but you did mention channeling that what I would consider cheers man the program keeps me enthusiastic cheers BRIAN
Thanks Brian. Channeling would be pretty cool, but that’s so much labor! Haha
Def full fenders my opinion. What a awesome car brother. Merry Christmas 🎄🎁
Merry Christmas!
The full fenders with the colour and wheels you've picked are really cool! I've just got my full fendered A roadster on the road, it it looks cool too although my other car has no fenders and it is much easier to work on.All the best for the new year!
Thanks! Your roadster sounds cool, I actually have a full set of fenders for my roadster too. They’re definitely easier to work on without the fenders!
Awesome very cool fenders yes. You got about a inch between the cover and the ring gear 🎉🎉🎉🛠️🇨🇦🛠️🇨🇦🎅mErry Christmas Lee and Shanon
Merry Christmas Badge!
NM🇺🇲 Merry Christmas and stay blessed.
Merry Christmas
Just catching up on this build! I'm another vote for full fendered - if it was a coupe or a roadster it'd be a much more difficult decision, but with the sedan it stops it looking like the back above the swage line is overly heavy.
Oh, and that chop is perfectly proportioned!
Agreed!
Fenders look awesome on those cars
That looks real good with all fenders
Agreed!
Well, i think sedans looks better with fenders. If this was a coupe or a roadster, i would say no to fenders. That rear axle is slightly too wide for my taste, but otherwise it looks pretty sweet!
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas
Closed sedan should have full fenders. Love your videos!
Thanks
I vote for full fenders doing whatever you have to do to get them to work. You drive your cars in all weather and you've already got a no fender pre-war hot rod. So narrow the rear end so you can lower the body/fenders a little more over the tire, lower the front for the look you want and there you go! I also have a question. When did you put the stock exhaust manifolds on the roadster? Did I miss an episode?
I put the manifolds on over a year ago. The car had to pass an inspection so the open exhaust system had to go.
Hi! You may want to strengthen the middle of the rear crossmember where you removed the lip for clearance. When the spring flexes it will crack the crossmember right in the middle.Love your work!
I think it’ll be okay, this car isn’t bumping around old dirt roads anymore. The aftermarket crossmembers are considerably lighter duty than this original one, and I’ve never see one fail.
Appreciate your concern though! Thanks for watching!
@@LGKustoms thanks for your reply!
Hey Lee another cool vid of you new toy! I say to run the fenders!! I think the style is sweet and knowing most of your pasts hot rods with open wheel look, I would say get into a new vibe with fenders on!
Agreed
If your sitting around bored with nothing to do today and you have 20mins to watch a barn find 34....I could sure use an LG comment consult on stabilizing a body for a future lift off and floor/rocker repairs. Thanks brother. Or roadtrip brown sugar to Florida and crash in the apartment for a collaboration.
I’ll check it out!
Merry Christmas - Narrow the rear end and run those fenders stock width, fully fender-ed will look killer! , but I could live with fenderless too --- You'll make the right decision
Merry Christmas!
I like it both ways I would go fenderless for awhile add fenders next year for a change
Fenders on looks right for a sedan. Tires hanging out and a bit of a rake is perfect.
Agreed. Thanks
Great vid as usual, my vote would defo be full fendered. Mean looking.
Thanks!
Just for your peace of mind, and interesting that you got there on your own, the correct wheel base on a 32 ford is 32INCHES. Well done and super awesome videos. Im trying to get my fenders set up on my 32 coupe, oh its soooo much fun, not! lol
The correct wheelbase for a 32 Ford is 106”.
I think it looks better with full fenders. Some cars look good without fender but this one looks good with them. But then it is your car and you can build it to meet your expectations and not other people.
My vote would be to widen the fender and drop her down lower. Just my 2 cents, it will look cool any way you do it !
Probably easier to narrow the rearend
Sedan/Sedan Deliveries I would always do full fender, Coupes and Roadsters I could go either way depending on the build
Agreed
I like the fenders looks gangster.
Agreed
Full fenders, absolutely!
Interesting some flights into Vic have been cancelled, looks like the snow problem is over. Have a great Xmas
This was filmed last weekend. I posted a video a few days ago of our current conditions.
Really awesome build this one it's funny I,ve always been that American Graffiti type of guy yet you have given me a new choice of body style I like it
So what do I do go and buy a very clean 1954 International AR110 Side Step Pickup ha ha it was going to be a Ratrod now it's more like a Hotrod what I,ve spent on respraying the wheels Red of course Baby moons New Dress trims an white walls I could of bought mag wheels cheaper ha ha
But hey I,m retired now wife is right into the style too
Fenders would be my choice. But it is your car.
Take care,
Rick
Full fenders, definitely!
We're getting rain across the Strait, but at least the snow is melting and it's warmer! I'm going to say fenders just because there is a reason to have them(rain). Hey, a clutched forklift!
That was also a major factor in my decision.
It looks good with the fenders. Just move the center of your wheels out it will pull the tire under the fender for very little work.
That’s actually a pretty good idea!
It does looks sweet fenderless but I think it was totally the right call going with fenders with the combination of what you are running it gives it a meaner more aggressive look
100% agree
I always answer that question with, "Build what you wanna build"! I personally like this body without fenders. The rails have a design feature worth showing off. But I'm not the owner nor will I ever be driving it. Either way it's going to be a nice ride.
Oh I am building it the way I want, but it’s always fun to hear other people’s views and opinions.
Finders for sure
Axle back, motorcycle fronts, bobbed rears no running boards and keep the wide tires/axle.
Or fenderless.
...hi Lee....been hoping you'd somehow find the time to get back to the 32....I also vote for fenders.....she'll look complete and finished, all said and done....
I try to alternate every weekend between the 32 and the Comet.
She lookin good look better
with the fenders//// either way👍
I vote for fenders. Once you put the rear fender on it looks longer, lower , meaner.
Yup!
Definitely full fender 😍
Good choice!
Gotta run fenders, but don't widen the rears. Looks great!
I’m not planning on widening the fenders
Should’a put some casters on that ‘32 wood pallet. Would make it easier to move the body around.
Maybe. I’ve only moved it once since taking it apart.
In my opinion, no fenders looks killer! The two door sedan is my favorite model A. Merry Christmas Lee.
Merry Christmas!
Merry Christmas!
I like full fenders, no fender has been over done, jmo
My vote would be to channel it.
Ha! Come help then! That’s a lot of labor!
That would look sweet 👌
Fenders for sure!!
Definitely full fenders!
Fenderless ! How else are you going to get mud clods on the roof when you do doenuts in the wet 🤣😂🤣😂🤣👍👍🤪Merry Christmas 👍🇭🇲
Ha! Merry Christmas to you too
I say full fenders.the front wheel looks to forward a bit. But looks killer.
I think that’s mainly cause the fender is tweaked, and also just balancing there. I don’t have the fender brackets yet.
No fenders pie crust slicks on the rear 2” white walls chrome reverse rims 👍🏻
In 1962 I had a 33 Chevy w/o fenders. I’d go fender less. 😎
Full fendered for sure !
Yup!
I like it with the fenders. Can you widen the rear fender 1" or 2", find a different offset wheel. Merry Christmas to you and Shannon.
It would be less labor to narrow the rearend I think. Merry Christmas to you too!
My one full fender 32 sedan has the rear fenders rolled gives extra clearance and not many people notice it. My other one is fenderless LOL.
Two 32’s?! Well I guess that’s one way to get the best of both worlds!
Full fender and make it a sedan delivery with the shop name on the side.👍
Doris needs windows to see out of. How will she know when we get to the park without windows?
Do you like hanging your elbow out on the window sill when driving? If so, go with fenders. With out fenders, your arm may get pelted with small rocks off the left front tire tread. That hurts! Good luck with the decision!
Depends how cold it is haha. In the 11 years of driving my fenderless roadster, I’ve only had one rock hit my elbow.
Lots of bugs though. They hurt too.
thinking the fenders look best on the sedan, probably narrow that rear a few inches/side and leave height. be...front fender profile may improve when you get your braces....looking good!!
I think dropping the front a bit more will also improve the front.
Lee,….you mentioned replacing the Model A steering box with a Ford F1. Did you maintain the Model A steering column, or use something else. Do you have a video of the procedure? Thanks so much for some of the best tutorials on RUclips.
Hi! Glad you like the videos. This 32 has had an F1 steering box since I bought it, and am planning on reusing the same F1 box. My Model A has a 39 Ford steering box.
I do make a flange kit to install an F1 steering box in a model a. Is that what you are referring too?
If so, no I do not have a video on it, yet. But hopefully in the next while I will. As for the steering column, you could use the model A column on the F1 box if the tube diameter was the same. I don’t normally use model a columns cause they have all the timing and throttle levers on them that become irrelevant when the 4 cylinder comes out.
Fender's Look Good
full fender!!
I like it with the fenders myself I have a 31 fenderless sedan no I want fenders
Fenderless for sure. Just my opinion.
Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas!
I think full fenders. I like the look on 32's and 34's.Just my opinion.
Me too
Full fenders....Beautiful car either way
Thank you
I'm surprised you haven't made a little rain cover for the roadster yet
In this economy?!
Hey hey from Northern California just joined your channel today nice rides on the 32 fenders are good like to see a hood with sides what do you think
Thanks for joining! In part 10 I was messing around with the hood.
The plan is to run a full hood, I drive my cars year round in all weather.
Yes so do I I've been a since I saw my first rod and custom magazine just a kid then still a kid now drive my hot rod daily and ride the Harley in between I'll check out number 10 and the rest
Full fendered if you please!
Full fenders 1000%!!! Widen them if you need to.
