The government must stop subsidizing the meat, dairy and sugar companies. Start subsidizing organic farmers. Start caring about the citizens of your country.

One of the BIGGEST reasons is the soul food we eat! I try to tell my family and friends to stop eating that delicious junk! But my people as a whole are addicted and think food doesn't taste good any other way. I get laughed at all the time and told that my food is bird food. Lol.
We have to put most of the blame on ourselves for the choices we make. Some say food and organic foods are too expensive....but those same people get their hair and nails done weekly! They have expensive clothes and expensive sneakers. So which is more important, organic real food or looking good for people who care nothing about you?

Living in several different states in the last 45 years, I can tell you, people across the board are addicted to junk. Blacks don't go to the doctor nearly as much as other races. Sadly, there are strong historical and current reasons to support the fear Blacks have of hospitals. Couple that with a system that's outright ball-and-chaining Blacks... You got yourself a national crisis as far as I'm concerned.

All too familiar with the "too expensive" part coming from people in $150 shoes, driving $60K cars, smoking two $10 pack of cigarettes a day, getting that supersize meal, gambling $100's a week on lottery tickets and scratch-offs, etc.
I'm like the only person in my family and amongst my friends that don't have any issues. Everyone else is on dialysis, prediabetic or just diabetic, have cancer, have sleep apnea, need pills for "bedroom stuff", missing teeth, etc.

On the financial side of the discussion... Numerous economists will affirm black American families are actually better with personal finances than the majority. This is because when you have less, you have to be better with what little you have. The system is just less likely to provide a safety net to historically disadvantaged American families than others.
I think the proper perspective is, despite being better with personal finances, nonimmigrant black American families still have higher death rates. Plant based diets can definitely help. But it's not enough, particularly when you have corporate giants like J&J preying on nonimmigrant black American families with products they know are toxic.

I used to frequent a lot of West Indian take out stores in the Toronto GTA area....the majority of food served there is high glycemic rice, drowned in oxtail gravy, combined with heaping servings of Fried chicken, Goat, Oxtail or pork. The vegetable is usually coleslaw drowned in sauce. No vegetables in sight....this also bears out in other functions too......we simply dont eat enough vegetables and eat way too much meat

Equity is a horrible word in the first place when talking about anything to do with race. Why? Because equity isn't equality. Equality is everyone getting the same opportunities. Equity is everyone getting the same outcome.

The general over all health of people has declined. Life expectancy has declined over the past few years.
Even children today have signs of artery disease. Fast foods and sugary drinks have long term consequences.
There is an obesity epidemic today where over 60% of the population is overweight or obese.
What is common today and "NORMAL" is not healthy. The average person today is not healthy and is taking medications.
Heart attacks were once only common in people over 65. Today people in their 40 are having heart attacks.
Add more plants and vegetables to your diet and less junk and overly processed foods. Being thin is a sign of good health. Being over weight or obese is a sign of bad health. Poor diet, lack of exercise and obesity are contributing to high blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes and cancer.

Do a video on vegan protein powders please. You did one on regular protein powders and how they contain lots of lead and other precious metals, but it would be fascinating to know the science behind vegan protein powders without getting tripped up by all the marketing B.S. Before anyone says that eating whole foods is healthier; I'm not disputing that fact, but lifters need to consume a minimum amount of protein per day in order to maximize gains, and wanted to know his thoughts on the different types of vegan powders out there, or if they are all contaminated in various ways.

I don't know the origin of the current concept of soul food. When I was growing up macaroni & cheese, turkey & dressing, and homemade dinner rolls were only served on holidays and special occasions. We primarily ate legumes, veggies, cornbread, and salads. If meat was served on a weekday it was in the pot with the beans. Fried chicken was a big deal and only seen on a Sunday in most middle class homes.
Fast forward a few decades, you can get the equivalent of a thanksgiving meal any day of the week for lunch and dinner. That is why we are looking like walking versions of the Goodyear blimp. KFC, Popeye's, and Churches did not exist a few decades ago. Soul food restaurants were rarer then hen's teeth.
The solution is going back to our roots. If you look at the traditional Ethiopian diet it was primarily vegetarian with meat being served on special occasions. Today there is more meat in their diet, but they fast every week (Orthodox Christians) which keeps their weight in check. Women typically have a higher BMI carrying more fat than men. The average Ethiopian women has a BMI below 23 which is lower than most men in the U.S. If your BMI is 25 or higher, you are officially over weight. Please, I don't want to hear the big bones argument.

KFC and Church's have been around over 70 years and Popeyes over 40. BMI charts are a bit silly as they had Brad Pitt overweight.
