It's not just the quality of sound though. I've got no clue about music and stuff, but I always have the feeling that Richaad - on top of being high quality - has a thumb on the "soul of the song in question".

RichaadEB most covers of this song focus on the electric guitar, but you've gone the full distance and performed the entire set, which is great to be honest, pulls it away from feeling like an 8 bit tune.
Isn't this song only 4 layers like normal NES stuff? Unlike Shovel Knight, which uses the same restrictions as the Famicom, meaning 6 layers (I know I'm not saying anything you don't already know, just wondering about the discrepancy)

The original is great - it brings back nostalgia of rushing down Wily's Castle and finally succeeding after attempt after attempt failing, but this makes one imagine the run that is the platonic ideal of wily castle runs, perfection in mega man form.

This sing unlike many really feels like it was meant to be a speed metal ballad. I love hearing the anachronistic ones too, but this just lends itself to the instrumentation too well.
I let my dog listen to this and it can fly now.
Don't worry that's only stage 1, soon you'll be able to jump on it's back and be launched into the air by a trampoline, then after a few months they will be able to turn into a motorcycle, submarine or spaceship.
