I honestly don't always like to listen to Timothy Keller... because then I hear very REAL truth that convicts the poop out of me, dealing with my struggles (or just unwillingness) to submit to God's will. We all want to change, including me, but I find myself only wanting to change certain things on my own terms, while other things I refuse to surrender to God, at all. He really got me bad at the 20:26 mark when he talked about how all the gifts go together and how we can have have counterfeit peace, humility, humbleness... fake gifts, basically. I'm definitely the one with a counterfeit gentleness, peace and self control. I also struggle with being a person of integrity, Being the same person in public that I am in private and having real self control.

😂 atleast your honest about it that's the first step you're on the right track. I used to be like that with pastor Raul Ries but that was a long time ago. Tim Keller helps me wake up and face myself. I just discovered this pastor but I'm sure if I heard this years ago I would feel like you.

Drinner D My friend , the best thing I can do for you is to tell you to check yourself with God. You may not be born again. In Matthew 24 Jesus spoke of false Christ’s. But it’s not just Muslims who have a different Jesus, so do Mormons , Jw’s even catholic’s and others who truly believe they know Jesus . Even Baptist’s. , penticostals. It’s them who have truly surrendered their all who know Jesus. Get on your knees and cry out to God for the gift of repentance . Ask him to reveal the truth to you . If it’s from the heart he will answer. God bless you and your family.

You're not alone. Ouch! I have been deceiving myself. I'm grateful to have truth clearly spoken. I pray that I be willing to fully submit to God.

@@jackieramsbottom7458 thanks for your consideration, I guess... but in all honesty, there's a difference between sharing about things you regularly struggle with, in your pursuit of Christ ... and actually not knowing Him. I struggle because I do know Him. He compels me to submit to Himself and since my desire is to love Him and be intimate with Him and not try to score "spiritual points," in order to feel okay enough for Him to just leave me alone, I find it to actually be a difficult process sometimes and also falter on occasion. The Lord thankfully is gracious. Maybe you are someone who never struggles, and if you are like the rest of us who genuinely do, would it really be helpful to hear someone who doesn't know you at all tell you it's probably because your salvation is false? All I can do is submit my life to Him, he does the rest as far as my salvation goes... but as He's been changing my heart and other stuff it hasn't at all been a walk in the park. It's actually made things more difficult in some ways as that refining process takes hold of you, as I assume you know. So, I will live in fear of His power, in reverence to Him. I will not, however, live in fear of other people's words or be "tossed back and forth by the waves" every time I confess my struggles because there's always someone on the other end who doesn't know you at all or understand your struggles who's waiting to convince you that you're still lost. Thankfully, it's a rare encounter but it's unhelpful none the less. Pardon my frustration. Perhaps this wasn't your intention, but it simply can't always be the issue. Repentance is always a necessity, though, so in that, I thank you for the reminder... but we need to stop assuming that everyone but ourselves is lost.

Wow. As usual, Tim Keller has delivered a message that I will think on and pray about for days. I have never heard anyone explain the fruit of the spirit in such an effective and profound way. The contrast he made between true and "counterfeit" fruit stunned me. I am overcome! I forwarded this to a few friends. I hope they are also blessed by it. Tim is my favorite preacher. His ability to go deep into the word and relate it to listeners on a personal level is truly remarkable.

Excellent. The truth is always hard to hear but needs to be heard if we really want to put Christ first as He calls us to. The rest will flow naturally (alas slowly as Tim says) when we first love God genuinely but mostly when we are truly assured of His immense love for us regardless of our performance. Once He has deposited in seed form a new heart and new nature in us, that is how He sees us, transformed and beautiful (inside.) He is ever so patient with us and knows that some have more issues to deal with than others. Once we see ourselves as He does and KNOW without a doubt how much He loves us we don't need other peoples love or praise any longer, we no longer need to defend ourselves or prove ourselves. We are free to genuinely love others even when they test us (disrespect or rejection). Walking in the Spirit is a choice but it also comes more naturally when we abide in Christ's love for us and it is ENOUGH. When we know that walking in the Spirit and not giving in to our fleshy impulses is a life filled with peace. God knows best ☺

What about that guy who struggled with homosexuality? He left. And when u saw him again he said he overcame the temptation. That he was empowered by the Spirit? I proabably got it all wrong but I would love to hear more about that story. I'm so caught up with temptation. Not homosexual but still just as bad.

David White the church, not Keller, has made homosexually a target..like the mote in the eye vs the beam it has led to an avalanche of judgementalism, hypocrisy, self righteousness, cruelty. It has helped others eclipse resigning their own sins while they throw rocks at others.

When he brought up "Meyers Briggs" by saying "it's your Meyers Briggs-ness..." I had to stop it. The Meyers Briggs was founded through "channeling". It is not founded through science, but through spiritual channeling, same as the Enneagram. Please do not be involved with these things! Look further into where they came from and what is truly behind them.
I can appreciate his overall message otherwise. I do usually enjoy some of his sermons.
