Thank you so much for the well paced, explanation of each step, the reason behind it and removing the fear. I'm an old guy who has been converting home movies from both 8/Super 8mm and VHS tape to MP4. I've added music from that area on the silent 8mm stuff just to help trigger memories of the times. And now thanks to you, I can add some unique but simple title intros for special moments like births, weddings, celebrations and vacations. Family traditions can live on ... be revisited and shared easily. Thank you helping preserve special memories.

Great tutorials. Rare to find ones with the balance between speed and unrushed mouse placements in order to follow along on even basic movements or menus that may not even be the subject of the tutorial but which many of us find useful or are rusty on. So many blaze through their clicks out of habit and I'm rewinding the video 15 times just to see where the guy clicked that mouse. Your proxy video took me one rewind to find the menu while following along. This one has me looking ahead to playing around with blur and ripple Easy subscribe

Hey Ben, another great tutorial. I've learnt a lot from your work over the past few years. One thing I now prefer to do with text appearing like this is to use "crop rectangle" instead of masks. It seems to make life and performance on my old Linux machine somewhat better. Otherwise it is probably just personal preference. Keep up the good work, and I'm looking forward to your next fishing video!
Hi Ben. I use shotcut for the most basic of video editing operations... :) learning this effect will certainly take my editing skills to a higher level... Thanks a lot.
Wow..... just wow All your tutorials are very imaginative and creative. Thank you for sharing. A question : I don't understand why we turned the operations in mask filter from override to subtract, couldn't it be subtract from the beginning?
Thanks! looks great. Any tips on achieving the same effect but not exactly in the centre? having all sorts of issues with the keyframing and the text box position when not exactly centered
I am a beginner. I would like to get a better understanding of how powerful or what the limits of this software are in order to determine whether it is the right one for me. So, could you drop the link of any professionally edited video in Shotcut, please? Thank you so much. 😃😃😃
Shotcut as a free program helps a lot of content creater! However, especially in the beginning it is quite hard to get into it. For this reason, such videos are tremendously helpful for everyone! Well done Greetings Swiss_fellow!
hey ben nice one . if i wanted to save those first two tracks and wanted to use them on other videos with different pics . how do i save it so i can use it on videos i make in the future .so i dont have to remake it each time i make a new video ? have you got a video explaining something like that ?
Hi Ben, wondering if you can answer a question regarding the flip filter. I have put in my title as you indicated, set the keyframe for it to move down. Then copied the clip below the original clip and added the flip filter. But the flipped text moves to the top of my frame (not directly under the original text). How do I get it so they are together (like a mirrored image) as yours shows?
Worked really great. one suggestion i have is to make the duration a bit longer if you are planning on fading the title out at the end then don't put the initial keyframe right at the end but at say 3/4. this will allow the title fully rise up and still have time to fade out once fully emerged.
Nice video tutorial, but I have a problem withe my video clip after dragging it tp the timeline, I put over a image so I could use green screen and when I play back the video it plays slowly, I don't know what I am doing wrong. I tried several times removing the video clip from the timeline and from the playlist, then bring it back and sometimes it plays fine on the player panel. Any ideas? Thanks.
No filter needed. I would just look for a transparency or green screen file that has the grime look you need and add as a layer on top of your clip. You can also check some of the "Old Film" filters to see if that works for you
There is a bug right now with keyframes where it defaults the position to 0 and 0. Change numbers and you should be able to find where the text has moved to
Just a question. I understand the concept of using flip filter. Couldn't you also set the mask on the 1st track prior to copying and pasting to 2nd track? Shouldn't it flip the masking position as well?
I am trying to use the same font , color, and size throughout my videos .However, the text size always changes depending on the number of characters in the text, regardless of specifying font size . Any advice?
Hi. Love the videos! Once I have my title reveal clips setup (as above) then is there any way of saving these 2 tracks (V1 and V2 above) so that I can use it for future videos? I don't really want to have to go through his process every time that I make a new video. Cheers - Dave
