    I love the two-tone look of those boots, and what a great way to upcycle those fabric samples that would have otherwise gone to the trash! Maybe you'll have a little extra leather left over to make a matching clutch, wallet, wrist watch or belt! Or a felted cap with a piece of matching leather around it, or the brim... So many ideas for those come to mind!!!

    Amazing work as usual, and congrats on the comment and like from Danny Choo. They say that necessity is the mother of invention - but making the boots two tone really does adds some interest to them I think. And what a bit of luck (and sustainable) using a sample leather book for your materials. I always forget how big Smart Dolls are so the shoes look huge to me, but I guess this makes them slightly less fiddly to make as opposed to shoes for Blythe.

    • @BethRamsden
      @BethRamsden  Год назад +2

      Thank you!! Oh I was over the moon with that! Yes I like the two-tone, I love brogues too, would love to make a tiny pair! They do feel big, even for smart doll, as they're a good bit longer than the foot is!! I've been practicing proper leather Blythe shoes, Middie is next, and Petite too... I'll need better magnifying glasses...

    • @MarchPaynesMidlifeDollyCrisis
      @MarchPaynesMidlifeDollyCrisis Год назад

      @@BethRamsden Two tone brogues are so cute. I remember having a pair when I was a child. Good luck with the Middie shoes, and even more luck for the Petite!!! You might need a microscope rather than magnifying glass though. I guess there's a reason a lot of the Petites have shows painted on.

      Ahhh soo lucky! Yes definitely try it out. The next pair I make I will be trying a tip from Barb at Enchantarium - use fabric and glue to create a kind of fabric-mache toe box over the last and your cardboard sole, this will help add structure to the tips of the shoes, and will be hidden inside when the leather and outer soles is added. 🪡🧵😁

    Hi dear, a question, where can I buy leather for the shoes online? I am in México and haven't really found a good option. Thanks, your mini boots are amazing.

    • @BethRamsden
      @BethRamsden  Год назад +1

      Hmm, I’m not sure what options you’ll have there, but I have seen people selling coloured leather on eBay? If you’re looking to wet-form them it will have to be real leather. Another option could be second hand recycling? Hope you manage to find something, at least with dolly shoes you don’t need a lot! ☺️

    • @BethRamsden
      @BethRamsden  10 месяцев назад +2

      I do think the thicker leather I was using helped me in shaping the toe, but for a more recent pair that I made (Video game collab with Enchanterium) I made toe caps, which really really helped with the structure, definitely check it out! ☺️

    I just got my first resin 3d printer. Did you print the last file as is or did you have to modify it? Also, does the last need supports? I am a newbie with this.

    • @BethRamsden
      @BethRamsden  Год назад +1

      We printed ours on an FDM (not resin) printer. We didn’t change the size, but did orient them to print nicely. Printing them in resin might be easier, but you might expect some trial and error if this is your first print ☺️ Good luck! Hope they come out well for you!

    • @BethRamsden

      They're 3D printed using free files from Smart Doll, the links to them, and the sewing patterns, are in the description. ^_^ You can buy the blank soles from Smart Doll as well. I have even seen someone make their own soles using cork on a Facebook group, so you could get creative if you haven't access to a printer! ^_^
