I bought the deck for the soul purpose of putting windows on it, to my surprise upon tinkering with it, I enjoyed using linux more. I added all the launchers for my games, added emulators, things that I can easily do on windows I added to the deck on its default OS

Really good video man. A lot of the guys out there keep trying to push me into Lutris. Im trying to get out of Windows to avoid having to juggle multiple launchers. Im not recreating that experience on Linux.
Well keep both methods at hand. Sometimes lutris does solve the problem. But my first priority is also just basic non-steam method.

what's the issue with cloud save on heroic?
@@GrownUpGamingGUG For example I have Control installed in both the deck and the PC, both have cloud saves activated, but the saves won’t go from deck to pc and viceversa.
@@enriquesanders I'm playing Witcher 3 and it just works for me. I just use the settings and then cloud save. I'll take a look if I have time for other games.
@@GrownUpGamingGUG Thaks mate. I'll see if I'm doing something wrong then. I searched online and a lot of peope were having the same trouble with epic cloud saves. Maybe GOG works fine.
Thanks for the help! Have you tried enabling the command to allow protontricks to access games stored at SD card? I tried but it didnt work
download flatseal from discover, it allows permissions for flatpaks.

What if I want to put another Microsoft c++? How do I remove it if I put it in by mistake, I try to do it and it doesn't come off

Im recently having an issue with protontricks where in it quits\crashing about 60 seconds into lauching it. I have had working and usable previously. Any eles had this issue? How did you fix it?
Can you uninstall it and reinstall it?
Yes. I tried that, theu both discover store and purging it in terminal. Same behavior after reinstalling
@@XavierYThandle that's depressing. Maybe try factory reset and start over. That's what I would do if it happens to me.

Trying to install desktop runtime and it's not working. Pretty much everything else works besides that and I need it for an application, not sure what to do 😭
Yes, .net is hard to install sometimes. Which version are you trying to install?
What about SD card? Can't figure out where to copy the path and what to write in the path. Asks me to get access to the SD

I've heard of people getting the Elden Ring Convergence mod working on steam deck if that's another steam deck mystery you'd want to solve lol. Also been looking for a way to play modded Subnautica on the deck but so far have had no luck
i haven't played enough elden ring to mod it. i played like 2 hours of it and gave up. maybe i will try again.
@@GrownUpGamingGUG a mate and I managed to get seamless coop to work but no other elden ring mods so far, and Subnautica we have had no success at all lol

Is it possible to create a folder for all the windows games and install all the compat data so you dont have to do it each time?
Use lutris to manage. Don't add non-steam game.
i recommend you don't do this. otherwise you are one fuck up away from having to re-do everything (like reinstalling windows). the problem is you can't really control what individual game installers do with dependencies, they can and do easily fuck up your install.
hello and congratulations for these videos that help a lot us steam deck owners I wanted some advice sometimes non-steam games require visual C++ I installed the program on the deck and then I give it as a start option in the steam library and it works you me Do you recommend your method or will I continue with mine?

How do you get community controller layout for non steam games. Some of the games does not recognize the steam controller at all
Community layouts load according to the name of the non-steam game you give it.

I have an issue when i tried to install Microsoft visual C++ via Protontricks. It said that " Protontricks was closed due to the following error: Proton installation could not be found! ". Do you know how to solve it? Thank you
Did you run the game once so it generates the prefix folder first?

I tried this method to install Control, the plague Requiem and STAR war Jedi fallen order but games doesn't work even with luris, it doesn't work at all. And i tried updating the OS to V3.5 and lutris worked. Pls what can I do to get it to run without using Lutris but just With this method?
I've installed control before. Shouldn't be a problem. Jedi fallen order I haven't as I have it on epic games store which I regret buying there.

That random number folder is the prefix folder, like a virtual machine of windows. It's needed to run your windows game on Linux.

Just run the game with proton and it will generate automatically.
Did you have to use flatseal to give protontricks permissions?
if you can't see your sd card in protontricks, then use flatseal to give it permission.
Hogwarts didn't start for me, I did everything exactly like you. I thought the problem was in the game, but it starts normally on the PC (windows)

Not sure, what game are you trying to install?
I’m interested in this too for ghost recon breakpoint. It requires uplay (now Ubisoft connect which I’ve already installed)

No you don't, just run the game in gaming mode and controllers are by default.

If the whole point of the app is just to give you the folder name, you'd think they could link to the folder, or at least let you copy the name from the app...
Well, you don't really need to go to the folder. I'm just showing you where it's located.if you need to backup saves and stuff, you need to know where it's located. Else, just installing dependencies don't require going to the folder.

you launch the game and it doesn't launch or you are playing the game and it crashes?

I think you game needs dependencies to launch. Like visual c++, directx, etc.

when I try to use proton tricks I get this error (Protontricks was closed due to the following error: proton installation could not be found!) I have made a video asking for help about this error as well. I am not sure if it go against TOS if I post the link of the video here. I am not sure how to fix this error. Either you haven't launched the game once first, it needs to be played once in order to generate the prefix folder. Or you forced a proton that isn't supported like steam tinker launch.

I was trying to install dependencias through Lutris and it kept giving me a "need 34bit Winetricks folder" maybe this is what it's needed the whole time. I will give this a shot next time, thanks a ton!!!
what dependency were you trying to install?
@GrownUpGamingGUG I was trying to install the vcrun15 and I also need DirectX, both kept giving me the same error.
Just use protontricks to install those. No need to use lutris.

Oh, it might just run through proton, may not need dependencies.

@@adyt2775 you don't run that with protontricks. Just run it as non-steam game on steam or use lutris to run it as installer.

how does it not work? does it have error? or you press install and nothing happens? maybe check the steamos version you are on, and see if you can get on another version.
